Glad you were able to find a solution to that crack 😬 my buddy recently just rebuilt a new used engine for his 25quattro B7 S4 and after rebuilding it and running it, he found a hairline crack in the front of the block that leaked coolant and welding only make it spread. We managed to use this solid epoxy stuff and a sheet of steel to seal it but it's always scary having those leaks! Can't wait to see this thing tuned!

I got a b5 s4 and it takes like 10 minutes for it to get up to about 1/4 of the way and then like 10 more minutes for it to get up to half, I’m concluding that it’s the thermostat but would like to get some feedback. Thanks😈
If it is doing this while you are driving it sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. I would definitely get that replaced as well as the water pump and timing components while you're there. If this is happening while you let the car sit at idle then is normal.

I want to do the single turbo conversion and I have the whole process down other than what is needed to be done to the engine harness. Thanks man!
I did the intercooler piping myself. And you’ll have to extend the wiring for your injectors, coil packs and throttle body to run the wiring harness behind the firewall.

Car is gonna be running on a Maf-less tune for a bit and then gonna go with stand-alone ECU after. German Elite Tuning is putting together the Maf-less tune.
dude is it me or is yours knocking, mine doesnt sound like that, i just did a fresh start on mine after i rebuilt it. no lifter chatter no knocking intermediately just smooth idle.
They definitely do it’s no where near as abrupt in person But to your point the car had no Maf or map installed so the idle is definitely rough. And the chatter you hear is actually the power steering pump not loving the fact that it has no fluid.
This particular setup was a little over $2k. Doing all the work myself. But I had parts broom the previous setup that I carried over like fueling and the built bottom end and heads.

It's kinda tight spacing around the hot-side of turbo, I think a turbo blanket will insulate the tight compartment area from the intense heat.
Yes definitely! I have the blanket here just haven’t put it on yet because I needed clearance for a few things by the hot side.
Looks like the power steering pulley is wobbly. Noticeable at first start up attempt.
Has a bit of a bend in it. Have a new one on the way.
My B7 S4 is getting 2.7t swapped. This is goals down the road!

I haven’t found any finished off the shelf software without the MAF but you can definitely get a custom tune running without it.

Car has to be tuned to deal with all the changes . Specially Maf placement now that there’s no intake.

You can do it with the engine in but you’ll need to lower your subframe to do it.

Engines always sound rougher on camera for some reason
