I'm glad to see you mention what so many others have overlooked about Farsight Ritual compared to Memory Deluge...Deluge is only better if you're reliably planning on making 8, 9, 10+ land drops per game. Otherwise Farsight Ritual offers you waaaay more power up front, which is kinda cool that we'll have both in standard at the same time, because they look similar, but are vastly different in practice.
About Asinine Antics: the role tokens are created under your control, so the opponent can't sacrifice them for value. I mostly agree that it's pretty shit because the go wide decks don't care that much, but if there were some way to heavily capitalize on the role ETBs it could actually be pretty cool, but I think it's unlikely to happen. Hopefully I'm wrong and I'll make an ass of myself.
Bitterblossom was played in a lot outside of faeries back when it was in standard. B/W tokens loved the card, even the B/G elves/midrange decks of the era played it.
something notable that makes asinine antics useless in constructed is that it doesnt even remove the creature's abilities. sheoldred will still drain you every turn, she just cant swing for 4 anymore.
I think in a flash fairy deck, if you already have more mana on deck, you play Sleep Cursed fairy and pass with 4ish mana up. You have some instances or flashes in your hand you can play, or you can pump SCF. It adds to the tension of what a pass and play fairy deck may do.
Sleep Cursed Farie seems like the very definition of, "don't play bad cards to make your good cards better". Yes, the faerie package cards are fantastic, I still don't want to discard a card and place a brick on the table to power them up.
Mostly agree, if you want to enable those you can just play normal 1 mana 1/1 flyer faeries, they might not have ward but they also can attack and block inmediately Still not sure if they juice is worth the squeeze for the tribe, seems a little short in actual good faeries, for example the 3 drop is really bad
Guessing Sleep Cursed Faerie is the sleeper, I like this card I think it's similar to Evolved Sleeper in that it's a one drop that can use the mana you leave up for interaction if your oponent doesn't do anything worth interacting. Also both have "Sleep" in their names.
I paused. I'm thinking trap. I know it gets your synergy pieces online, but it can easily be dealt with before it ever deals a point of damage. I'm looking games it'll only ever be okay.
Regarding Sleep-Cursed Fairie: You said on stats only it's a 3/3 for 3, but it's a 3/3 for 9, since you have to untap it 4 times if you want it to come in untapped.
It makes me pretty sad that 5-10 years ago I would have killed for an instant speed Divination in Standard and now I'm like "Meh, maybe I can play it in Pauper"
You're going to eat those words. 😂 I don't know what format you mainly play but there are dozens of cards that are strong enough to be modern playable.
New category: Against the odds/Saffron Olive Card
Wow I totally missed Picklock Prankster. But that is a serious card for delve / graveyard decks.
I love his energy. And his comments.
Jim has never missed on his Sleeper picks
I believe in the quick study dream. As a fellow old man I remember grinding down opponents with hand advantage off the back of divination.
As an older man gamer I remember playing actual Inspiration in Mirrodin Standard
I started on Kamigawa and loved to play Council of the Soratami when beginning to play blue

Ah so many fun new toys to play with

... this channel will be perfect if Magic ever does a Garfield set.
I was saying the sleep cursed is a trap. It sounds pretty rough. But, I guess it compares favorably even with Delver in a lot of decks.
Jim u r awesome. Thank you
I'm as excited as you are for Quick Study

Water Wings is pretty interesting... the P/T is decently sized to trade for a lot of the bigger threats. But it'll still be a 2 for 1.
You already used the "Trap" for Asinine Antics, so that's an easy answer :D
Asinine Antics doesn't even kill Shelly. The creature doesn't lose its abilities or any counters that it had on it.

thank god somebody mentions how good that 1 mana blue faerie is, was worried it would go under the radar.
That loch whale is going right into rhinos
I hope to see someone casts farsight ritual and sacrifices a phyrexian arena they no longer need to go digging 8 cards deep. Looks like a fun play.
Jim you da man!
Jim is the best
Quick Study reminds me of Esper Charm, which we've had since 2008. I'm surprised it took them so long to print a mono blue 3 mana draw 2.

Guess who is gonna binge these all ✌️
Sleep-cursed fae, best in show. Let's see what you think!
Best in show!
Like this set
I want to believe that sleep cursed faerie is really good.
Why isn't Sleep Cursed Faerie the Sleeper pick. You had one job Jim!
I paused. I'm thinking trap. I know it gets your synergy pieces online, but it can easily be dealt with before it ever deals a point of damage. I'm looking games it'll only ever be okay.
I think sleep cursed faerie is best in show
Edit: nailed it!
You had already shown the trap before sleep cursed faerie lol

well, regular untapping also works, but yeah, if you want it to block inmediately you have to pay 9
Not that this is a viable strategy in constructed but with all of the stun counter stuff I think the proliferate cards works well with them.
Alright I guessed wrong on sleepy fairie. But I'm a commander player, what the hell do I know
It makes me pretty sad that 5-10 years ago I would have killed for an instant speed Divination in Standard and now I'm like "Meh, maybe I can play it in Pauper"
I miss siren stormtamer
Sleep cursed fae: best in show? Ward 2 is really good on a one drop
LETS GOOOO
sleep faerie has to be the trap card, unless there is big synergy i’m missing it just doesn’t DO anything
Don't have to cheat knowing sleep-cursed faerie isn't the trap card, the trap card already appeared earlier.
Pour one out for icy manipulator.
I think it will underperform and perhaps should have been the trap card... but I've been wrong before, I'll be wrong again
Blue.
"Draft chaff" rhymes. It's not "chafe".
Mhtirogla
This set is the textbook definition of meh. I couldn’t point to even one card that would stand out and become a staple…
Seeing as Eldraine shattered the entire game last time around, I'm sure this is intentional.
