  • Today - we force the Ginger to do some actual wrenching work. Here, he demonstrates the installation of a Teraflex 3.5" lift kit on a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon EcoDiesel. He covers the removal of the factory suspension, installation of the new lift components, and the final assembly of the Jeep.

      I'd love to put my ecodiesel on a "weight loss program". No emissions testing on diesels in my state, but potential future warranty issues steers me clear for the time being.

      @@vdub5818 at minimum you could shut off the EGR. Everything stays intact. Saves the motor and warranty. But obviously I'm just kidding I wouldn't recommend doing something you're not supposed to do. Of course.

      @@UnwindingRoads but of course not sir! 😉🤣
      The EGR systems, high and low pressure, are one of my major worries with it. Of course said EGR systems are not part of the 5yr/100k warranty only 3yr/36k and I'm at 35,400 right now lol

    I had that exact kit on my '21 JT Rubicon diesel as well as a few other bits and pieces from Teraflex. I feel that Teraflex products are very well branded and offer a very good reliability for their price point, they also look very nice😂. It is good to set your expectations right and understand that at this price point you are getting no more than mid level performance. By no means you are getting any amazing suspension performance here those are not an external bypass shocks and the price reflects that.
    The 3.3 rear Falcon shock doesn't have sufficient dampening ,even on the highest setting, for an empty JT not to mention an over the GVWR like a lot of them are.
    The rear 3.5" lift coil spring from Teraflex do not support the weight of an empty JT, they do offer a ton of down travel as most of the coil is completely collapsed, Without spacers the truck rear is squatted heavily.
    Clayton Off road offers way better springs for the JT.
    IMHO if you are buying/installing their control arms and plan on having your vehicle for a long run try to go the extra mile and buy the rebuildable ones.

    I really love teraflex stuff but it is a bit ridiculous that their answer for ecodiesel lifts is to use a spacer with their gas spec springs. Truly don't understand why, apart from penny pinching, they didn't spec a higher spring rate for diesel specific lifts like many other manufacturers.

    • @vdub5818
      @vdub5818 Рік тому

      @darklavalizard yeah Metalcloak, Clayton, Rock Krawler, Rusty's, Evo, etc. all have diesel lifts. Hell even Skyjacker has diesel specific spring rates. For my usecase I prefer Clayton's options, although Metalcloak's gamechanger is definitely a high quality lift, but my little baby needs the money more than my jeep 🤣

    Lots of video for jeep wheel and tire and lift but some reason not to mention about wheel offset.
    It will be very helpful to everyone if we know what offset the wheel is so con imagine how much wheel and tire is sticking out
    But good looking job

    A rubicon has a factory 1-1/2” lift. If you install a terra flex 3-1/2” does it raise the rubicon 3-1/2” total or 3-1/2” additional for total of 5”?

    • @Lefishn
      @Lefishn Місяць тому

      This is what I want to know cause as a new Gladiator Rubicon owner coming from Trucks it seems confusing when you see these suggested 2 5" or 3 5" kits meanwhile people say they are more than that. Why call something 2.5" if it lifts 3-4"?

  • @Lefishn
    @Lefishn Місяць тому

    Ok does a teraflex 2.5" lift sit the same no matter if just the basic 2.5" compared to changing arms and shocks? I love this look but can't see myself changing all those parts on a new 2024 if I don't do more than 5% off road bit want that look

    On these motors i think " you must" delete the problems and tune. Does your shop do that and is the transmission in the eco diesel different than the 8 speed in the gas

      Stock handles 7s just fine, coming from a person who drives a diesel on real 37s that don’t fit in the spare location 😂

    • @vdub5818
      @vdub5818 Рік тому

      If you HAVE to have the gearing as close to stock, 4:10's will get you closest on 37's. However as noted above, the torque of the diesel really makes up for the loss.

      Good day! We build our Teraflex kits starting with the base 3.5" kit, add in the front drop brackets, Alpine arms (if needed), trackbar brackets, etc. All depends on what your intended purpose is and how best to set up the Jeep for excellent on-road manners ;-)

      @Epic Adventure Outfitters thank you for the response. I'm interested in this kit, as I have the same model JTRD color and all, and will be adding either a topper with RTT, Project M camper, or ACCC at some point. I'm on the East Coast near Virginia Beach and travel to the mountains within a 6-8hr driving radius often.
