Nothing too shocking here. Peter realized that in order to be a success on his own, he needed to break away from the charismatic star- Marriott. Peter wrote "Steve just sucked all the oxygen out of the room". Although there may have been hurt feelings and harsh words at the time, they did make peace and even got together shortly before Steve's death to try to put another album. Peter has said he was devestated by Steve's death and hoped that they would have been able to finish the album.
They were so perfect together - I hate that Frampton left so early. And it's a shame that they replaced him with Clem instead of a jazzy rocker like Peter. Why did no one get the fact that Jazz and hard rock mix like white and black black to make the most beautiful babies.
Is this all true because the Small Faces went a bit wierd with the album Ogdens nut gone Flake under the guidence of Steve Marriots change of music style.
Peter couldn't stay management wanted steve as leader frontman which was right he was a natural leader unbelievable singer great guitarist pete is also a great singer and fantastic guitarist ,clem clempson replaced peter and was great with a harder edge Live they where legendary check out live in San Francisco 1972 ,
When the pie where formed steve wanted pete to be centre stage and all the 4 members equal who where all superb musicians greg ridley bass who had a great voice also jerry shirley drums as good as anyone and of course pete and steve who didn't want to be leader but was, then clem clempson who replaced pete you should check out smoking and eat it albums,
