Thanks for the video! I qualified at the 91% line, but I don't expect to do "well" in QF. I'm new to the sport, but very excited about competition. I didn't know if I should bother signing up for QF, but based on the way y'all explained everything, now I know that I should! Appreciate y'all!
Anything else you can recommend for someone going into AGOQ QF’s when they’re gym doesn’t take the Games as seriously… most are in for bodybuilding and hanging out ~ or the coaches are in their own clique.. if we’re being Honest here
Currently listening but what would you say to someone who did 15'000th last year and 22'000th this year? Kind of frustrating given all the work done in a year. Thx
I understand your frustrations. Here are some thoughts for you to consider.... It is kind of an unfortunate reality we must deal with in the sport of CrossFit that they define the testing body every year, there is no uniformity, and it is hard to use as a barometer for progress. For example, last year in the open there was one workout with high skills (muscle ups) and another with both high skills and heavy weights (snatch/hspu). This year there was only one workout that had high skills or 'heavy-ish' loads which means that the test of fitness of the open was not really comparable from year to year. So, you can't ONLY measure your progress from year to year based on where you finished in the open. There are unfortunate realities in all sports and coping with loss/disappointment is actually part of the reason I suggest playing the games. In golf, you could get a day with bad weather. In track and field you might have your qualifying race on a day that you don't feel well and run slower than you do in training. In triathlon you might get a qualifying course that is really hilly which exposes a lack of ability to climb well. So, my first set of advice would be to deal with the frustration and stay positive and keep working if you are enjoying the process. My second follow up to that would be to create some bench marks for yourself that determine progress between you versus past you instead of focusing on you versus the leaderboard. This could include things like past open tests, strength metrics, unbroken reps of certain skills, and endurance tests. If you are getting better at all the skills, getting stronger, and improving your endurance, then I would say definitively that you are getting better at crossfit. That doesn't guarantee that you will finish higher on the leaderboard in a crossfit competition, but it can be an important thing to focus on that keeps you focused on things that make you feel good about yourself. So, like i said in the podcast, I don't think the open is always a valid test of your fitness. So try not to let the comparison on the leaderboard steal your joy if you know you are making gains. Keep your head up and be proud that you are working hard and in the fight!
@@maxel-hag4389 I totally agree with you and even if it's frustrating we keep showing up and hopefully some improvements will be seen down the road. A coach told me to do the QF to have a better picture of my current fitness level but i am not so sure it will be a good picture either haha. We'll see i guess.. Could be a good subject for a next podcast. Have a good day!

EEE suggestion: Effort-Execution-Evolve
Evolve is a verb, the others are nouns. What about:
Effort-Execution-Evolution
