Update on the Single Turbo Build
We go through our first start and a start at the end with some revs
So we had an oil leak because I broke the upper oil pan SMH but we were able to fix it using Q-Bond. Amazing product!!!!
We also installed the new catch can setup, and started modding for the new coolant reservoir.

Awesome! Glad you were able to find a solution to that crack 😬 my buddy recently just rebuilt a new used engine for his 25quattro B7 S4 and after rebuilding it and running it, he found a hairline crack in the front of the block that leaked coolant and welding only make it spread. We managed to use this solid epoxy stuff and a sheet of steel to seal it but it's always scary having those leaks! Can't wait to see this thing tuned!

Looks like the power steering pulley is wobbly. Noticeable at first start up attempt.
Has a bit of a bend in it. Have a new one on the way.

It's kinda tight spacing around the hot-side of turbo, I think a turbo blanket will insulate the tight compartment area from the intense heat.
Yes definitely! I have the blanket here just haven’t put it on yet because I needed clearance for a few things by the hot side.

Really great Work 👍🏻👍🏻 was thinking of run a single turbo in my s4 too, or maybe 2x gt28's or even gt30's 😂. Here in Germany everyone runs this upgraded k04's with k06 hot Side, but i can't see this anymore 😅 again really great work and thank you for your explanation 👍🏻💪🏻

Bro, you don't waste time. I'm planning an engine pull soon and I was going to replace the Chinese RS6 turbos with some genuine units but now I'll wait to see how well this performs.

I got a b5 s4 and it takes like 10 minutes for it to get up to about 1/4 of the way and then like 10 more minutes for it to get up to half, I’m concluding that it’s the thermostat but would like to get some feedback. Thanks😈
If it is doing this while you are driving it sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. I would definitely get that replaced as well as the water pump and timing components while you're there.
If this is happening while you let the car sit at idle then is normal.
When it’s 100% done, wanna swap motors?? You can get a bone stock 2.7 😂😂😂

You can do it with the engine in but you’ll need to lower your subframe to do it.
could you please let me know exactly what you had to do to your engine harness to make it all work correctly? I've done a ton of research and I'm currently building my 2.7 with rods etc.. I want to do the single turbo conversion and I have the whole process down other than what is needed to be done to the engine harness. Thanks man!
and also who did your intercooler piping
I did the intercooler piping myself. And you’ll have to extend the wiring for your injectors, coil packs and throttle body to run the wiring harness behind the firewall.

Thought about changing the oil psi gauge to feed from the distributor at the back of the block instead of the plug on the upper pan?

IIRC I used the autometer oil psi gauge fitting in the distributor block. Metric thread.

I’ve seen it done a few times. As well as the twin turbo S6 motor in it as well.

I haven’t found any finished off the shelf software without the MAF but you can definitely get a custom tune running without it.

dude is it me or is yours knocking, mine doesnt sound like that, i just did a fresh start on mine after i rebuilt it. no lifter chatter no knocking intermediately just smooth idle.
Engines always sound rougher on camera for some reason
@@doo0T go listen to my start up on my channel, it's not high quality but the sound is different and sounds smoother.
They definitely do it’s no where near as abrupt in person
But to your point the car had no Maf or map installed so the idle is definitely rough. And the chatter you hear is actually the power steering pump not loving the fact that it has no fluid.
@@CIPGAS mine didn't have fluid in the res either. Maybe since you went single it sounds different idk

Nice work! I did a mod to my 1997 Audi B5 A4 1.8T with bigger turbo and intercooler. Mods were big enough so I switched ECU to a MegaSquirt 3. Can you still run with original ECU settings or do you need to tune it? Thanks!
Car has to be tuned to deal with all the changes . Specially Maf placement now that there’s no intake.

Are you running the maf sensor still or what are you doing when it comes to that?
Car is gonna be running on a Maf-less tune for a bit and then gonna go with stand-alone ECU after. German Elite Tuning is putting together the Maf-less tune.

Seth Timmer Yeah no MAF plugged in and I have a tune to run on just the MAP and O2 sensors

This particular setup was a little over $2k. Doing all the work myself. But I had parts broom the previous setup that I carried over like fueling and the built bottom end and heads.
