Yup. Sounds about right. But I visualize myself constantly using it and having so much fun. Edit: I bought it and use it all the time. You can use a lot of reverb, which I really would never normally use, but you can play with it because the gift of this pedal besides the ridiculous hi-fi tones, is that doesn’t get in the way of your playing. Also, if you record anything besides guitar, this is the pedal you want for vocals, drums or synths. My favorite are the effect on vocals and drums. It completely transforms vocals but also drum sounds as well.
I love that Dan said "...these reverbs go one step beyond", and without missing a beat, Mick hums the first few notes of the Madness classic! These moments are so ephemeral, yet so fun.
Spot on about these sorts of reverbs being transformative instruments in and of themselves. When I was trracking our first ep with my group we were lacking a synth/piano player at the time. I grabbed a big sky, no instructions, found a texture I like, cranked extreme setting and had a go. Ended up with what sounded more like a synth and orchestra than anything guitar related. You really just have to let go and let them do their thing. I sat with the guitar on my lap for most of it with a glass slide. Once you break out of that headspace the possibilities are endless and this isn't even for ambient music necessarily but just sonic soundscapes you could not achieve otherwise
Loved seeing Mick play the gold top LP. The sound suits him and he always sounds good playing them. And on topic, I can't live without reverb. It and a boost are the only effects I can't live without.
I echo (appropriately) everyone saying you should play with 2 guitars together more. Not only are the jams wonderful, but it really demonstrates the points you make about sitting in a mix, or having a part with an effect for texture, or comparing frequencies. More, please!

I've never gone to Andertons faster. In four years of weekly obsessive watching and rewatching of your shows, learning as I go, I didn't even wait til half way. You were about a minute into the Nightsky, Dan, and programming that infinite loop with arpeggio. Honestly never pressed the big red danger button as quickly. Unchuffing believable. Massive respect to Strymon - I've been playing with programmable effects in DAW for years but it's never felt right. The way you both responded to the output coming from that thing was enough - that's what I've been missing. Awesome. Truly awesome. 🙌🏻 for TPS as always. Yas!
That 'hall' algorithm on the CXM is possibly (probably) the best hall-type reverb I have ever heard. I am lucky enough to own some amazing reverb pedals and an Axe FX III. The best reverbs I have used, up to now, have been from plugins. This pedal looks very well thought-out with a perfect feauture set IMO. My £50 Valhalla Room plugin will probably get me close enough for the sake of an £850 saving, but this is the best reverb I have heard in a pedal. Wow.
Oddly enough, I was chatting with a buddy of mine that I needed a reverb pedal as the delay I was using to get "close" wasn't quite what I wanted. Way more than what I would use normally.... normally. I think I just want to have the Blackhole so I can say that I turned off the gravity.
When I got The Eventide Space it sounded like I was in a huge cinematic production like Star Wars, Kuebrick, or Spielberg movies. The stereo field was swallowed by the black hole for sure. Unbelievable but I decided to ditch it for the Big Sky which is a great multi purpose studio reverb too. The Night Sky is wild but it will not replace your main reverb.
Just wanted to say I love you guys and your show. It's hard to explain the "simple" stuff while getting some depth and making it entertaining and interesting. Thanks for doing it
In respect to the strymon doing a lot of crazy sounds and in search for inspiration, here’s something you may or maybe not aware of - The H9 (which has The Blackhole) has a feature in the control software called Random. This is an incredible thing and works on every single algorithm. 👍🏻
