Raymond Massey was terrific, Even the real John brown would have been scared by this portrayal.
And how . I'm hiding behind my popcorn box from Raymond Massey
What a dashing character Errol Flynn was, and Ronald Regan was always a true American hero. To think that the lead characters in America's darkest tragedy all served together, this film is a must watch.
Actually Stuart and Custer were not at West Point at the same time. Stuart graduated in 1854 and Custer not until 1861. Instead of serving together they fought against each other during the civil war.
Don’t u just love at how Hollywood mimics historical facts with fiction and still make a great movie it’s magical right
No it isn't. Longstreet, Lee and Grant were already serving and were in the assault on the Mexican capital in 1848. Sherman got hung up in California when 2 ships sank under him or he would've been there. They should've made a film about that war. Lee led troops through a lava bed and Grant hoisted a cannon up into a church tower to fire down on the Mexican troops. Longstreet ran the flag up to a big wall but was felled, he handed the flag off to his best friend, George Pickett, who took the Stars & Stripes over the wall.
ANY MOVIE WITH OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND IS OK WITH ME , LOVE HER .
One of the all time great movies, the guy playing John Brown did a fantastic job oscar type performance
Aye. Class Act!
Jap , Oskar from Sesamestreet ❗🤢
Raymond Massey did a followup film seven angry men
Worthless as history but a rousing entertainment - Brown is simplified but Massey elevates the character beyond the western melodramas of the day
The movie inspires historical reflection and research
Out of all the Errol Flynn and Olivia De Havilland movies I've seen, the ones I like the most are Captain Blood and The Adventures Of Robin Hood
The same for me and the light brigade

Eu adorava ver os seus filmes. Errol Flynn era o meu maior suspiro
Everyone played their parts really good. Especially Raymond Massey.
The great Raymond Massey at his very best.
Beautiful!! The last part of battle fight seems surrealistic taking account of the year they’ve been making this film. I enjoyed watching immensely..thank you for sharing, much appreciated❤️

Who would think years later Reagan would become a corporate socialist states rights neoliberal. Wrap yourself around the flag by day neoliberalism by NIGHT 😂
Great to see Reagan, Flynn and so many other great actors!
And future President
Damn, that Canadian Raymond Massey was a great actor.
He was connected too the Massey-Fegerson fortune.
Io only knew him as the head doctor in the TV program Doctor Kildare
@vernwallen4246 are you sure about that?
Long live the spirit of John Brown...
My great-great uncle
The man that played John Brown, Raymond Massey, has a voice that sounds just like Carl Malden.

A wonderful old Western which I first watched more than 60 years ago and its still great ! For me back then and today it is stolen from Errol Flynn by Raymond Massey whose John Brown is both powerful and terrifying, a great portrayal of a fanatic.

Cin cin!!

Greetings from Toluca Mexico
Pro south but captures Browns character - kudos to Raymond Massey
I knew Reagan was old but didn't know he knew Robert E Lee.

. Muy buena película 😊😊🎉
It cracked me up when the role call of famous men like Longstreet, Sheridan, Custer, Stuart all in the same graduation class.
Longstreet fought in the Mexican War, 42. Custer was class of 61. Stuart 54 Sheridan 53. Pickett 47.
Custer would have been 15 in 1854 when they all supposedly "met".
Muy buena película y muy Buenos actores 🎥🎬👀
Parece ser filme bom, vou conferir.
This was the 2nd western Errol Flynn and Olivia De Havilland did together. The 1st was 1939's Dodge City
Robert E.Lee was a West Point commandant before the Civil War.
He became a Confederate General during the Civil War because his home state Virginia became a Confederate state.
He couldn't fight against it.
Alan Hale Sr., the dad of Alan Hale Jr.( Skipper of " Gilligan's island ") is in this.
1850's army uniforms were replaced in 1859 by the uniforms that were used during the Civil war. The civil war ones were inspired by the ones used by France at the time.
In this movie is an actor whose talent dwarfs that of Errol Flynn, the great Raymond Massey. Massey dominates the screen as the abolitionist John Brown. Barely outdone is Van Heflin in a jewel of a performance. This move is very ambiguous in its meaning. On the one hand it denounces slavery, on the other it trumpets Jefferson Davis, Lee and Jeb Stuart as if they were noble heroes. Brave certainly but their cause was anything but noble. The blood of millions on their gentlemanly hands. The southern government was built on the putrid stench of slavery. Their lost cause was deservedly just that. Lost.
You should Captain Blood if you like seeing Errol Flynn and Olivia De Havilland together. I highly recommend it!
R. I. P.
Robert E. Lee
Jeb Stuart
Love this first for the history and second for the humor. Thank you for the upload!

What history? This is probably one of the most historically inaccurate movies I have ever seen.
@@juanitajones6900 Now check it out. it's just a story.
@@juanitajones6900 `Yes. And "They Died with Their Boots On" is also really inaccurate. It is hoped that some people will become curious enough to read the true history. The deeper history behind the financial backers of John Brown is just the tip of the iceberg. These men wanted Kansas to be a free state because if it became a slave state, they would lose votes in Congress that kept their tariffs on Southern produce in place. The infrastructure of the North that made these men rich was paid for by the South which received no benefit, which was unconstitutional. This had gone on for decades, and the Northern Industrialists got greedier. The other reason for their support of John Brown was the idea that they would have a new, cheaper labor force of freed slaves who would not understand the value of money. When the Haarper's Ferry Raid failed, they left for Canada until things cooled down. When Lincoln was elected three Southern states seceded. The first thing Lincoln did was offer them the deal that they could keep their slaves if they returned to the Union and paid the new, higher tariff. They refused. Then Lincoln sent his flotilla to "Fort Sumter and the remaining Southern states seceded and joined the Confederacy. The Southerners felt that they were fighting for the same reasons that they had in 1776.
@@TheresaDelPorto Just a story? That is not really true. It is fiction with a lot of history in it that represents history. The inaccuracies affect perceptions. Many people never read history, but get it from films. Here is some history;

buena pelicula de accion y algo de historia
Seems John Brown was very accurate in the future of the United States .....
Remember going to the cinema to see him in his last major film 'The Sun Also Rises'; his desolate past clearly showing in his appearance.
What an incredible reputation and his WB films showed him to be an outstanding performer.
Ironic that his co-star in several of them viz. Olivia De Havilland outlived him by an incredible 60 years!
They don't ' makem' like that anymore!
Buen clasico
John Brown did NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG!
JOHN BROWN GAVE HIS LIFE FOR HIS FELLOW MAN AND TO THE LAWS OF THE MOST HIGH GOD HE ALSO GAVE HIS SOUL TO THE HEAVENLY FATHER AND SACRAFICED ALL HE HAD INCLUDING HIS FAMILY. TO PLEASE GOD.

Errol Flynn was the best looking hollywood actor

john brown's speech was correct at the end..
endlich mal ein gescheiter Film ...
Slavery is the meaning of this Movie and I thank the industry for caring or just creating idea that is now still relevant
ich liebe alte filme
Van Hefrin e Errol Flinn juntos...wonderfull
While the raid on the Engine House at Harpers Ferry is certainly exciting here, in truth, the actual raid was but a skirmish. Only one US Marine was killed and one wounded. Brown's force lost ten killed and wounded, plus seven captured.
Sigue funcionando muy mal y ou tube you tube
That final fight was an epic hollywood classic.
I wasn't aware there were mountains in Kansas otherwise an enjoyable movie love Errol Flynn.
for this film only hollywood moved mountains to Kansas,
Mount sunflower, check it out it’s actually a mountain
I’m totally confused,if John brown was against slavery, why did everybody hate him
Because a lot of people were in favor of slavery.
Surprised Walsh didn't direct it. Allen Hale was awesome in Gentleman Jim.
