Guys don’t get his course lol I’m teaching the technique/hack he mentions for free at my channel lol
@@BCMoney1995I don't think you actually know what the definition of hypocritical is. The sky isn't ripping the guy for making money. He simply telling you that you can just view it for free on his channel instead of having to waste your own. That's not hypocrisy. It's called trying to save you money.
Check the channel before replying lol, it’s literally him he has crazy signing linked in his profile
"He probably just wasn't from this earth." Reminds me of Tom Morello saying Layne sang like an angry angel. Such a spot on description of Layne's voice.
I heard someone say he's an angel with needles in his throat.
@@thesnailshow8004his mother said that I believe. "His voice was like marshmallows and razorblades"
That's dope
Ooooo
OMG. An Angry Angel. The accuracy. Every time I hear him and watch him sing I think of him as not from here.
Thank you for sharing that 💫💫💫🕯️
One of the best voices! RiP We still miss and love you ❤
It's just a note, but dude, it is how layne sang it with his emotion and powerful voice.
hey
Practice all you want but that extra zap comes from that inner demon that was tearing him up. No one can match this man ever!
@@user-wp1gu6vu3x sounds like a human to me. plenty of actual otherworldly vocalists out there making actual demon noises lol
@@user-wp1gu6vu3x Now do the Kurdt Cobain scream. Nope....
LOL no... listen to Laynes vocal range and for grunge music, and Layne was in a league of his own...
Layne is one of the greatest vocalist of all time ❤
Take out the "one of" and that's a true statement my boy!
He is THE greatest❤
@@shermsmokeJames Keenan Maynard is up there too along with the greatest. Different vibe but same level to me
@@shermsmoke come on dude, he was a great rock singer, but ever hear of Franco Corelli? Go have a listen.
Sorry not sorry, but the greatest rock singer of all time is Freddie Mercury without question.
I loved Layne, he’s absolutely top five no doubt, but Freddie is the undisputed 🐐
Literally one of the best vocalists of our time. Layne we miss you everyday. Alice in chains unplugged, probaly the best acoustic album of all time.
You nearly nailed it,,but Layne's voice is unmatchable
"Nearly" Nearly?!?! you know DAMN well he hit that shit perfectly
@@im_in_immense_painlmao he did
Of course Layne is fantastic and cant be compared
Oh but he did hit that shit so well
Yea he hit it.
Thank you for giving Layne his recognition…he was the most underrated singer ever and it baffles me that there are still people in this world that don’t know who he was. REST EASY LAYNE THOMAS STALEY
He was amazing and so under-rated. Rest in Peace Sweet Soul
Under-rated? No, he wasn’t at all.
Amazing? Yes! a wonderful talent.
Under-rated? Not at all, man. Loved the whole world over.
@@karlgustov9648truth. Hungarian fan here 🇭🇺!!! He was and is the best!!! The very best vocalist of our time!!!
Never underrated! Never....people have been trying to recreate his singing voice for years. Although some come damn close, it will never, ever compared to Laynes!
@@JermaLoverSadly he was, I’ve met so many people who love Nirvana and Pear Jam but AIC isn’t there thing. I have no idea why by they’re buried a little deeper than they should be. I find it so hard to swallow that emo kids these days have to be introduced to them and it’s usually through nirvana.
"Love HATE Love " Live at the Moore.. INSANE TALENT by Layne
That's not what this audio is from
@@CypheqNo, it's not. But this user is right, Love Hate Love Live at the Moore was insane. Love that one, even better than the studio recording for Facelift.
I Saw them about that time. During "Love Hate, Love". The sound went out for a minute or two. They kept going. He sang so strong, so clearly so powerful. We were in the back row and could hear him perfectly. Blew my mind. His voice could peel the paint off walls
@@Cypheqwhere is this audio from then?
@@emiliecastaneda2353 | "Man in the Box" Live at Moore theater (1990)
I saw him sing this song live during the "Dirt" tour. When he sang "Feed my eyes". It was so powerful that I remember it to this day. So full of emotion
I never took this channel too seriously but damn, seeing you do it makes these shorts a whole lot better. Keep it up man 👍
❤️❤️❤️ that means the world friend, thank you so much! I’ll keep improving the content
Ok DaRoachDog jr… go back to making weed games with your pappy
That man - I love so much. Not just because I’d his voice but because he was a wonderful human being
All this analysing the technique and stuff is great. But don't forget that Layne probably didn't think in those terms. He probably just naturally found what worked for him through trial and error- and then sung just his heart out.
He did borrow singing lesson tapes from a friend that could afford to purchase it, back in his Music Bank Sleeze days. He submerged himself training for weeks on end. Of course his natural vocal hability and anatomy played a huge role.
Even so, if you have the basics of breath support, tongue position, pitch/range, diaphragm control you can go off and get creative with it.
It is said that early on, as they got signed, the label arranged vocal coach sessions, however no one knows for sure who, how and where exactly this supposedly was but it could be the reason why he was already so polished and versatile from the get go of Alice in Chains.
Layne eventually took lessons from Maestro Kyle, same teacher as Anne Wilson, Geoff Tate and Chris Cornell. Talk about rarified air😮
Layne Staley was one of the greatest rock singers to ever be on earth. I had prayed he would beat his demons, but the demons won.
I miss Layne & I hope he is at peace. RIP Layne
Layne is GOAT
i didn't think you'd actually demonstrate it bro that was tight
Layne was a legend bro
*is
That chorus always gives me chills he was a beast
Good singing bro
bless you friend 💛
@@CrazySinging it came from in here 💓
@@djr3000 I’m sending you a big hug friend
@@CrazySinging thanks mate. What a terrific end to wednesday night!
@@CrazySingingnot sure if you recall but we emailed a few times a month ago... and you said youd send me a few free starter course.... i never got em... is that still a option?
That literally sound exactly like the studio version as he said which is wild asf R.I.P Layne
Best grunge singer for sure
Except they were alt metal 👍🤘
God given talent.
I knew layne and would watch them jam out for practice and layne had so much power in his voice he could do it without a mic at the jam room it would give everyone chills.
Wow !!! Fantastic demonstration ❤
It's funny to think that even tired at 1996 in MTV he still sounded like he was at one of his vocal peaks, but with a different energy
looks like he was always at his peak, not because he was at his peak but because he was so good that he made it look easy... but it was painful
i love his consistance and strenght
Bad Ass! Never be another Layne!!! I could never grow bored hearing him sing. He was just so talented. Rest in peace Layne, you are so missed.
Layne was special. He sounded like no one, and no sounded like him!
La voz única y maravillosa de Layne Staley para la eternidad...........✨🎵🎶🎼🎤🎙️. My eternal love for Layne.........🖤🤍🕊️✨👻!!!!!.
His vocals are beautiful 🌹Rest In Peace
Nobody can do Layne Staley except Layne Staley! There will never be another unfortunately
I think Layne would be pleased with Brendan Maier, who sings Laynes song at his tribute each year. Of course nobody tops Layne, but Brendan does a great job honoring him.
Seeing him with aic in 92 will always be one of my favorite shows ever
Don't even need to hear him sing. I already know his voice is the best of all time. Guys gonna be recognized by the world for his music and not his addiction 1 day. We're smarter than everyone. Just make baaaaad decisions
Goat
Absolutely Beautiful!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
nice hearing you sing in these videos too👍👍
❤️❤️❤️ legend, thank you for commenting ❤️
I saw them way back. The sound went out for a minute or two. During Love Hate Love. We could hear Layne in the back of the room. Clear and strong.
Layne and Chris Cornell had the same voice coach in Seattle, Maestro David Kyle
Layne had a unique voice, I was able to see him live a few times, he inspired me in music, and a reminder to stay clean, we love doing covers from his time with Alice In Chains!
Love your channel bro you have a great voice yourself too
Bless your heart friend sending a big hug
No doubt he is a legend of rock n’ roll.
Layne Staley what's the best and will forever be remembered as a legend.
I also watch the documentary on Layne Staley his dark descent it was sad at the end really sad.

I’m so glad I watched this video. Now, even I can sing and sound just like Layne.
I watched the video with the sound off now i look like layne 😢
He didn’t hit that B4 with chest voice, he hit it with lots of vocal fry and superb vocal resonance, that’s why it sounds so freakin amazing!!
The best!!!!
Could you do a video explaining the different type of voices you talk about (chest etc) with examples?
Layne was in a class of his own. 🙏🏼💙🕊
Layne without addiction would’ve been iconic anyway with unique voice he had he could’ve did vocals for a song about grass and it would sound amazing! Such a tragic bed to such who I consider as the greatest vocalist ever like so many others and as horrific as events ended up we can all say he left behind something extremely rare which was art that was so brutally honest about the darkness of not only the hell of addiction but obviously everything that comes with it! When you battle addiction, sever depression, loosing people you care about & just being in very dark places! So that being said when you listen at Layne & AIC you truly connect on a more personal lvl compared to pretty much anything else like it really helps you feel as if your not alone! Idk what I’d do sometimes without having some AIC to listen too!
In the same iconic performance where he threatened to beat an audience member's boyfriend up and where he changed the lyrics from "I'm the dog who gets beat, shove my nose in sh!t" to "I'm the wh*re who gets beat, shove my c*ck in your a$$" to make fun of the female heckler and her boyfriend (Clash of the Titans '91 Tour), he actually took the note _even higher_ than that out of sheer rage.
It's this performance:
ua-cam.com/video/fcNARNZwSBI/v-deo.html
It's at 3:20 in the last run of the chorus that the takes it even higher from the pure motivation of extreme anger.
Not only is that performance hilarious, it's also monumental for proving how good of a vocalist he truly was and got a lot of the heavy metal community behind them.
To the audience they were no Anthrax or Slayer, but they definitely proved themselves as bad*ss rebels that day and earned a few fans for sure.
Layne was the Best !!!!!
That’s why he’s the greatest to ever do it
Layne was just a total one off, it’s a talent but also him as human that drove that vocal range.
Your voice at the end was awesome 👌
He was one of the Greatest singer's of All Time!!!💯👌
Layne was insanely talented. Truly one of the greatest.
Met him in the crowd at his own show. Very nice and "one of us" type.
We miss him! It’s a shame he had to go the way he did. His voice is incredible. Rest In Power💙
That's because he was, and still is one of the BEST!!!!
Greatest ever
Sully Erna from Godsmack hit that really well.. there's a cover he did with Steel Panther floating around here somewhere..
And Layne was Sully’s idol 💖 He named their band from Laynes song.
22 years ago today. The greatest.
ahh from The Dallas Marquee in '90! Love it!
And as a smoker at that!
I wonder Who that handsome lad performing "man in the box by Alice in chains" so perfectly in the video is. Probably some legend
so it's you?!
Layne!!!!! Still a legend!
Honestly, it's perfect to hear Layne do what he did without all of the jibber-jabber
He was the best to come out of the grunge era. Miss that dude.
An Angel❤
🤔…..cool vid ! First time viewer here. And no doubt that voice is extraordinary! It’s interesting to see how SOME of the artists from the late 60s on into the early 2000’s have been able to sing their early hits in their 60’s and even a few now over 70 years old.
Gary Brooker (Procol Harum) performed “Whiter Shade of Pale” live in Denmark (easy to find on UA-cam search) approx. 50 years after the original 1967 recording
Absolutely astonishing - worth a look if you haven’t already.
Well done on this video ✔️
Gave me chills
He was so f’n talented🙏🏼
This is just as interesting as National Geographic or any good documentary. Long time singer, you can never learn enough about it. Just look how complicated the voice box is. Love your video!!
I forgot i could do that... Thanks for reminding me
Absolutely one of the most amazing singers who ever lived
When He Did Man In The Box And It Ain’t Like That At The Moore Or Bleed The Freak Live That Man Was Godly
NO ONE WILL EVER COME CLOSE TO LAYNE THOMAS STAYLEY- GREATEST VOCALIST EVER. ❤❤
Layneeeee miss u🖤🖤🖤
so many singers can hit that note. layne had an incredibly unique voice and roughness that's hard to duplicate, and that's the rarity. the distortion effect is a joke because now you're not talking about hitting the note, you're talking about trying to sing like layne staley. Greg Puciato of Dillinger could probably hit it, same with Mike Patton, Chester B if he was still alive, Chris Cornell i'm pretty sure hit that same note at the very beginning of "pretty noose". but yeah "everyone struggles with it!" layne sang the way he did because he didn't care what ppl thought. It was part of the grunge/punk attitude that was part of the culture during that era.
I was at a point where I was singing as hard as I could for 8-12 hours per day, after realizing I had been in AMNESIA for 17 years and was suddenly at terms with the darkest reality one could imagine happening to them or anyone. Singing saved my life in many ways. Now my Bass Guitar is automatic flow
you actually pulled it off quite well 🫶
No one can do it like Layne.
15 months ago I've told this guy that he will hit 100k, and it's going to happen in a few weeks :D
love you friend 💕
@@CrazySinging Just keep rocking
There will never be another Layne.
The Best ❤️
Oh sweet child.. if you'd had only witnessed it in person
My Karaoke DJ put me in for this song last week, and I looked at him like "Really dude, only Layne can actually sing this"
When you saw Layne sing you could see the power of his voice radiate off of his body. He was from another planet.
I went to Clash of The Titans in like 91' and I still specifically remember when he sang this. I don't remember any of the other 3 bands. Not one song.
How come you never talk about Geoff Tate. I wanna hear you hit the high on Take Hold Of The Flame!
Bro 2 songs you need to check out are Ragnorak by Periphery and Here Comes the Winner by Dance Gavin Dance
Saw them on the Dirt tour and his and Jerry’s vocals were incredible. They harmonized just as perfectly as they did in the studio
Well done here
Ooo weee i am in love w that man
Love ya Layne tell my son Kody I love him and see ya both soon!!! My son listened to Layne and Kody had his own band and hit those high notes too! Why do all the greats leave early
Let’s see more of you singing that. It sounded good.
Man that was good vocals by you dude, I wish I could get some lessons
Jesus H Christ Layne is such a legend. Man I love him! Such a natural!
Just listen to early 80's hair metal vocalists. They did the same thing. But Layne mixed that style with grunge. Phil Anselmo also used to sing 80's hair metal style and switched it up too. I truly believe that style of singing was the hardest to learn. Which made these guys legendary vocalists.
I literally decided to take a shot at this one, and yeah, throat hernia. It's so much technique. I eventually found out it was falsetto, and i can get closer, but it's still not there.
