@@qwws3379 In my opinion, there's no 'wrong' embouchure. As long as it doesn't hurt you, and it works for you, and you play well... let it be. Because it's obviously working. Not everyone is the same.
I have been playing trumpet for over 6 years now and have developed a "smiling" embouchure like you mentioned in the video. How would I correct this? I can't seem to play a single note without smiling.
+SwiftEdits It depends on what you mean by a "smiling" embouchure. One of the greatest players of all time Maurice Andre used what might be classified as a smile embouchure. It's all dependent on your particular structure.
Anyone know where to find piccolo-trombone music/playing guides? I'm only using this video for using the mouthpiece but I really need help with playing the actual instrument.
Hey, I had that problem too! But once I've gained experience with low brass mouthpieces, I now can make notes on trumpet. I still have ways to go before I'm consistent, but it's possible!
Have you tried practicing your buzz without the mouthpiece? Start with an easy song like 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' or 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and just focus on being able to change the notes using your buzz only. Don't forget that voicing can help with range, too. The higher notes should feel like you're singing the long 'eeeeee' sound. Hope this helps! 🎺🎺🎺
I've been playing the trumpet for nye on 8 years, and have just been told by my new teacher that my embouchure is wrong :/
Oof
Same
But only for 4

Thank you so much for this advice! Hopefully tomorrow I get the right G and C note :)
Teaching my nephew to play. Thanks John Holt.

Thanks! This will be helpful in band!
It's not that you weaken the muscles when you smile, you're not engaging the muscles and forming the tissue in a way that's conducive to playing.
He knows he means they are thin at the moment

Help! I got my braces off about 5 months ago and still haven’t been able to recover my range. I’m starting to think it has to do with my embouchure

Dominant as the old song goes.... If you're happy and you know it don't play the trumpet. ☹
i like this méthode
I’ve been smiling for 7 years...
O my freaking gosh this is hard 😤😡👿👿👿
watched this, felt confident, and absolutely failed
practice makes perfect i guess
emBOUchure not emosure
Look at the title
Ikr it sounds like hes saying omisher
He uses an American pronunciation. Deal with it.
drake, hueco de poto
Vermillion 303 it's got nothing to do with being American... You still pronounce the "b".
this was not helpful, everything i try I still can't make a good buzz or Embouchure
Probably cause u dont stick to one embouchure. Just practice
