I have immense respect for Clint Eastwood for having the balls to make a film about the Japanese perspective with the same level of respect as the American side.
I'm just gonna put this here for reference. The actor they're talking about is Ninomiya Kazunari, a member of the boyband Arashi, and he's been acting since 15 y/o. He was 23 y/o when Letters from Iwo Jima came out.
I even heard Ken Watanabe (who played Gen. Kuribayashi) helped with Eastwood as a translator on set since he could fluently speak English. Plus, I get how it wasn’t really that hard for the Japanese actors to get what Eastwood wants from them, you’re basically depicting pure raw human emotions that come out in war. It’s honestly one of the best war films to date because it really captures the humanity of both sides from that battle.

It was excellent.
Class act
fantastic movie!!!
wow it makes me happy that he knows the difference between a translator and an interpreter. also this was a good movie
Mr Clint Eastwood make a movie about Americans japanese in ww2 ...Go for broke BN 442 they are heroes and real Samurai
I know that you meant that figuratively
but they are not true samurai
samurais are a social class not just some sort of soldier
This show looks soooooooooo vintage but his movie wasn't.
Nino was and is a big star
You don't have to understand a person to truly understand a person.
