It does make me wonder why Hollywood marketing pushing this anti cgi agenda. Old practical fx was very limited in what it could do. CGI has opened up the possibilities to making many more types of tv and movies that were previously not possible. Or at least not possible to do well.

Im really tired of all these people hating on CGI and VFX . They have absolutely no idea what it takes to create these things. They believe its all done in 20 minutes, they dont know the work and sweat it takes to make vfx work. Seriously insane....Nolan is one that loves to say he made everything old school, , 😂😂😂😂
I work in Visual Effects and have done quiet a few nature documentaries where I had to use CGI etc, There is nothing produced in the industry that has not had some VFX.
It's probably used in the news too
If no CGI in those movies, it’s a big tax fraud as someone claimed tax incentives for those VFX artists. We should check with tax authorities where did the tax money go. ;)
Yeah it's actually quite surreal. I mean, the VFX artists are listed in the credits...animators, modelers, lighters, compers, etc. The VFX shops that did the work put out show reels that show the CGI breakdown. The studios looking to pick up an Oscar for VFX encourage this..... YET the filmmakers waltz out onto talk shows and stuff to gaslight the public at large with this ridiculous lie.
Ridley Scott *could* have been among the best of all time. But then he made more movies after Blade Runner.
Very tough to top Alien, followed by Blade Runner... but let's not forget Thelma and Louise, Gladiator and Blackhawk Down...
@@AcidTest-im3jb I really don't think he ever came anywhere near Blade Runner again. In terms of consistency I rate his brother Tony as the better director.
Well done man!!! This shit drove me nuts for years. I was at MPC last year when we definitely used CGI to create shots for Top Gun and Napoleon. lol Some of the best in the world and for all time IMHO. #VFXUnion #lookingforVFXwork
If I may make one criticism of your video, I feel the thumbnail and video title are misleading and click-baitish. Your content is great and that kind of thing cheapens it.

What really sucks is that this whole anti-CGI crap is b/c Hollywood is 1. Too fucking CHEAP to give us the time to do xlnt vfx, and 2. Puts some of the *stupidest* ppl in control just based on how fucking arrogant they are, 'the more the better'. That goes for most vfx studios too sadly

I think for the most part it's pretty damned spectacular. God the amount of work WETA had to put into that is astounding. Not just the apes, but the environments. There is the odd shot where it feels a little bit "uncanny valley" -- like it looks great, but not 100% real or in camera, but hey it was 2017 and I'm not sure we'll ever get to a point where that feel goes away? But otherwise fantastic. Have you seen Kingdom?

Ridley Scott is indeed a Legend. But the guy is VERY overrated. Since KINGDOM OF HEAVEN all he did is CRAP.
