Thanks for your video. This was helpful. How do I keep the nut and metal sleeve from loosening? On the drive side, the nut and sleeve constantly vibrate loose and slip down to where there is too much slack in the cable.
Thanks, very helpful. In my case my two cables were constantly loosing tension because I only had one 10-24 nut on each side instead of two back to back on each side to prevent unwinding. $1.60 fix.
I have replaced the drive belt and friction wheel and the wheels stop moving when drive into snow, my cables don't have adjustors under the dashboard looks like under the belly cover? I haven't flipped it up to check if adjusters all inside yet. My machine is a Yard Works 30" with 357 c.c. motor.... any help?
Without being able to see the machine, what I would try is to use the machine in snow with the belt cover off. See if belt is slipping under load. If so, you have wrong size belt or cables need adjustment.
Hoping this is my problem. Going to try this today before buying and installing new belts (if I can even find them). Got my mom's old snowblower because the augers literally broke apart on my Craftsman 9hp 26" and I couldn't find replacements that didn't cost a million dollars.
It worked! Have other problems though. I replaced the carb and it's idling way to high and rattling out all the hardware, including the cover and muffler bolts.
Glad the video helped. Sounds like the governor is broken or not set up correctly or the throttle needs to be adjusted. Making these adjustments would depend on the engines manufacturer
Mine is pretty much same snowblower but it is boging out when snow gets deep! It throws snow pretty good but seems clogged up and I have to stop alot and walk really slow! Will tightening this cord on the left for auger fix it making spin faster?
If it's bogging down under load, there are a few possibilities. If it's heavy, wet snow and the engine is underpowered could be one reason. A slipping or worn belt could be another. Adjusting the tension could help with that but be careful not to overtighten it as it will cause premature wear and early failure of the cable. Cheers
If you do like the factory tells you, on the loose side some what on the Cables. The DRive and Auger may start slipping. That is what happen to me . I put the cables NO slack on cables They work great- NO slipping of Drive and snow blowing Auger- Systems !

You could try some medium strength loctite. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers

@@brantsmallenginerepairs Thanks for the tip. Have to wait for warmer weather to get at it and inspect it.
