The flashing for the octaves is really interesting! I would've never thought of that as a design thing...That and the touch Pitch and Mod "wheels". Real creative!
Yes!!! Thank you haha. I started this channel in March of 2016 so if I stay persistent I hope for it to grow! In the meantime I am glad you found it and that you like the reviews!
+Peps Nicart Hi. Yes, as long as your computer supports audio, it does work without an interface if you plug it directly into a usb port. They both should work this way. How well it works depends on your computers sound card and ability to process the midi and audio plugins without an external interface. You might have to play with the latency settings some if you are able to.
Hi, when I restart an Ableton Live session, do the rotational buttons recognize the faders and parameters where they have been stopped since the last time the session was opened and start again from that point? thank you.
They do but in my experience sometimes it seems like I have to turn it one way or the other a bit before it realizes something is going on and triggers the edit. This only happens sometimes on the first try using a knob with preloaded settings upon opening a previously saved project. Hope this helps! It has been a nice little tool.
No problem. The trick for me is to just turn the knob a bit after I load the project and make sure it is kicking in. After that point it is smooth flowing. It might just be me with this experience, not sure.
Question. In the analog lab, i get to try out and play with the sounds and such. How do i program my minilab so that i can use those sounds in logic? Thank you!
Hi! I personally have not used Logic, but from the research I've done you should have the option to install Analog Lab as an AU plugin. AU is the format the Logic is compatible with. Then, create a software instrument channel, click where it says instruments and select AU instruments. You should see it in there. Hopefully this is enough to point you in the right direction!
You cannot record loops with the Arturia software, but if you get the limited edition version with Ableton Live Lite, you can use Live to record loops. Hope this helps!
I use Arturia MiniLab but without Analog Lab. Besides I cannot to use pads . I have had the problems with Analog lab. I use the plugins Anti Transpirant and Art Pyrite . How I could to use the drum pads ?
hmm, I haven't used those plugins before but I also tend to use it with other plugins besides Analog lab. Some vst plugins will have a "learn" button, where you can select the note or sample on the VST plugin, click the learn button, and then press one of the pads on the keyboard to program that pad to trigger the sample. If this isn't the case, you will probably have to go into the MIDI note mapping settings in the plugin and manually map the notes you want to the MIDI notes that the pads correspond to. Let me know if this helps and if you are able to figure it out from there! Thanks for watching!
. Thank you for your comprehensive explanation. As far as I know a booklet setting MIDI controller, it should have either Cubase (unfortunately paid) or Live. While Ableton is also payable. I had the Analog Lab for some time and then began to crash. I wrote to the management Arturii minilab on the subject. They offered me Analog Laboratory (another version). Unfortunately, it was the same. With me was a serviceman, who also worked in music and he could not set despite attempts. Just in my plugins I do not see the button "learn". Drums to my music I add from the Soundstation Studio and unite in Audacity. I do not remember how I managed to put the plug on the desktop. I tried to add other and I can not. I would be grateful if we could establish a correspondence not to write so much in the commentary. What do you think about this ?.
MYSTERIOUS SOUL Sure! You can send me a private message and I will see if I can find any tutorials or info to link you to. Unfortunately, I have not worked with Soundstation Studio or Audacity yet.. although a lot of people like Audacity.
Hi, currently they have a limited edition version, which is black/gray in color. This one comes with Ableton Live Lite to download for free, but I do not think the regular white version includes it. I checked my Arturia account online where I registered mine and did not have the option to download Live Lite. If I find out anything different, I will let you know!
***** I feel so silly sometimes with a metronome on playing beats on my drum pads haha, like I'm practicing tapping my fingers :P They sound so cool in the end tho!!
+Tariin kun haha! Actually that's sort of the idea I had in mind with the intro, as well as the music I make.. I want people to be like "what's happening!" but still enjoy it at the same time! That way I feel like I'm doing something new but still enjoyable I guess. I really appreciate the feedback and glad you found the video helpful. If you are interested in seeing it in action I have a few performance videos utilizing it on my keyboard rack on my channel (except the sounds it triggers on those videos are actually from Komplete 10). Thanks for watching!!!
This is a controller for the included digital instrument software. You have to install the Analog Lab software on your computer and then you can control it with the Minilab. However, to make and save a beat you will need recording/DAW softare such as Ableton Live, Cubase, Logic, etc... Many products like this one come with a free light version of Abelton Live, but honestly I'm not sure if this one still does or not. I'm thinking it does, but I wasn't able to find any mention of it with a quick online search. It would be something good to ask when you purchase it.
You might need something for drums/percussion. I'm not sure if Analog Lab has any percussion instruments.. I think it is all synths. If you have this, the included Analog Lab software, DAW software, and somethings for percussion sounds, that would be enough to get started making rap/rock beats.
+Joe Booker You can for FL studio and I'm pretty sure you can for Garageband 2, as long as it is compatible with midi controllers and virtual instruments.
Great Video! The Mini Lab looks very interesting ;) Do you Know if I can use the Mini Lab and the Software with FL Studio? (connect analog Lab with FL like you did it with ableton?)
I think so. I did a little research and it seems like you can, but there might be a few particular things you have to do to get it set up. Try searching for "How to install VST plugins in FL Studio" and this is what you would want to do. Hopefully this will help, but if you don't find it, let me know and I will see if I can do some more research when I get a chance. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! I tried it with the demo of analog lab and used it as an vst plugin in my FL Studio and it worked quite good. ;) There was just the problem that i if i wanted to record something i cant hear the sound anymore out of my speakers but i saw the peak in the mixer so the signal was ok. I think it was a problem with the Asio software i have to use to record in FL. Do you know this kind of problems? (I think i can figure it out when i use the real software of analog lab after i bought the mini lab.)
Hmmmm, I'm not sure. I haven't heard of this. Maybe it is your Asio software. Also, check your input and output settings within the FL studio control panel section, as well as what they are set to on the track. See if there is a setting anywhere to toggle monitoring for the recording track? Hopefully you get it figured out!
Yes, normally Ableton will automatically recognize it if you connect it before opening Ableton Live. You just have to create a new midi track and select the MiniLab for the input device on that track in Ableton. You will also need to have a midi instrument loaded on that track to play with the MiniLab. If you have insalled Analog Lab and want to use it, look under "plugins" on the left sidebar and drag Analog Lab into the rack section at the bottom of your Midi track (or to create a new Midi track with Analog Lab, just drag it into the main section next to the rest of your tracks). They should already show up, but if you are having trouble finding the MiniLab or Analog Lab, you will need to click options at the top and go to preferences. Look in the Midi / Sync section to make sure it is recognizing the MiniLab.. and look in the File / Folder section to make sure the "Library Location" path is where you have Analog Lab installed.
Sweet Video! I was wondering if you'd know (or anyone really) if and how it could be possible to use the Minilab to control an external synth such as the Waldorf Blofeld Desktop.. Would I be running my MiniLab USB into a device that has a MIDI out (running into the Blofeld), and would have to then probably toggle which device from my MAC???.... Anyone have experience successfully using the MiniLab with other HARDWARE??
+Nicholas Paris thank you! Yes, I believe what you said is correct. Since the MiniLab is usb you would need to run it to your computer recording software, and then back out into your other hardware. Using a recording interface that supports midi, hook a cable from the midi output of the interface into the midi input of the Blofeld. Set up a midi track in your recording software and set the input as the MiniLab, and the output as your recording interface's output going to the Blofeld. Make sure the track is activated and the settings on the Blofeld or other external hardware are set for receiving the midi signal to control it.
I watched this in 1.25x speed.
The flashing for the octaves is really interesting! I would've never thought of that as a design thing...That and the touch Pitch and Mod "wheels". Real creative!
***** haha I'm used to them actually being wheels :P I get what you mean about the drum pads too (drum pads are tricky to get used to anyways!!)
wow! your reviews are fantasticly, i don't know why you still don't have 1million subs
Yes!!! Thank you haha. I started this channel in March of 2016 so if I stay persistent I hope for it to grow! In the meantime I am glad you found it and that you like the reviews!
Hey guys, what are the main differences with the MK2 version? Do you think it worths the upgrade or not?
I am wondering this too.
how i can make the pads playing drums on drumrack in ableton?
Are there any major differences with MK2?
Hi, Todd. You mentioned bringing only a laptop with the minilab. Does it actually work even without an audio interface? How about the minilab mk2?
+Peps Nicart Hi. Yes, as long as your computer supports audio, it does work without an interface if you plug it directly into a usb port. They both should work this way. How well it works depends on your computers sound card and ability to process the midi and audio plugins without an external interface. Thank you. I hope your can do tutorials on how to produce music with the minilab. Thanks, again. That was helpful.
Thank you for your information . I will try to do like you explain me. I hope I will do it . Greet you from Poland
Dude, you sound like Christian Slater! Good and informative video. My mini lab is due in today.
Hahaha thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and appreciate you watching. Great choice, I've been super happy with mine!

IT WORKED! Thanks!!
YES!! That's great to know! Thanks for telling me!
Is there a cure to the knob fuckup with Ableton? Please! The knobs react in a terrible way, generating random values...
can you record or save beats as loops on the arturia software ?
You cannot record loops with the Arturia software, but if you get the limited edition version with Ableton Live Lite, you can use Live to record loops. Hope this helps!

What software come with Pyle 🤔
I heard it now comes with ableton live light as well, is this true ?

love the intro!
+Todd Audio NP!
Every time I hear it I'm like "I gotta relearn Fer Elise at some point" :P
***** I feel so silly sometimes with a metronome on playing beats on my drum pads haha, like I'm practicing tapping my fingers :P They sound so cool in the end tho!!
Me during the intro: what's happening? hahaha But yeah I like it too! And that's a great review, thank you

What software you using 🤔
Ableton Live is the audio software and the synth sound is Analog Labs.
Would I be able to link it with logic instead of abeleton?
Yes, you can use it as a midi controller within logic.
Awesome thanks! Just ordered mine 👍🏽
Excellent! Enjoy!
Hey would you be able to help me link the minilab mk2 to ableton?
