sound advice, im in school for welding, last week i heard a yelp from the booth beside mine. went through his shoe and burned his foot just as you described word for word
I ran into that just this last summer while welding with my everlast. I hear having ear protection is important too. Hot spark burning hair and wax in your ear canal is apparently quite painful!
I'm on the fence about this one. My grinders with extra thick XP flap discs get the guard. But really it was needed because i was one handing the grinder when i should have had 2 hands on it and it got away. Otherwise I don't trust the guard to stop debre or an exploding disc, and they always seem to get in the way, that's what the leather gloves, safety glasses AND face shield is for.
Always use a grinder guard Anyone who takes it off even if it's a grinding disk is an idiot. Never ever take it off. Ever. If you're a welder taking the guard off will guarantee you getting fired The grinder is the most dangerous tool you'll use. Always take ever safety precaution there is available.
What's with no guards on grinders and saying you need auto dark hoods auto dark this auto dark that like you don't need batteries on a fixed shade hood less money
You might want to switch out that work clamp you have on your welder. My everlast welders have much better clamps than the one I had one my old welder and I swear the power gets to the metal so much better than with those jumper cable clamps.
First of all. Do NOT wear mechanix gloves. Leather, not nylon, not cotton. Leather. Mechanic gloves are great at melting all over you hand and a good hospital trip peeling it off and it’s not pretty.
Thanks! I'm an up and coming highschool welder. Been at it for 3 years now so most of this is just review but it never hurts
I agree also the guards on those grinders are very important too

Would fire resistant coveralls and leather boots be ok for welding
Thanks for the video it is good validation on what I should have to go with my powerarc welder.
Any advice on what tools I would need to convert my hobby to a side job? I'd like to make money from my everlast welders.
Has this man never used fixed shade? It's not that bad. Arc strikes are still very easy with fixed shade.
What brand is that helmet you got there?
Thanks for these tips these were very helpful
this was for school because its a career project
What about a tape measure and a ruller?
