  • Osmolarity is the number of dissociation particles in one liter solution. It is defined as Osmoles/ one liter or mOsmol/ liter. It is very important to calculate the number of particles per substance in a given question. Also, another important part when solving such questions is to differentiate if the question is asking for Osmolarity or Milliosmoles.

    For solutions with multiple components, to get the total osmorality , do we add the osmolarities of all of them components after calculating them separately?
