How To Bring An Edge Back To Life

  • In todays episode I show you how you can take a razor thats tugging and bring it back to life using paste on a strop. I go to the extreme and kill the edge on the stone, creating damage on the apex that no whisker no matter how thick can create, in other words if it worked in this example it will work for a razor that is tugging slightly. I find it important to mention that this will eventually round the edge and the razor will need another method to bring it back to life. We will discuss the touch up in another video but for now I hope you enjoy! I always read and reply to all of your comments so make sure you leave one in the comment section below.

Dude thank you so much for making this video. I do believe I want to get a cheap canvas strop before I use the paste. I paid a pretty penny for the one I use daily.

@@Bamaboyshaving I did that exact same thing… the strop you see in the video is like a 5 dollar strop from Amazon. My good strop I leave it clean! Hope this helped, in the video I did an extreme thing by dulling it so imagine how it will work if the razor is already somewhat keen. Happy Sunday my friend!

Spot on info Sean 👌 and most pastes last a very long time so inexpensive. Ti white paste is relatively course and not to greasy, crox green paste is probably the most universally used as a touch up refresh , red oxide doesn't seem to do much and is really greasy. ....what a nice doggy 🐕 😊.

@@Martins-Shaves123 He is the goodest boy Martin, he’s my best friend! Yes, paste is so cheap and after 2 or 3 shaves the edge gets milder in my opinion.

Touched up my goto razor yesterday ca 200 laps on a flat Dan's black ark, nice edge, but to crisp for my liking, next shave is likely better (usually 2nd to 3rd is my preferred optimum). Normal refresh is done on a pair of homemade flat padlestrops made from oak and veg tanned leather front Tärnsjö tannery with .5 and .25 micron diamond paste.
When I will get my Jarrod-plate post vacation, I will create a new convex pair with the same paste. Great video.
    Regards Johan.

@@dnamol Thank you Johan, you’re right sometimes the edge fresh from the stone can feel too crisp but usually gets better after the 2nd or 3rd shave. You will have fun with the plate for sure! Happy Sunday my friend
