  • Star Wars introduced us to the young Jedi prodigy, Vernestra Rwoh, in the High Republic books and comics. And soon she will take her place on the screen in The Acolyte series. If you're interested in catching up on her entire character arc before the series premiere, this is the video for you!
    From Wookiepedia:
Vernestra Rwoh was a Mirialan female Jedi Master who lived during the High Republic Era. She was also occasionally nicknamed "Vern," although she disliked it. The former Padawan of Jedi Master Stellan Gios, she was promoted to the rank of Jedi Knight at the age of fifteen, making her the youngest Jedi to hold that rank in a long time. Rwoh wielded a unique purple lightsaber that could elasticize its blade to become a lightwhip, having added the modification based on a Force vision. Eventually, she climbed the ranks of the Order to become a respected Master and leader among the Jedi.

Is there any chance Vernestra could secretly turn to the dark side?
I have a theory for The Acolyte.
The obvious choices regarding the sith behind the Tokyo Ghoul mask is Tenebrous, Plagueis, or Qimir.
I don't believe it's any of them. I think there are 2 Acolyte's of the Sith Apprentice. Mae and Qimir.
What if Lesilye pulls a, OMG WTF moment by revealing Vernestra is the secret 1st apprentice of Tenebrous?
It would be similar to when the jedi found out Dooku, who was trained by Yoda himself surprisingly turned Sith.
It could easily solve many questions we still have regarding why Plaguesis pushed Palpatine to get into politics and set him up to eventually become a senator and eventually Chacellor.
Maybe it started with Vernestra? She could have been feeding Tenebrous secret Jedi info and political info for future generations until the jedi discovered the betrayal of Vernestra. This could be why the council still figured the Sith hasn't been seen in 1000 years.
Maybe only a select few jedi knew of this until Vernestra dies. As for the jedi who could have survived, maybe this is where Tenebrous and or Plagueis hunted them down until no survivors were left to report this to the council.
I think this could be very interesting and it could work.
    What are your thoughts?

It's an interesting thought that I definitely hadn't thought of before. Nothing is impossible, but with the way I feel she was characterized in the books, her character seems to be most concerned with how can she best live up to the expectations placed on her with being seen as a young prodigy and with her Master having been one of the great Jedi of his time. I think the time between the books and the series are her becoming more and more committed to being a by-the-book Jedi. She is annoyingly rule-following in the Acolyte and is reminding me of Mace Windu a lot in that way so far. Of course we are only 2 episodes in and a lot can happen in the 100 years in-universe time between the books and the series, but I think she is more a depiction of the slow fall of the Jedi from the heroes of the past into the stoic, disconnected monks of the prequels. Thanks for sharing your theory though, i'm very excited to see how the series progresses!
