I think Nya is written terribly in this season, she's CONSTANTLY contradicting herself. She starts by saying that her and Jay were never going to happen, and then a few episodes later? Oh whats this? she literally said that she knew her and Jay were going to end up together, so if it weren't for her, Jay wouldn't have made any wishes. Meaning that if she just told Jay to wait for a little longer, Zane would've been fine. Also it's just annoying to see her mess with Jay's heart for fun, there's no other reason to break his heart like that besides pure sport, it's terrible to see such a relatable and understandable character do that to someone.
Nya was struggling with her identity and didn't want to be just Jay's gf. She felt vulnerable and was afraid of getting into a relationship. You can actually see she doesn't believe what she is saying when she says to Jay they're just friends, it hurts her to say because she doesn't believe it.
One of my favorite things about that Zane scene is how he walks below deck and the screen *immediately* goes off-kilter. Of course, before this, we get a snippet of Jay saying that he shouldn’t be alone, but even if he hadn’t said this Zane’s entry into the dark room would automatically install a sense of unease and danger. We know Nadakhan is there far before we even see him. The whole scene where he takes his time fixing the chess board had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation. Very well written

I’ve never heard anyone mention the fact that Jay’s “1st wish” is actually 2 wishes that are weirdly combined into 1. Here’s some of his exact wording for his 1st wish: “I wish I wasn’t born in a junkyard.” (that was his 1st wish). “I wish I wasn’t poor anymore and could give Nya everything she wants.” (that was supposed to be his 2nd wish, but it’s weirdly treated as part of his 1st one)
The weirder thing is that Nadakhan didn't grant this wish since it was already the case to begin with. Jay really wasn't born in a junkyard so what gives? Jay got cheated.
Maybe Nadakhan doesn't grant wishes that are already true. So he wouldn't grant his wish of being rich because he already was rich, he just anticipated his bio dad's death, but, assuming Libber actually delivered him in the Junkyard (either on purpose or accidentally), his wish of "not being born in a Junkyard" was valid so that's what he granted.
@Lora_of_Lores Edna isn't Jay's bio mom, but Libber could've delivered him in the Junkyard (dreadful place to do so but ok) therefore he could've been born in the Junkyard, making that half of the wish technically valid.
I personally believe that this is because when you try to make a wish you have to be specific with it or else Nadakan could twist it. Meaning you have to explain how you want the wish to go jay was specific with what he wanted from his wish but he didn't explain how he was going to get that wish. And also Jay wasn't born in a junkyard so Nadakan didn't care and thus didn't grant that wish.
My biggest hot take will always and forever be that Rebooted is more divisive than Skybound. I'm not kidding lol. Everyone thinks Skybound is the divisive season, but if you ask people how they feel about Rebooted, you will get a whole RANGE of answers from love to outright hatred. That being said though, great video! I always love Skybound analysis vids (there's like a ton of them now) and this is great. Keep it up!
I think they are exact opposites as well. Reboot was meh until the ending which was glorious. While Skybound was built up pretty good until the ending which makes it so you can skip it and nothing changes because of that last wish.
It's my personal belief that Jay's character gets worse, because he just is progressively getting more trauma and his only reaction to it is humor. Like the dude needs some serious therapy, he was literally tortured in scrap and tap, and never talks about it, not even with Nya, his literal wife. His character is declining because his mental health is declining, I want an episode where it's just all the ninja going to therapy

1. Brilliant. Need this aspect of him back immediately. 2. They completely changed his character and made him almost insufferable at times. As a whole. 3. Terrible. Absolutely not.
15:15 you've mentioned while talking about the last episode that Jay's last wish was his smartest moment, but I personally think that this second wish was on the same level of his oblivous-smartness. Like, okay, he didn't mean to use the second wish, but he did and actually saved himself from saying the third wish, too (Nadakhan would surely extract it from him somehow). We can see how the djinn was upset that Jay didn't ask for what he was expected to. In both cases Jay acted on pure instinct, selfishness and without proper thinking what he was saying through. The others usually got angry with him when he did so, but in these two little moments his biggest flaws turned into his superlatives. I honestly liked that when I was watching this season because it brought justice to Jay being thrown away as just always the idiot who never brings any valuable thoughts to the table.
*3:35* I agree with this statement, but for me personally, Skybound was a *HUGE* hit. It's easily in my top 3 favorite Ninjago seasons. I agree that it has some flaws in writing and structure, but I can get over them when the rest of it is so goddamn great. The entire journey to defeat Nadakhan is phenomenally paced, all the individual sidetracks the characters take make sense, and the humungous threat of a powerful villain is sensed all throughou- CAN WE JUST PLEASE TALK ABOUT NADAKHAN? His concept is great and intriguing! He's a Djeenie, but instead of granting a wish that was requested, he twists them up into scenarios that benefit him. He's extremely cunning, constantly great at deception, he actually *ACHIEVES* his grand end goal, at least for a while, which is very rare but very good to see in villains, and he and his crew are a legitemate menace whilst being full of charm and character. Also, he might just be one of the most powerful villains (Which, in a show this full of extremely powerful villains, is a humungous praise) in the entire series so the length the characters go to stop him make total sense, with finding an extremely powerful venom that manages to harm him specifically, but not even outright kill! He's easily my favorite villain of the entire series and overall a *good* example of an overpowered villain (In most other cases with overpowered apocalyptic threat villains in Ninjago, they get defeated in a generic and straightforward way: Villain reaches its final form and wrecks shit for a while, character powers up, character attacks the villain, there's a big explosion, *ZE GODDAMN END).* Yeah, his backstory is a bit corny blah blah blah doesn't really matter to me that much. Nadakhan's definitely the strongest point of this season, together with its visuals, that I'm glad you pointed out. As a kid I _ALWAYS_ got chills when watching the intro for Skybound. It is really great. Also I'm glad that this season is really dedicated to Jay, who was more of a comic relief side gag character for most of the series until that point, and he's surprisingly deeper and more complex than one might initially assume. For the negatives, yeah, the Nia and Nadakhan (And even the Nia and Jay part to a certain extent) is a bit bullshit, some of the pirates are kinda sorta redeemed a bit to quickly at the end, and of course, the Achilles' heel itself, Jay's final wish (which the comidic masterpiece ''Jay's Last Wish'' by Foxtale ua-cam.com/video/9lG7hsSNNYs/v-deo.html&ab_channel=FoxTale2614 adresses in a very goofy way that I adore), which is certainly a flaw worth adressing, but the silly 11 year old me watching the season's finale always looked over it by saying ''Eh was is in total agony from the tiger widow venom it makes sense for him to not have been able to smugly twist the pretty easily exploitable final wish of Jay,'' which is a totally valid explanation, but it still feels a bit cheap to defeat such a deceptive, sly and clever antagonist in such a perfectly loophole-abe way. Despite these flaws, I still overall enjoy this ending a lot, and always thought it was very well executed. Well that about sums it up XD
You know, I used to really hate Skybound. I used to hate it so much I could barely even watch it at all. I'm not even sure WHY I hated it so much, it just seemed super boring to me. Then, somehow, in someway, I watch it again and I all of a sudden really appreciate it. It's like all my hate for it decided to fly out the window and now it's among my favorites. Although I by no means say it's the absolute best, because there are still some problems I have with it and some episodes I don't care too much for, but I have found that I do like it WAY more than I used to and I don't even know how that happened. It's like I just woke up one day and liked it after hating it for years. It's so weird how that happened

But that doesn't matter because they shafted nya a lot and made her into a damsel in distress who needs saving and won by THE MALE protagonist, and it's pretty moronic considering that jay isn't important whatsoever since it wasn’t implied that nadakhan won't grant wishes for other people like you know.. THE REPLACEMENT TEAM? couldn't one of them just wish for everything to return back to normal and for nadakhan to never be released? Nya made the dumbest decision possible by playing the bait since she's the villain's main objective, and if he married her, he will be unstoppable, and the writers want us to believe that nya is strong and independent.. She made herself get captured. Brainwashed and then died...
Because of how Nya was feeling in the moment, Jay felt like he was losing her and believed he had to put on a fake persona. Makes sense from his perspective.
LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! Skybound feels like the best parts of Seabound and the worst parts of Rebooted mushed together imo THANK YOU for the Ronin appreciation, it feels like he only ever gets hated on so this was super refreshing. The highlight of Skybound for me was Jay and Cole, I agree with everything you said about them. Their dynamic is just amazing and the recovery after Rebooted makes it so worth it. I never noticed the moment with Kai in the sword, you got me CACKLING lmfaoo My one minor disagreement is Jay’s speech in The Way Back. Yeah it was kinda plot convenience, but I also read into it more symbolically. I recently watched every season and even though Skybound is my least favorite season there is still things I adore. Jay and Cole's friendship is at its peak and I really felt for Kai when he was send back in time and saw Ray. Nadakan in general I do like, he's manipulative in a way we haven't seen before and I actually felt threatened by him.... The whole "you look like my dead lover therefore you are" is not great. Nya's feelings are very valid but im not buying the whole "I knew from the start we were meant to be, long before you even knew Jay" BS at the lighthouse, Jaya is cute yes, but this goes DIRECTLY against what Nya stands for, not being tied down to lables, just to lable herself as "Meant to be with Jay from the start" just rubs me the wrong way Also Now I might be dumb, and please explain why, but Jay wished for it all to go back. Nya takes his hand... but they never stop Clause in finding the lamp so what changes really, does Nadakan not exist anymore? I started watching you at the Cole video, and definitely not because he's my favorite and I scearch for videos focusing on him on a weekly basis or anything 😂 But you are very quickly becoming one of my favorite Ninjago creators on the platform, so I cant wait to hear more from you ❤
Actually, Jay says something along the lines of 'I wish the teapot was never found' or something during his final wish, and it gets buried in other junk and never found! Not tryna be rude, just wanna clarify that, even if almost a year late ^^
The sexism was on purpose. This season was a lot of nyas character arch not as much as jays but it was definitely there. The reason nya closed her heart to jay and shut him down was cuz she didn’t wanna feel like she was just the girl friend to one of the ninjas on the team. She wanted to be her own person and an individual. The media marketed her as “the girl ninja” and it shows from the first episode that it all got to her head. She was put down as the damsel in destress once again. Deep down she loved jay but it would make her feel vulnerable to let him into her heart.
I finished watching the video and I just want to say, the video is very well done! I liked hearing all your opinions, especially with how you feel about Nadakhan and Nya. I know Season 6 is in the middle tier for me after seeing a couple of flaws about it, but it still hasn't changed my appreciation to it and I think it's a great-good season, but not as good as the others I agree that I absolutely wanted the Ninja to remember everything that happened to keep their development, and Nadakhan is my 4th favorite villain because he's a threatening and compelling villain who always plays mindgames on the ninja to get what he wants, and I get your problem with Nadakhan and Nya, but personally, Nadakhan only wanted to marry Nya for his own interest because he's evil and wants revenge on the ninja for what happened to his father, so that's the only way Nadakhan could go about it in order to get infinite wishes in which he succeeded but then his overconfidence ended up being his demise. At one point Echo Zane was meant to be Mr E in sons of Garmadon I feel like jay and nya not talking about or telling anyone about Echo Zane leading to him to become a Villian who would help the Sons of Garmadon, would have a a consequence of jay and nya not telling Anyone about them, and possibly the biggest consequences of it

Nadakahn might be my favourite Ninjago villain and probably the smartest villain the ninja has ever faced, he was able to manipulate and twist people's words, leaving everything they say to be subjective and said in a state of confusion/panic where they wouldn't think of the possibilities. Because of that, he was clever enough to pick off every ninja one by one, and only leaving Nya and Jay left. I know later in the season he becomes kind of unsettling in a bad way where his obsession with Nya gets really overdone but still that doesn't take away from me enjoying him as an overall villain. In fact, he technically won in getting Darla back and turning Ninjago into his home Genjago, if it wasn't for Jay's final wish Nya would be dead, Lloyd would still be permanently old and the city wouldn't be crushed by falling islands
Is it just me who thinks that it would be just a little more interesting if Jay was hit with the poison instead? That way his last wish would be more understandable because why would it matter he's literally dying
the parts about ronin i 100% agree with but with nadakahn you have to remember that one, he doesnt care about her to even know her age (to him nya is just delara), 2. nadakahn is from possibly 100s of years in the past where laws like loving minors werent in place AND he only married her so he could have infinite wishes

Even though I disagree with you, I did enjoy this video as you brought up some interesting points, skybound is still one of my fav seasons to rewatch along with the oni trilogy but it was nice to get some insight from ppl who werent fond with it, good video overall.

10:27 the ninja aren’t teenagers……right? I always thought the ninja were young adults in the beginning of the series. Kai and Nya are living on their own in the pilot so at the very least Kai hast to be an adult and if Jay was a teenager, I feel like his parents should be more concerned about him spending so much time with some strange old man they’ve never met. And even if the ninja were teenagers at the beginning of the series, there’s no way there’s still teenagers by skybound right? Because an entire city fawning over teenagers is really…….weird. I also don’t understand is how much time passed between Legacy of the green ninja and rebooted. In rebooted the ninja are teachers and that requires going to college which takes years and scales had a kid who is still very young but already knows how to walk and talk and seems to be about four. So at the very least a few years had to of passed in between legacy of the green ninja and rebooted but that doesn’t make any sense because according to hunted, the ninja are still teenagers? Even though they were teachers in rebooted? Also jay proposes to Nya in march of the oni which I don’t think takes place that long after hunted but in hunted Kai said they were teenagers, which again makes no sense. I’m pretty sure the ninja are adults and that a good 4 years passed in between legacy of the green ninja and rebooted and that line about them being teenagers in hunted is complete bullshit and a continuity error. Why are the ages of the Ninjago characters so confusing🫠
Canonly the ninja are around 15 in the pilot episodes (stated by the creator) and aren't adults until Seabound (or a bit before. But they were around 19 in Hunted, as stated by Jay, who called them "grown up teenagers".)

Ninjago’s not known for handling the aftermath of what they put characters through though, and fair enough kids show. Back on the topic of Nahdakan his predatory behavior towards teenagers!!🤢 And I’m not just talking about the awful Nya scenes. Got I HOPE Jay was just in Nahdakan’s room by mistake when Cole rescued him. But it really makes me think about that one weird brushed over line in Sons of Garmadon where Jay Says “uh cole you don’t argue with a man who’s navel is that close”….uhh JAY ARE YOU OK??! I CAN’T SEE ANY NON AWFUL IMPLICATIONS OF THIS LINE SO IT WEGHS ON MY BRAIN. Help I can’t unsee please convince me it’s something Nahdakan wouldn’t do cause I’m haunted. I actually made a very similar video to this three months ago. Even the title is similar. My video is called “skybound is a flawed Masterpiece”😂. Anyway I love skybound. It’s one of my favorite seasons but I am fully willing to admit it is far from perfect. It definitely has problems but it also does so much right including the ending which I absolutely love. Skybound used to be tied as my favorite season along with sons of Garmadon but I have recently rewatch the entire series and now seabound has dethroned both of them and now that’s my favorite season but even so I still love sk pound. I don’t agree with all of your opinions in this video but this is a really great video!
usually im a weak man and just go with whatever ship is popular in a fandom but skybound alone is what really turned me off of jaya. they have good moments here and there but it doesn't feel mutual. it just feels like the writers flipped a switch in her that made her like jay all of a sudden. in the previous seasons they were all for showing jay openly swooning over nya, but never really the reverse. its felt onesided for me and skybound somewhat hammers that in for me. i still really enjoy the story that skybound tells but it doesn't have the mutual pining aspect of romance stories that make them believable for me. a relationship based off of jay needing nya but not the other way around itsn't my favorite
i personally just see it as nya having a different way of showing her affection, in my opinion this sets up the scene in Seabound where she mouths "I love you" to be really powerful because we've never seen her say that before. I don't think every romance has to have the pair gushing over each other, it's very natural to have different love languages and over the course of the show it is very refreshing to see the girl in the relationship represent that.
I don't think Nya is supposed to be a teenager. The ninja always seemed to be portrayed as young adults to me, but in a way that is very relatable to a teenage audience. Nadakhan's still r^pist coded, though, no question.

the more i watch your videos, the more i agree with you (binging rn 😜). when i first watched this season, i was like, 7, and i didnt think of nadakhan as a sexual assaulter since i had never come across the topic before. at the point i liked the season, and it was around the time when skybound came out that i got my first ninjago set. years later when i rewatched this season (combined with videos like this about skybound), i realised how disgusting of a character nadakhan is. the season is not bad, the villain is, but i simply cannot like the season because of him. great video btw!
Skybound is okay but tell me why do you make a season that the other ninja forget ? Others like hands of time could be forgotten ( because yeah it's time people) there is a lot of work in this season but it won't make the top 10 for me ! If I'm being honest I have never seen a single season past its been a while but I think it's called 'masters of time' and I personally love all of the seasons before that one but sky bound was just a gint pile of sh#t
tbh. all potential flaws are overshadowed for me, due to the existence of Clancee. i like this little goober and i like the scene where he finally stands up against Nadakhan. as for the "undone character-development" in Jay... eh... i dunno. was never that noticable for me. and i think it's not TOO bad, since character-development in REAL life isn't a straight line. sometimes, you repeat the mistakes, you did in the past. sometimes you go back to your bad ways, without noticing. though i have to admit, that i'm kinda trying to fill a possible plothole with my own interpretations here. and in hindsight, if the series acknowledged that Jay was regressing, as in: him getting a realization "shit, didn't i make the same mistake, some time ago?" would've most likely make it work, far better. but maybe i'm just ramblin'... but here is what i consider to be objectively bad in Skybound: Doubloon never gets to do anything, besides ONE scene, where he shows off his spinjitsu. seriously! he is one of the most wasted Ninjago-Characters! and i would've liked a scene where Dareth apologized to Nya ON-SCREEN.
I hard disagree, I'd say this season is easily top 5 along with 4,5,8 and 9, Villains are great, it's one of the few seasons to actually make full use of its focus character, lots of funny moments and great concepts, I honestly don't even mind the weird stuff with Nadakhan as he's already supposed to be unlikely and it fits within his slimy nature, Honestly outside of like the first 2 parts of the Oni trilogy this feels as good as Ninjago can be(only on season 14 btw so I don't know about DR)

The weirder thing is that Nadakhan didn't grant this wish since it was already the case to begin with. Jay really wasn't born in a junkyard so what gives? Jay got cheated.
Maybe Nadakhan doesn't grant wishes that are already true. So he wouldn't grant his wish of being rich because he already was rich, he just anticipated his bio dad's death, but, assuming Libber actually delivered him in the Junkyard (either on purpose or accidentally), his wish of "not being born in a Junkyard" was valid so that's what he granted.
@Lora_of_Lores Edna isn't Jay's bio mom, but Libber could've delivered him in the Junkyard (dreadful place to do so but ok) therefore he could've been born in the Junkyard, making that half of the wish technically valid.
I personally believe that this is because when you try to make a wish you have to be specific with it or else Nadakan could twist it. Meaning you have to explain how you want the wish to go jay was specific with what he wanted from his wish but he didn't explain how he was going to get that wish. And also Jay wasn't born in a junkyard so Nadakan didn't care and thus didn't grant that wish.
My biggest hot take will always and forever be that Rebooted is more divisive than Skybound. I'm not kidding lol. Everyone thinks Skybound is the divisive season, but if you ask people how they feel about Rebooted, you will get a whole RANGE of answers from love to outright hatred. That being said though, great video! I always love Skybound analysis vids (there's like a ton of them now) and this is great. Keep it up!
I think they are exact opposites as well. Reboot was meh until the ending which was glorious. While Skybound was built up pretty good until the ending which makes it so you can skip it and nothing changes because of that last wish.
Rebooted is not that good, it's way too rushed, Zane doesn't get the focus he should have and the Overlord blows as a villain
It's my personal belief that Jay's character gets worse, because he just is progressively getting more trauma and his only reaction to it is humor. Like the dude needs some serious therapy, he was literally tortured in scrap and tap, and never talks about it, not even with Nya, his literal wife. His character is declining because his mental health is declining, I want an episode where it's just all the ninja going to therapy

15:15 you've mentioned while talking about the last episode that Jay's last wish was his smartest moment, but I personally think that this second wish was on the same level of his oblivous-smartness. Like, okay, he didn't mean to use the second wish, but he did and actually saved himself from saying the third wish, too (Nadakhan would surely extract it from him somehow). We can see how the djinn was upset that Jay didn't ask for what he was expected to.
In both cases Jay acted on pure instinct, selfishness and without proper thinking what he was saying through. The others usually got angry with him when he did so, but in these two little moments his biggest flaws turned into his superlatives.
I honestly liked that when I was watching this season because it brought justice to Jay being thrown away as just always the idiot who never brings any valuable thoughts to the table.

*3:35* I agree with this statement, but for me personally, Skybound was a *HUGE* hit. It's easily in my top 3 favorite Ninjago seasons. I agree that it has some flaws in writing and structure, but I can get over them when the rest of it is so goddamn great. The entire journey to defeat Nadakhan is phenomenally paced, all the individual sidetracks the characters take make sense, and the humungous threat of a powerful villain is sensed all throughou- CAN WE JUST PLEASE TALK ABOUT NADAKHAN? His concept is great and intriguing! He's a Djeenie, but instead of granting a wish that was requested, he twists them up into scenarios that benefit him. He's extremely cunning, constantly great at deception, he actually *ACHIEVES* his grand end goal, at least for a while, which is very rare but very good to see in villains, and he and his crew are a legitemate menace whilst being full of charm and character. Also, he might just be one of the most powerful villains (Which, in a show this full of extremely powerful villains, is a humungous praise) in the entire series so the length the characters go to stop him make total sense, with finding an extremely powerful venom that manages to harm him specifically, but not even outright kill! He's easily my favorite villain of the entire series and overall a *good* example of an overpowered villain (In most other cases with overpowered apocalyptic threat villains in Ninjago, they get defeated in a generic and straightforward way: Villain reaches its final form and wrecks shit for a while, character powers up, character attacks the villain, there's a big explosion, *ZE GODDAMN END).* Yeah, his backstory is a bit corny blah blah blah doesn't really matter to me that much. Nadakhan's definitely the strongest point of this season, together with its visuals, that I'm glad you pointed out. As a kid I _ALWAYS_ got chills when watching the intro for Skybound. It is really great. Also I'm glad that this season is really dedicated to Jay, who was more of a comic relief side gag character for most of the series until that point, and he's surprisingly deeper and more complex than one might initially assume. For the negatives, yeah, the Nia and Nadakhan (And even the Nia and Jay part to a certain extent) is a bit bullshit, some of the pirates are kinda sorta redeemed a bit to quickly at the end, and of course, the Achilles' heel itself, Jay's final wish (which the comidic masterpiece ''Jay's Last Wish'' by Foxtale ua-cam.com/video/9lG7hsSNNYs/v-deo.html&ab_channel=FoxTale2614 adresses in a very goofy way that I adore), which is certainly a flaw worth adressing, but the silly 11 year old me watching the season's finale always looked over it by saying ''Eh was is in total agony from the tiger widow venom it makes sense for him to not have been able to smugly twist the pretty easily exploitable final wish of Jay,'' which is a totally valid explanation, but it still feels a bit cheap to defeat such a deceptive, sly and clever antagonist in such a perfectly loophole-abe way. Despite these flaws, I still overall enjoy this ending a lot, and always thought it was very well executed.

You know, I used to really hate Skybound. I used to hate it so much I could barely even watch it at all. I'm not even sure WHY I hated it so much, it just seemed super boring to me. Then, somehow, in someway, I watch it again and I all of a sudden really appreciate it. It's like all my hate for it decided to fly out the window and now it's among my favorites. Although I by no means say it's the absolute best, because there are still some problems I have with it and some episodes I don't care too much for, but I have found that I do like it WAY more than I used to and I don't even know how that happened. It's like I just woke up one day and liked it after hating it for years. It's so weird how that happened
12:08 i remember getting to this scene on my rewatch and being shocked it made it past the screening process. between pixal's comment, the mechanics obsession, zane being pinned down, and the fact it takes place in a prison.. it reads as incredibly rapey no matter how you look at it. i thought i was going crazy bc i havent seen anyone talk about it, so much so i showed the scene to friends who all agreed it was super strange. def not the intention but still disturbing content to be in a show made for elementary children

But that doesn't matter because they shafted nya a lot and made her into a damsel in distress who needs saving and won by THE MALE protagonist, and it's pretty moronic considering that jay isn't important whatsoever since it wasn’t implied that nadakhan won't grant wishes for other people like you know.. THE REPLACEMENT TEAM? couldn't one of them just wish for everything to return back to normal and for nadakhan to never be released? Nya made the dumbest decision possible by playing the bait since she's the villain's main objective, and if he married her, he will be unstoppable, and the writers want us to believe that nya is strong and independent.. She made herself get captured. Brainwashed and then died...
Because of how Nya was feeling in the moment, Jay felt like he was losing her and believed he had to put on a fake persona. Makes sense from his perspective.

My one minor disagreement is Jay’s speech in The Way Back. Yeah it was kinda plot convenience, but I also read into it more symbolically. Nadakhan is like a voice in peoples’ heads telling them they aren’t fulfilled, they aren’t good enough, etc (plus there are some interesting implications to him making people give up their lives…) So I felt like the speech was more of an analogy for breaking out of that mindset

I recently watched every season and even though Skybound is my least favorite season there is still things I adore.
Jay and Cole's friendship is at its peak and I really felt for Kai when he was send back in time and saw Ray. Nadakan in general I do like, he's manipulative in a way we haven't seen before and I actually felt threatened by him....
The whole "you look like my dead lover therefore you are" is not great.
Nya's feelings are very valid but im not buying the whole "I knew from the start we were meant to be, long before you even knew Jay" BS at the lighthouse, Jaya is cute yes, but this goes DIRECTLY against what Nya stands for, not being tied down to lables, just to lable herself as "Meant to be with Jay from the start" just rubs me the wrong way

Actually, Jay says something along the lines of 'I wish the teapot was never found' or something during his final wish, and it gets buried in other junk and never found! Not tryna be rude, just wanna clarify that, even if almost a year late ^^
The sexism was on purpose. This season was a lot of nyas character arch not as much as jays but it was definitely there. The reason nya closed her heart to jay and shut him down was cuz she didn’t wanna feel like she was just the girl friend to one of the ninjas on the team. She wanted to be her own person and an individual. The media marketed her as “the girl ninja” and it shows from the first episode that it all got to her head. She was put down as the damsel in destress once again. Deep down she loved jay but it would make her feel vulnerable to let him into her heart.
I finished watching the video and I just want to say, the video is very well done! I liked hearing all your opinions, especially with how you feel about Nadakhan and Nya.
I know Season 6 is in the middle tier for me after seeing a couple of flaws about it, but it still hasn't changed my appreciation to it and I think it's a great-good season, but not as good as the others I agree that I absolutely wanted the Ninja to remember everything that happened to keep their development, and Nadakhan is my 4th favorite villain because he's a threatening and compelling villain who always plays mindgames on the ninja to get what he wants, and I get your problem with Nadakhan and Nya, but personally, Nadakhan only wanted to marry Nya for his own interest because he's evil and wants revenge on the ninja for what happened to his father, so that's the only way Nadakhan could go about it in order to get infinite wishes in which he succeeded but then his overconfidence ended up being his demise. There are others that I liked and others that I don't like, but other than that great-good middle tier season for me!

Nadakahn might be my favourite Ninjago villain and probably the smartest villain the ninja has ever faced, he was able to manipulate and twist people's words, leaving everything they say to be subjective and said in a state of confusion/panic where they wouldn't think of the possibilities. Because of that, he was clever enough to pick off every ninja one by one, and only leaving Nya and Jay left. I know later in the season he becomes kind of unsettling in a bad way where his obsession with Nya gets really overdone but still that doesn't take away from me enjoying him as an overall villain. In fact, he technically won in getting Darla back and turning Ninjago into his home Genjago, if it wasn't for Jay's final wish Nya would be dead, Lloyd would still be permanently old and the city wouldn't be crushed by falling islands
My favorite part is misfit cast by the end of side characters that would never normally be seen together working, I love stories like that to death
Is it just me who thinks that it would be just a little more interesting if Jay was hit with the poison instead? That way his last wish would be more understandable because why would it matter he's literally dying

10:27 the ninja aren’t teenagers……right? I always thought the ninja were young adults in the beginning of the series. Kai and Nya are living on their own in the pilot so at the very least Kai hast to be an adult and if Jay was a teenager, I feel like his parents should be more concerned about him spending so much time with some strange old man they’ve never met. And even if the ninja were teenagers at the beginning of the series, there’s no way there’s still teenagers by skybound right? Because an entire city fawning over teenagers is really…….weird. I also don’t understand is how much time passed between Legacy of the green ninja and rebooted. In rebooted the ninja are teachers and that requires going to college which takes years and scales had a kid who is still very young but already knows how to walk and talk and seems to be about four. So at the very least a few years had to of passed in between legacy of the green ninja and rebooted but that doesn’t make any sense because according to hunted, the ninja are still teenagers? Even though they were teachers in rebooted? Also jay proposes to Nya in march of the oni which I don’t think takes place that long after hunted but in hunted Kai said they were teenagers, which again makes no sense. I’m pretty sure the ninja are adults and that a good 4 years passed in between legacy of the green ninja and rebooted and that line about them being teenagers in hunted is complete bullshit and a continuity error. Why are the ages of the Ninjago characters so confusing🫠
Canonly the ninja are around 15 in the pilot episodes (stated by the creator) and aren't adults until Seabound (or a bit before. But they were around 19 in Hunted, as stated by Jay, who called them "grown up teenagers".)
I Love Skybound They could’ve handled the sexism A LOT Better it annoys me and leaves people focused on how Nya is treating Jay mare than how she is being treated. And honestly Jay might deserve it cause they made his motivation forcing Nya to love is strange.

AND on the topic that of that Nahdakan’s a cool Villain but his lack of care for personal and consistent lack of caring about Consent at all triggers my fight of flight. Add in the sadist enjoyment of torturing Jay. He got beat up till he couldn’t fight. was given false hope, and then was beat up again. Scap and tap was also not addressed ever Jays just like ‘yeah I was scrubbing the deck a lot that’s why I’m beaten TF up’. Got I HOPE Jay was just in Nahdakan’s room by mistake when Cole rescued him. But it really makes me think about that one weird brushed over line in Sons of Garmadon where Jay Says “uh cole you don’t argue with a man who’s navel is that close”….uhh JAY ARE YOU OK??! I CAN’T SEE ANY NON AWFUL IMPLICATIONS OF THIS LINE SO IT WEGHS ON MY BRAIN. Help I can’t unsee please convince me it’s something Nahdakan wouldn’t do cause I’m haunted. I actually made a very similar video to this three months ago. Even the title is similar. My video is called “skybound is a flawed Masterpiece”😂. Anyway I love skybound. It’s one of my favorite seasons but I am fully willing to admit it is far from perfect. It definitely has problems but it also does so much right including the ending which I absolutely love. Skybound used to be tied as my favorite season along with sons of Garmadon but I have recently rewatch the entire series and now seabound has dethroned both of them and now that’s my favorite season but even so I still love sk pound. I don’t agree with all of your opinions in this video but this is a really great video!
usually im a weak man and just go with whatever ship is popular in a fandom but skybound alone is what really turned me off of jaya. they have good moments here and there but it doesn't feel mutual. it just feels like the writers flipped a switch in her that made her like jay all of a sudden. in the previous seasons they were all for showing jay openly swooning over nya, but never really the reverse. its felt onesided for me and skybound somewhat hammers that in for me. i still really enjoy the story that skybound tells but it doesn't have the mutual pining aspect of romance stories that make them believable for me. a relationship based off of jay needing nya but not the other way around itsn't my favorite
i personally just see it as nya having a different way of showing her affection, in my opinion this sets up the scene in Seabound where she mouths "I love you" to be really powerful because we've never seen her say that before. I don't think every romance has to have the pair gushing over each other, it's very natural to have different love languages and over the course of the show it is very refreshing to see the girl in the relationship represent that.

the more i watch your videos, the more i agree with you (binging rn 😜). when i first watched this season, i was like, 7, and i didnt think of nadakhan as a sexual assaulter since i had never come across the topic before. at the point i liked the season, and it was around the time when skybound came out that i got my first ninjago set. years later when i rewatched this season (combined with videos like this about skybound), i realised how disgusting of a character nadakhan is. the season is not bad, the villain is, but i simply cannot like the season because of him. great video btw!

I hard disagree, I'd say this season is easily top 5 along with 4,5,8 and 9, Villains are great, it's one of the few seasons to actually make full use of its focus character, lots of funny moments and great concepts, I honestly don't even mind the weird stuff with Nadakhan as he's already supposed to be unlikely and it fits within his slimy nature, Honestly outside of like the first 2 parts of the Oni trilogy this feels as good as Ninjago can be(only on season 14 btw so I don't know about DR)
