This video is probably the best aoe2 video I've ever watched, and I've watched a LOT of videos. I was glued to the screen the entire second battle. It takes incredible nerve to hold on despite the massive onsalught and then go on to turn the game around. Its also fascinating to see how the way Hera thinks. Hera displayed true character and wisdom, always encouraging his students no matter how desperate the situation gets and always knowing exactly what to do in any given situation. Even when Kamp is floating like 6000 resources in food and wood for 30 minutes Hera still doesn't get annoyed or command that he spend it, he always nudge him towards the answer. Truly a great video.
Yeah this + the bombard cannons, he just calmly says he has 2 bombard cannons at the farm, not just yelling like SHOOT THE GODDAMN TREB WITH THOSE 2 BOMBARD CANNONS YOU BUILT FOR THAT PURPOSE" :D
I really like this method of coaching from Hera. I watch a lot of survivalist coaching and he tends to kind of put the people he’s coaching down a lot. Sayin stuff like look at your army what is it doing? It could be doing so many other things instead of standing there. Compared to Hera who very nicely says that he needs to get the scouts into the base faster and explains that he barely luckily slipped in on time in that game while also complementing the good things that the player is doing. Very good video 👍
Yes, Hera is turning out to be a wholesome player/coach. I am enjoying his videos lately and he is showing up his pleasant charachter. Keep it up Hera! I learn a lot from your videos, if I get the time I'll also reach up for some coaching!
That is arguably a better way of teaching, what survivalist does. Ask someone what they're doing wrong and have them think and realize it, instead of just telling them what to do. Sinks in better when you figure it out.
@@justinayers3589 100% also when people feel respected by the teacher it makes them more open to learning and understanding. If people are rude and critical when they teach it tends not to synergize as well for the learner. Edit: oh I misread you. I disagree Hera’s coaching is superior. However I watch and learn from both. Hera let’s the player learn on the spot he isn’t just telling them what to do he’s leading them through the process.
@@justinayers3589 In my opinion, pre-match and drills is the time to be a hard ass, question the student, make them think. Hera totally nails a big human factor principle: Avoid negatives. EG: "dont drink while chewing!" = you focus on not drinking, but maybe stop chewing is an option... ultimately you miss both targets. "Drink after chewing!" = you get the order to chew, finish and drink imediately after.
You can see he is a new player who probably watched the game. He fine but the second he gets pushed he thinks he is dead. He literally would have resign that arena game 20 times if you didn't keep telling him he can win.

Lol at the comments calling this a smurf. I got to around 1100 elo myself in 2 weeks when I started playing ranked. If you have good mechanics from other games, learn the basics from streams etc and follow build orders its really not that hard to get that elo
I feel I developed so much watching this, very similar Elo and I’ve been playing for a few weeks, I used to play back when I was 10-12 with my uncle and now almost 25 with maybe 43 games down I’m grasping the different in depth play levels.
3 weeks, what the? That mill move was freaking amazing! The arena game was astonishing, I also felt like he's about to lose. I mean no relics, no saved resources or map control, being pushed back. And still :O But I've never seen cavaliers melt from skirms so fast before. Chapeau monsier! To both of you.
Hi all, nice video! I'm myself 1200 ELO and I have a clean sub 15min game (thanks to Hera's build orders btw ;) ) That doesn't give you all, macro after 15min is hard to manage, being attacked early can be stressful and so on. What people like me need is keeping calm, study and watching more of this content.
I think the thing players of lower elos forget (including myself, because I'm only 1300) is that this game is basically a race to 200 pop. We always end up floating loads of resources.
Thanks a lot for the video!! My elo is really similar to his and I feel all the advise you gave him applies to me as well. Almost like free coaching haha Keep up the great content. Btw: you really are great are coaching, you inspired a lot of confidence in that arena game!
Hera I'm currently 4 days in playing AoE, I have played only 1 ranked game that I won by luck... after that I haven't played any ranked game, and spend most of the time restarting games to learn to get to castle fast, learn how to get the deers and just trying to follow your videos. I want to start playing ranked, but a bit more relaxed, I end up with a burning feeling on my shoulders when playing non ranked from the stress of trying to not mess it up. I don't see in your description any information in regards how to do coaching sessions, booking & cost. Please could you let me know, I feel having someone looking over my shoulder will greatly help me improve, build confidence and not over stress over a game.
You lose when you lose your vills, if you have ressources, a decent position where you can buy time or a score lead, just fight back and you'll often see the ennemy made a mistake by being too aggressive
Well...the definition of smurf! Hera congrats you are the best teacher out there (along with StArk) and happy to see you at the top officially too! Just a heads up: After the elo nurf of all accounts, at 1000-1200 elo range there are only 2 types of players. The smurfs and the players who are like blue player in this video. Also a good indication of not set elo is the victories/loses ratio. A new player will never have 30% victories over lossies. Unless you dicovered the new HERA!!! lol. This player is a 1150-1200ish player pretending noob! The mechanics he used (especially the blocking of scout) shows a player who has spend months studying and practising!
I remember my first game with a coach. I felt sorry for my opponents because all of a sudden my hands were making scout rushes unlike anything on my level, it was quite surreal. I wonder how it must feel to be coached by literally hera lol.
Are your more strict about leading the player with commands and tasks the player or are you still open to suggestions/questions when they asked you during the coaching? Do you think different styles of coaching/teaching significantly affect how the knowledge is shared?
In general im trying to focus on decision making and macro, not micro. They also pick the strat and civ they want, im not imposing my preferences on them
great games. minor thing i noticed: when you age up as indian you want to clear your vil que and reque new ones bc you get the new discount in the next age. with 3 food per vil that 15 food for free.

Lol at the comments calling this a smurf. I got to around 1100 elo myself in 2 weeks when I started playing ranked. If you have good mechanics from other games, learn the basics from streams etc and follow build orders its really not that hard to get that elo
I played back in 2001 and still 700 elo 🤭
I feel I developed so much watching this, very similar Elo and I’ve been playing for a few weeks, I used to play back when I was 10-12 with my uncle and now almost 25 with maybe 43 games down I’m grasping the different in depth play levels.
This is a very valuable video, thank you! Your channel has the best AoE content.
These videos are so helpful and nice to watch, thank you!
Thx for this video Hera! It was a blessing!!!
This was fantastic. I felt the tension, even 5 months later. Good job, both Hera and Kamp
This was a great video, thanks for sharing!
Enjoyed this video the most HERA - really good stuff - keep it up
Really appreciate the session - lots learned!
Can't wait to see more coaching videos. Currently this my favourite content by far!
As a new player I love watching you play and just talk about the game it explains it for me I appreciate your content!!
Its great Hera is doing this, makes great content and also really connects with the community
Hera this is such a class act, helping low elo guys improve by coaching this way
Dude that Micro Was crazy Keep up the good work
Hera Keep up that coaching
Omg, the scout entrapment operation was amazing!
This will be an awesome series keen to see more
3 weeks, what the? That mill move was freaking amazing!
The arena game was astonishing, I also felt like he's about to lose. I mean no relics, no saved resources or map control, being pushed back. And still :O
But I've never seen cavaliers melt from skirms so fast before.
Chapeau monsier! To both of you.
This is nice!! We need more coaching vidoes. Thanks for this btw
Great video Hera! Super entertaining and very informative to watch and learn as a newer player as well. You’re a great coach 😄
I knew these coaching streams would bring some good content! Maybe when I get back into playing ranked again I’ll have to get some lessons😅
Hey man, just started watching you and getting into the game, you’re a cool dude man, cool vids.
This makes me want to sign up for coaching too 🤔👏
All info in my discord, we would love to have you on
Love this series! I want more!
sick! 1000s elo arena clowns are savage but our boy hold with great eco and production, hera is an amazing coach! great series
I think the thing players of lower elos forget (including myself, because I'm only 1300) is that this game is basically a race to 200 pop. We always end up floating loads of resources.
Oh Hera, we miss u so much in AoE 4. Great player and great man.
Def should do a part 2 in a year, or in this case a couple months, and see where he's at now
the korean player not knowing how to get past the tree behind the wall hole sent me in orbit, I love 1000 elo
Thanks a lot for the video!!
My elo is really similar to his and I feel all the advise you gave him applies to me as well.
Almost like free coaching haha
Keep up the great content.
Btw: you really are great are coaching, you inspired a lot of confidence in that arena game!
really good content there, thx for this superb example of economy wins
4:40 Hera immediately teaching his students the power of "sec".
Hey Hera you are a very good teacher! keep it up!!! Great content as usual
Ooh remember this one. I miss your coaching vids. This guy (kamp) has reached 1400 btw. Peaked at 1500.
Nice drop Hera, keep 'em coming!
I'm 1k elo and play primarily Hindustani, so this helped me a lot, ty. I also usually feel like if I'm being attacked that I'm losing.
You lose when you lose your vills, if you have ressources, a decent position where you can buy time or a score lead, just fight back and you'll often see the ennemy made a mistake by being too aggressive
This was good hera. Great content
im so hyped while watching this xD
Well...the definition of smurf! Hera congrats you are the best teacher out there (along with StArk) and happy to see you at the top officially too! Just a heads up: After the elo nurf of all accounts, at 1000-1200 elo range there are only 2 types of players. The smurfs and the players who are like blue player in this video. Also a good indication of not set elo is the victories/loses ratio. A new player will never have 30% victories over lossies. Unless you dicovered the new HERA!!! lol. This player is a 1150-1200ish player pretending noob! The mechanics he used (especially the blocking of scout) shows a player who has spend months studying and practising!
thank a lot for video it is very useful advanced beginners who plays and watches video but as Kamp and as I has some problems in mid game
They also pick the strat and civ they want, im not imposing my preferences on them
i really wish i had more time to try to git gud at age cause having hera available to coach is awesome.
hera is a really good teacher
great games. minor thing i noticed: when you age up as indian you want to clear your vil que and reque new ones bc you get the new discount in the next age. with 3 food per vil that 15 food for free.
Wow that woz awesome. I play age 3 but after watching this I might try age 2. That was fun looking
I play this game since 1999. I was 6yo back then. I still play like a 6yo. Good to see people can progress.
This video is soo gooood!! gg to Kamp and wow, now I want Hera to coach me
This sounds awesome hahaha I would love to do something like this as well, I'm way worse tough at 601 elo right now after about 60 games in ranked. Anyways love the content man keep it up 🔥
This was a good watch. He was itching to attack! But the long play was a winner 🤙🏾
I haven’t even played this game since like 2002 and yet I keep finding myself watching your videos. 😂
