Why thank you! Hope I didn't take all the magic out of it for you. LOL!
Wifey's taking me to see Soulive for my birthday next week. I met Neal years ago before a sound check. I had no friggin' idea who he was, other than he had gigantic 70's cop show hair.
Maybe I'll get to say hi again.

Do you have any other Soulive songs broken down? This Steppin' video you did really helped me out...some of those slash chords are hard to hear. Thanks... Keep up the good work!

Will do. Have a disastrous flood in the studio, so lots of dead gear! Once everything stops blowing up I'll record it for ya.

I've often thought about the gospel thing... I'm too white! My daughter's black, maybe that gives me some cred, LOL.
Breakout is dead easy. I used to play it. Will post when I get time. I'd like to do Turn it out but I lost my live version of Soulive doing it :-(

Hey, do you know what drawbar and vibrato settings are used in Up Right? I've been trying to get it right on a B3 trying different vibrato and drawbar settings, leslie rotary speeds, etc. Nothing close to it. I am more of a Clavinet guy, I can tell what different pickups a Clainvet uses by listening to it, but Organs, I'm sort of new to. Any ideas?

The solo at the end sounds like chorus on C3, Leslie slow, first 3 draw bars out and 2nd harmonic percussion. A lot of the sound is his weird super staccato style that he uses sometimes. Medesky does that too. It's a tricky thing to cop well. Hope that helps.

As a Clav player, staccato is my friend, but with organs, the sound is tricky to get right. Thank you so much. I've spent a few days trying to get the right sound. I had it going on C1 with 3rd percussion and a really odd combination of highs and lows with a smaller mid-section. The way Neil Evans plays is totally unique, and it works so well. And out of all of Soulive's songs, Up Right is my absolute favorite, and it's so fun to play when you've got it all down. Many thanks!
