Sound and image quality is noticeably better. Frame is a bit closer to your face, but you often use hand gestures to illustrate symbolic concepts, your hands are sometimes slightly below shot. Play around with the video contrast so you stand out from the background.
The background is fine in other videos where the room's lighting is less intense. The computer screen illuminates your face, try reducing the room's lighting by, for example, adjusting window blinds. Check what other people say, this may just be my personal preference, when everything is bright it comes across as a model-shoot style artificial scene.
The sound is not bad. Of course, I won't mind you investing in a professional microphone. The background is ok. Maybe some of your art would fit nicely.
MINDBLOWN 🤯 (as always) This made me think of how in Genesis God hovered over the water, called forth life, and He said it was good. I see a connection to when Jesus was baptized, The Spirit hovered over the water, The Father spoke over Jesus “this is my beloved son, in whom I’m well pleased” and new life emerged from the waters. It’s the NEW creation story! Christ is the second Adam!

You’re a gift, man. 50 years ago we would’ve had to somehow stumble upon a book to get just one or two of these videos worth of content. 1,000 years ago we would’ve had to have known you. This is the kind of thing that I’m grateful for the internet because of. God bless you

Symbolic understanding is most important as we move ever closer to the consummation of all in God's plan. This teaching should be required for all young adults prior to Confirmation. Without it we are less capable of participating in the life of the Spirit. Why it took 64 years for me to see it is a great mystery. Thank you most profoundly Jonathan!
Symbolism is the strangest thing, especially when you have dreams that match. I had a dream, years ago. where I was floating above the ocean which was very turbulent and choppy with fierce winds and dark gray clouds above. I knew in this moment, that this ocean held within it a thousand different paths or currents within. The ocean was symbolic of life. the thousand different currents were different paths in life which you could take and this distinctive impression within me, spoke to me, that it's okay you don't know all of what's going on, because I saw these currents as chaotic. These currents are meant to drown you, to toss you around, push and pull beneath the waters of the ocean. It was okay not to take any of these paths and I felt within me, a letting go of the world, and I saw myself floating above the ocean and a beam of light shined through the dark gray clouds lifting me up until I disappeared into the light. I'm so fascinating with stories and their hidden meanings an the symbols. I think if anyone should learn something about symbols, is they seem to be a major part of contrasting ideas like a shovel and dirt.
Thank you Jonathan. Yesterday I made a comment on one of your other videos that you should do your own "Biblical Series" and today I get some of that. How amazing.
This could be a great video series. Jonathan chooses a symbol, theme, or motif (like heaven/earth duality, glory as fire, whatever) and gives an narrative on the idea as it lays itself out in the Biblical stories. Like walking through the same museum building repeatedly and seeing the displays in new ways each time.
HadesXY Well, I hope you don't read anything greater in your symbolic associations with Jordan's name other than a simple word game. Let me put it in symbolic terms: a spirit untethered from reality may fly with it into the heavens and may see an angel, not just Jordan Peterson. One has be careful of how far these symbolic associations can go. They can be extremely dangerous if one manipulates symbols haphazardly.
0:45 seconds in and you've already explained 85% of the criticism received by Jordan Peterson (excluding smears and labels, which don't even count). I could never understand why people can't see this, but I could never articulate a coherent explanation of what they're missing. This is brilliant - but that's why I come to this channel!
Loved this video. I was raised Pentecostal fundamentalist evangelical in TX. I’ve been fostering the life of the Christian mind since graduating college 10-11 years ago. I’ve found many people who’ve contributed to my journey but you and JBP have opened so many new doors for exploration and deepening my experience with the divine it’s hard to keep up! Need that reading list! This video was a wonderful example of applying the symbolical in action which I desperately needed and keeps me fascinated with Orthodoxy. I’m joining a bible study with some brothers full of Catholics, Orthodox and Eastern Rite Catholics who are happy to have me. I’m quite excited. I continue to struggle with how to meld the symbolical to the literal/historical I was raised with. You’re a blessing and please keep up your work. God bless!
I have been on a very similar journey, Mitch. It's cool to hear that others are experiencing the same. Keep your hand on the plow, forging ahead through the unknown territory. I think there's some big discoveries ahead of us.
All the best on your journey, Mitch. Start with Gregory of Nyssa - Life of Moses (and watch my video about it), read St-Ephrem's Hymns of Paradise. For visual symbolism read Ouspensky and Lossky's The Meaning of Icons. That will start you out right. For a more comprehensive reading list, I will get it together once I get time and energy to redo my website.
Jonathan Pageau thanks so much. Just bought all 3 on Amazon and will start diving into them in that order. By the way I also love the movie reviews, I love cinema and I find it constant practice to examine the symbolism being used. Your work is important, I will also support you as I can on Patreon.
An excellent job of pulling all of these things together, Jonathan. On a psychological level (Jungian), one might also explore those Leviathan-like urges and appetites that lurk in the deep murky waters of the unconscious. The light of Christ, the Divine Logos, enters those waters to help us become aware of those things we were once unaware of. Then, with His help, we can begin to address those chaotic elements and develop some more habitable order, both personally and societally.
I tried to mention it a bit when I discuss Christ pulling St-Peter out of the water. It is true that I have been focusing on the more cosmic level of the stories, but it might be a good idea to go towards the level of personal transformation. For sure the Fathers tend to go in that direction all the time.
I loved your connection between St. Peter and Jonah sinking into the weeds. I had never put those two together like that before. After many years of protestantism, I became a Catholic in 2000, so I'm more familiar with those Saints. But I've been increasingly interested in the Eastern Fathers. I certainly feel like I have much to learn from you, and you seem well supported by that tradition. Subbing.
Hi Mr.Pageau, thanks for the enlightening videos. It is amazing to see how many of the concepts you discuss here have analogues in chinese cosmology, especially Daoism which similarly conceptualizes the cosmic process as being derived from chaotically mixed water giving rise to a separation of heaven and earth and all being. Of particular note is the first story in the Zhuangzi which discusses a northern ocean of.chaos in which a fish (lower order, or we can say original essence and potential) which transforms into a great bird that flies to a southern ocean (representing a different pole of chaos). This analogue between the judeo creation myth and that of china, in which chaos is made into poles and then further divided into things which can be experienced by sentient life has struck me for a long time as a profound and mysterious connection. Anyway, your insightful videos are wonderful and I hope you will keep going, because this symbolism can be if great help to many of us who are.trying to find meaning :)
Have you read 'Christ the Eternal Tao' by Hieromonk Damascene? It's a fascinating book, based largely on the work of his mentor, Fr. Seraphim Rose, who studied Taoism and Confucianism at university under a Chinese teacher before becoming Orthodox.
Someone told me you were stepping back from making videos after getting backlash from your speech alongside Jordan. Just wanted to let you know that I am an atheist who is absolutely fascinated by your videos on symbolism. I’m currently reading the Bible from cover to cover and it wouldn’t make a blind bit of sense if I didn’t follow you and Dr. Peterson. Please keep making videos!
Don't worry, I am not going anywhere. The only thing the backlash caused was to for me to prevent people from posting on my facebook wall. I said I was going to do less public speaking for a few months so that I could catch up on my carving commissions. But I will continue to make videos, hopefully one every two weeks.
Great to see you getting some joy from your creations. Your content is filling in the blanks for me in the area of interpreting symbolism. As that comes together it creates a beautiful whole. I look forward to each illuminating episode.
Great video, I am myself a Russian Orthodox, and I'm glad to see that even in the West the idea of spiritualization of life is kind of being reborn now, and the Bible starts to make sense again from psychological point of view because this book fits with the role of a psychological textbook much better than with the role of a biological or astronomical textbook, and I wonder why it hasn't been obvious in the west for such a long time, at least for the last 300-400 years. Great job, I will watch more of your videos!
Thank you for providing an introductory explanation to symbolism Jonathan, this helps me understand what is being written more clearly, there is more to learn but a great introduction.
I can't help but thinking that all religious symbols and rituals are enigmatic clues to inner psychological processes (if interpreted correctly, I suppose); clues which continually beckon us to enter within. I was thinking, for example, of many constellated associations simultaneously related to baptism. Firstly, that the idea of a physical submersion in water, although recalling a state of peril and a reminder of death and chaos, does little to change the inner being of a person. I recall thinking in my younger years that it was absurd that so much pomp and circumstance was placed around, what seemed to me, a bath. Physically something was taking place, but what mystery was happening within? In fact, was any change occurring within at all? I'm having trouble relating all of the associations in my mind at this point, but vaguely, I have this idea of meditation as an internal baptism. In many ways, meditation 'submerges' us in the mind, and is often felt as an approach of chaos. In fact, one of the many goals of deep meditation is a sort of egoic death, where one's identity is essentially dissolved, or perhaps more appropriately 'swallowed up'. Further, one often utilizes the breath (or spirit) as a bridge between these altered states of consciousness, being as the breath is the only function of our physical process that operates under conscious intention (the ability to hold the breath for example, or consciously direct it) and unconsciously (as when we are asleep or cognitively attending to other tasks, it operates automatically). It is rooted in the body (Earth) and follows orders of the Mind (Heaven) To follow the breath with conscious attention is something akin to the Mind (Attention, Order, The Father) descending into the Waters (Chaos, Disorder, Death, Potential). What might it mean, then, to say that Jesus died and resurrected, if, by our reason, we find the idea of physical death and resurrection to be absurd and unreasonable? To die of ones SELF,be dissolved and submerged into all of creation, and rise out transformed, renewed, and cleansed seems to me far more possible, and perhaps far more meaningful. It means that there is an immediacy to scripture, and work to be done, I suppose. Further, I keep thinking of Mary, the Virgin Mary, the Virgin Water, that which brought Christ into the World. In Water's relationship to the mind, does an unadulterated and pure, and perfected mind give rise (or conceive, or give birth, perhaps) to a consciousness quite like Christ? What is Christ anyway? It's not like his last name, right? Okay, now I'm rambling, but I wonder if you can catch my trajectory. Luke 17:20-21 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
I first opened to experience of 'drowning' from the world of the known to an incapacity to integrate or articulate in the 'world' to which I was returned to as a broken yet opened capacity to recognise truth as the embodying Spirit - but through a glass darkly and as a process of reintegration from a revealed foundation. So when at some point i found works by others of similar experience and grew and articulation, I came in through the back door - for I had no religious upbringing and little cultural education. However many decades later the re-embrace of the Embodiment or Creation, led me to awareness of new science and perspectives that can be called plasma cosmology or electric universe - with a corresponding cosmic history that gave us our archetypal structure - of a broken Constellation, and a sense of self set in lack, in conflict and under fear of pain of loss. I don't know if you have interest in this - but one man's attempt to sketch out his sense of a collective ongoing movement to uncover a catastrophic past that was not 'millions of years' ago under a Great Unconsciousness or masking amnesia - is saturniancosmology.org - who deviated from some of the assumptions of A post-Velikovsky movement partly sparked by the extremity of Velikovksy's expulsion from scientific acceptability by 'show trial'. Perrat's work in high energy plasma physics uncovered matching patterns of toroidal forms that correspond with some of the most ancient petroglyphs all around the world. Apart from re-evaluation our past - the shock of which IS the masked over consciousness of a fundamental Self-evasion or split mind - the observations of the electro-magnectic phenomena of 'plasma' at all scale of the Universe are revealing a patterning of self-organising energy and structure that is within all things and is all things - as one with the Communication of Consciousness. I may add that the original image and symbol was one with that which gave it form, and yet the residual derivatives of such symbol became our self-referencing system of consciousness that lost its direct experience to phenomena (the gods (Planets) departed) and a more stable experience of world and consciousness became the development of thought from which also rises 'pattern recognition' not merely in the world but in the underlying patterning that our consciousness is, and which can flip to know the movement of its own being as 'All of this' instead of as a foreign place or 'strange world' of threat and deceit. The symbols point directly to truth - unless we take an image in place of Reality and worship it as the Thing Itself. Then they become opaque and separate as a realm of Powers, rather than the power of Creation through all. I thought to have a go at sketching something in case you or other find resonance (another electrical frequency term) and synchronicity (communication of being as one). Heaven and earth revealed as not separate states is a releasing of the lockdown and masking in the distancing from the Universal as a physically defined sense of 'separation trauma' within the desire to open experience of all that Is - by apparent differentiations given identification.
Next time you have a chat video with Dr. P. you should plug your UA-cam page. I luckily stumbled across it, but feel like your sub count should be way higher.
I can listen when a person sounds calm. Matt ,from quantum of conciuouness is easy to hear and makes sense most times. Not all. Take your time...100s years in the telling,we can wait for sure x
Thank you so much. Im so into symbolism now. Im looking for more about this all the time. I am memorizing icons, they stick in my mind. Scripts not so much. I have been painting and drawing since I was 4 years old, and ive been playing guitars and string instruments since i was a kid. This i really helpful to me. Icons and symbols rules!
I wonder if this is the same “scarlet thread” as in Song of Songs? The thread that weaves all of creation together. The “scarlet” representing the Blood of Jesus Christ, and “thread”, representing the work of the Holy Spirit. As soon as I heard you speak, it’s what I saw. Cool!
I subbed and shared this to my fb with my personal statement about how I already loved what you were saying within a couple minutes. Stay on track so i can leave my post up haha. Thanks for sharing this!!! Because I try to explain it and just piss people off...
I would LOVE (and would support you on patreon) if you would start a series on the symbolical meanings of the evens inside of REVELATION. Considering John was quite prominent in his symbolical thinking in regards to the gospel and the thematic tie-ins to WATER throughout, I'd love to hear what it is that the symbols he saw would've meant for him.
I was wishing Jonathan would have tied this into Revelation as well. I have long thought that the seven headed dragon is a symbol of the seven deadly sins which lurk in the depths of the Collective Unconscious. Whenever that Leviathan (hiding in the darkest fantasies of mankind) gets its claws up on the sands of the seashore, look out! The fantasy can manifest a horrifically dark reality. Think Nero, Hitler, Stalin, Mao Tse-tung, etc... In other words, all hell breaks out on earth. What will eventually slay the monster? The Divine Logos, with His sharp two-edged sword proceeding from His mouth.
Revelations is the most difficult book in the Bible. There are many things in that book that I do not understand. I figure if we get through the milk and the meat, at some point we will be ready for the wine.
Great video! You should have more subscribers! One thing that I would have liked is if you could include links, or just references for the images you put in the videos.
"the foreigner is a sign of death...and image of chaos and resurrection.." does this then mean that the amount of foreigners moving throughout the world is a warning sign of imminent chaos and major change equivalent to death? That's how I'm taking it, which is a fascinating point.
Is there anything like a symbolism Alphabet?? I feel like a ancient symbol dictionary would go along way to understanding this language. I love hearing all of your wisdom
Maybe a bit off topic, but I've heard the idea that on day 4 God didn't create the sun, but rather He revealed it for the first time from earth's surface by changing the atmosphere from translucent to transparent. Similarly, on day 1 He didn't create the light, but rather changed the atmosphere from not allowing any light in to becoming translucent.
I would love to see a video which describes the symbology of the twelve disciples of jesus. Are the representative of different aspects of ourselves, or of society, or both? What do they each symbolize?
This channel you have here is one og the bests that I follow. Keep the good work ! If possible, someday, make an analysis of the movie Total Recall (the original one, with Schwarzennegger).
I'm glad you're getting into this more and more. I saw you on Benjamin Boyce's channel the other day. That was a great talk. I was wondering if you had any plans on getting into the prophecies in the Bible? I fear, with all the talk about symbolism and psychology, that this very important aspect of the Bible is getting lost.
Hi Jonathan, thank you for another excellent video.I'm looking forward to showing your videos to my dad and some friends too. You are truly breathing life into the faith. I wanted to ask you how can one impart this rich understanding of Christianity and the Bible to children? I am wondering how can we speak to children about God and faith without only discussing it from a materialistic dogmatic approach?I also was curious how you interact with fellow parishioners in your church community who approach Christianity with material-literal belief?
Chuck Norris once round house kicked Brett Weinstein. As he half consciously looked into Chuck's eyes he saw the face of Jonathan Pageau and instantly understood the religious significance of the term, "knock your lights out." Please forgive me for that joke.
Hi Jonathan - I just discovered your channel. You show the most amazing artwork during your talks. Is there anywhere I can see these online? Or do you have a book where you show the picture and then write about it? I like listen to you but I’d love to hold what you say in my hands so I can study it.
I have been unable to rightly understand what Jonathan was talking about until I studied Heidegger. This is really the place where grammar fails. It is such a different perspective.
I appreciate this video. I am going to pass it on to my catechumans and my priest. I have tried to teach these basic building blocks to the Church's interpretations, and you did this better in a few minutes than I have been able to.
Happy it is helpful. I will probably be doing more of these threads, the tree is next, but I will probably also do the cave, feet, the snake, the garments of skin, etc.
Good. I will likely pass it on. It is always fun to see when people see systemic symbolism in the Scripture (or other works). That is, perhaps, the thing most lacking in our culture: we cannot see anything beyond the obvious. If it cannot be quantified quickly, and easily, we lose it, and in so doing we lose ourselves.
This video had me smiling and nodding the whole time. So much of what you say confirms what I've suspected for a long time but couldn't articulate. It's helped me reread the Bible with fresh eyes. I was wondering if you could explain what Gnosticism gets wrong in terms of the Bible. Does Gnosticism somehow misrepresent Logos due to its misunderstanding of the symbols or were the Gnostics just deliberately corrupt?
As an Orthodox traditional Christian do you believe the holy fathers tradition about the young earth creation. That the geological discoveries seems so old because of the falling of our tow forefathers and the cosmos universe falling with them?☘️☦️🕯
This was great. A few things: (1) You should get your hands on the Irish film "Calvary." (2) As far as I know, the Orthodox Church regards the original primordial waters as "nothingness" or "void," which is related to but somewhat different from "chaos." Do you believe creation "ex nihilo" is integral to these threads, or kind of irrelevant? (3) Is "hovering over the waters" also a metaphor for "reflection," in which the divine is envisioned "brooding" in a sort of artistic, pre-creative self-contemplation (I think "brooding" is an alternate translation of the Hebrew for "hovering")?
The Tree (of Knowledge of Good and Evil) "all are Alphias, Abyrus, and the Gericus; and because of these the sea does not sink. And I said, I pray thee show me which is the tree which led Adam astray. And the angel said to me, It is the vine, which the angel Sammael planted, whereat the Lord God was angry, and He cursed him and his plant, while also on this account He did not permit Adam to touch it, and therefore" - 3 Baruch 4:8 Interpretation: The fruit of the garden of Eden was the vine (grapes) of wine planted by Satan.
Jonathan, I tried to superchat JBP in his last Q&A to no avail... I figured you would have a better answer anyway, "What do you think the purpose of prayer is and it's affect on the individual as well as society?"
We can be moved to open a dialogue with what is, in which what seems to be, is released of its priority in our own mind - which is always in communication with all minds - for all minds are expressions of One - even if the original spark is covered with layers of mis-taken identity and defences against exposure. As you could not be but for that which moves you, the idea of a self-willed autonomous entity is an attempt to become what you already are - but in your own right. Though the Prodigal may set out in a dream, he will drown in the nightmare of his own making and call to the Father of a Living Inheritance - even though no longer judging himself worthy - but willing to serve truth - instead of presuming to take it for vanity. The Father 'comes rushing to meet' because He was never in truth absent. All expressions of God are one in the Holy Spirit. And so the Holy Instant is the call and response of blessing that releases a false sense of self-judging reality, to a more truly aligned appreciation of what is - as it truly is - and this is to our willingness to give and receive. So while we can extend a blessing on place of grievance, fear or worry, the freedom of another is theirs as to whether to receive it now or later. But in extending the gift you strengthen what you share. But to be transparent to the movement of true desire, is to release the false - and the attempt to 'pray' as leverage or as if to add virtue or worth to a sense of lack, is to mask in virtue and seek only reinforcement of a sense of lack in hiding. "And WHO told you you were naked, said the Lord? ;-) I offer for your reflection. If you open the receptive and wait on the Spirit to move on the face of the waters - a moment will rise whole of itself - before you have made it in your old image. Those who accept love are those who are willing to share it. No other condition can place a limit on love and yet the condition is not out there but a lack of willingness, from its giving to a mistaken sense of power and protection
Is there a reason that the theme of water and the flood is repeated over and over? Is it just to show unity by binding the stories in the bible together? Is it that we constantly need reminding of these themes? Or is it for the sake of progression of mankind as we strives to reach the ideal of God? For surely the constant updating has a goal of some kind?
Don't know if you kept following the channel, but it depends. Do you define historicity as alignment with the physics of the progression of time and movement of matter? Then he'd probably range from no to I don't know and add that it's pretty much irrelevant. Think he addressed this in his February or March q&a
Brilliant presentation... just wondering however, in 12:43 described in the catecombs (c300ad) a depiction of the story of Jonah and the whale. Perhaps may referace the story of Jason and the triumph from the basilisk (c800bc). A well known symbol adopted from the Greeks into early Christian Iconography. (note the 'whale' has a curled tail which represents time - see also Abraxas later adaptation into Knostic.) There is also a smililar story from early Sumeria (c2500bc) with the hero Gilgamesh. I'm not saying that your interpretation is incorrect, I'm just pointing out that these concepts do not originate in the Bible, but the OT Bible carries on an earlier tradition where the NT begins a new tradition. I just think it is unfair to not point out the earlier concepts from the ancient civilizations that gave them to mankind in the the first place - does not 'originate' with the Hebrews.
Oh, and I'd also love a break down of phonemes. All words with "gl" in them have to do with light passing through an interface. Glacier, glass, glare, glisten. L always means light, lightness, elevation, elect etc. G has to do with grip, grab R has to do with run a along a line. A rim, rip, ran m is both water, and repeating waves, a cycle that regenerates K/C/X is the external action. Outside of the circle. going out/kathode P is specificity. A person. part, place, point N is a network, connection, nativity/nation B is birth, beginning V is splitting up, viral, vital, a branching tree. The vowels seem to have more spacial/time dimension aspects to it. etc etc. I read a book that handles the gl part, and the rest you can figure out on your own.
That born again baptism is the mystery of all the ages, the opportunity to be made new again. But I don’t think the stone refers to a single church. Paul writes Christ is the stone. If he is in us, then we are the church.
Trying to get a better image and clean up the sound quality. Tell me what you think.
Sound and image quality is noticeably better. Frame is a bit closer to your face, but you often use hand gestures to illustrate symbolic concepts, your hands are sometimes slightly below shot. Play around with the video contrast so you stand out from the background.
Maybe a dark background or something?
I think your a boss
The background is fine in other videos where the room's lighting is less intense. The computer screen illuminates your face, try reducing the room's lighting by, for example, adjusting window blinds.
Check what other people say, this may just be my personal preference, when everything is bright it comes across as a model-shoot style artificial scene.
The sound is not bad. Of course, I won't mind you investing in a professional microphone. The background is ok. Maybe some of your art would fit nicely.

Wow!!!!!!!
And the blessed Virgin Mary is the new Eve!
You’re a gift, man. 50 years ago we would’ve had to somehow stumble upon a book to get just one or two of these videos worth of content. 1,000 years ago we would’ve had to have known you. This is the kind of thing that I’m grateful for the internet because of. God bless you
For anyone who is confused, the "Prophet Jeremy" Pageau referred to is Jeremiah in English Bibles. Don't hold it against Pageau, He's French...
Yeah, thanks for the mercy. I am getting there. I also use to pronounce hierarchy in french until people called me on it.
I just saw some chaos to call into order...
Help!! need a clear cut on how to identify patterns of symbolism....10 years of searching brought me here...
Like St. Pete said, mimicking St. Johnny, you shouldn't mess with the names of the prophets! :D

Thank you so much. Your videos really help me root my Christianity in the tradition.
It feels like nothing is more important than learning this
Absolutely mindblowing content!!! Thank you!!
Such a beautiful explanation. Well done. You are very gifted. God bless you!
Being mentioned in the video. What a pride I feel
Jordan Peterson....Jordan...Peter...Son....My head
...Peter son of Jonah (Mt. 16:17) probably baptized in the Jordan river. Get your head around that.
So he is indeed a living meme
I see Peterson as a John the Baptist figure.
My friend does too. I'm hesitant to say that, yet he is leaving in his wake people turning to the savior.
HadesXY
Well, I hope you don't read anything greater in your symbolic associations with Jordan's name other than a simple word game.
Welcome home, Brother. Follow the Way of the Truth and you will have Life.
I've found it much easier to not try to follow Mr Pageau's logic, but just to give in to the poetry unfolding. Worth it every time.
I never understood the symbolism of baptism until now... very good, thanks
Subbing.
“Thread”is exactly what the Bible is....Your videos are special Thank you for your work!
This is amazing! Thank you. My eyes have been opened, but I'm afraid they'll close again soon.
Your work is awesome! Please never quit!
This guy is amazing... praise GOD
Gladly binge-watching Jonathan pageau for a month now. hard to get enough of this stuff
Great to see you getting some joy from your creations. Your content is filling in the blanks for me in the area of interpreting symbolism. As that comes together it creates a beautiful whole. I look forward to each illuminating episode.
Beautiful as always, thank you!
Orthodoxy is universal, and has been growing a lot in North America over the last one hundred years.
MY GOODNESS! Jonathan, what are you doing to me? This. Is. Brilliant.
Wow, the depth of symbolism is so satisfying 🤯🥹
The content in this video is exciting. Patreon money well spent. More like this please!
This is beautiful. Thanks so much.
Thank you for providing an introductory explanation to symbolism Jonathan, this helps me understand what is being written more clearly, there is more to learn but a great introduction.
Jonathan, these are extremely helpful observations. I love your videos.
I love this
I can't help but thinking that all religious symbols and rituals are enigmatic clues to inner psychological processes (if interpreted correctly, I suppose); clues which continually beckon us to enter within.
Luke 17:20-21
And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Totally entranced with this video. One of your best yet. Articulated in a simpler form that really sunk in!
I luckily stumbled across it, but feel like your sub count should be way higher.
true story
i can't listen to Peterson before bed, he's too intense and dynamic with his volume
but Jonathan hits the spot with bedtime philosophy!
Definately agree
Thank you. Thank God
I can listen when a person sounds calm. Matt ,from quantum of conciuouness is easy to hear and makes sense most times. Not all. Take your time...100s years in the telling,we can wait for sure x
Your videos are awesome! I have to whatch only one per day to be able to think about and fully absorb the content.
i loved this. can't wait for more
Wow what a video this is, full of insight and knowledge but also very comprehensive
This one is amazing
I would love to hear your thoughts on C.S. Lewis's work, specifically the space trilogy. If you haven't read it I would highly recommend it.
This is some crisp shit. Lovin dat production-value!
You know it's about to go down when those horns play
This is great, would make for a nice series. :)
Thanks to that guy for saving comments!
Awesome. Thanks 🙏🏾
The first 1 second is the best.
Thank you. So much help.
Interesting perspective
Dude you get it, you get it!!!
Hi jonathan. Keep up the good work . When will matthieu's book be available ?? . Love the intensity in which yous guys engage with biblical stories.
I've always been horrified and arrested by big bodies of water. The back of something gigantic emerging, a beast. It's immense darkness.
Love ur video, from Ethiopia
I've never been called the anchor of creation I'm flattered :3
This channel you have here is one og the bests that I follow. Keep the good work !
If possible, someday, make an analysis of the movie Total Recall (the original one, with Schwarzennegger).
I'm glad you're getting into this more and more. I saw you on Benjamin Boyce's channel the other day. That was a great talk. I was wondering if you had any plans on getting into the prophecies in the Bible? I fear, with all the talk about symbolism and psychology, that this very important aspect of the Bible is getting lost.
I am sure I will touch on prophetic visions at some point, as they are very densely symbolic.
Love your video. Please elaborate on concept of the foreigner.
Why does Johnathan look like Chuck Norris?
Best compliment ever.
Why does Chuck look like Jonathan?
God said "Let there be light" Jonathan answered "Say please"
I just realized that he is in some kind a light bringer for me...my head, help
Come to think of it, have you ever seen the two of them in the same place at the same time? Gasp!
Chuck Norris once round house kicked Brett Weinstein. As he half consciously looked into Chuck's eyes he saw the face of Jonathan Pageau and instantly understood the religious significance of the term, "knock your lights out."
Please forgive me for that joke.
Haha, 16:30 I had no idea you were so close with Jeremiah that you call him by his nickname.
comments resurrected! you'd be surprised how often "that which is lost" makes it way back to you when you attempt to live a good life
Hi Jonathan - I just discovered your channel.
Great presentation! Can you do symbolism in the Kraken (or sea monsters)? Thank you for every UA-cam video you have created!
I might do something on Jonah more specifically and then I can possibly discuss the Leviathan and the Sea Monster in general
The main error of Gnosticism is to see the world as corrupt, the creator as evil and so there is no incarnation as there is in Christianity.
Thanks so much for the reply. Now I have a better understanding with which to go forward in my studies.
As an Orthodox traditional Christian do you believe the holy fathers tradition about the young earth creation. That the geological discoveries seems so old because of the falling of our tow forefathers and the cosmos universe falling with them?☘️☦️🕯
This was great. A few things:
(1) You should get your hands on the Irish film "Calvary."
(2) As far as I know, the Orthodox Church regards the original primordial waters as "nothingness" or "void," which is related to but somewhat different from "chaos." Do you believe creation "ex nihilo" is integral to these threads, or kind of irrelevant?
(3) Is "hovering over the waters" also a metaphor for "reflection," in which the divine is envisioned "brooding" in a sort of artistic, pre-creative self-contemplation (I think "brooding" is an alternate translation of the Hebrew for "hovering")?
The Tree (of Knowledge of Good and Evil)
"all are Alphias, Abyrus, and the Gericus; and because of these the sea does not sink. And I said, I pray thee show me which is the tree which led Adam astray. And the angel said to me, It is the vine, which the angel Sammael planted, whereat the Lord God was angry, and He cursed him and his plant, while also on this account He did not permit Adam to touch it, and therefore" - 3 Baruch 4:8
Interpretation: The fruit of the garden of Eden was the vine (grapes) of wine planted by Satan.
Hey Jonathan. Greetings from Germany. Do you have any inspiring musical suggestions? (I mean mostly classical music)
Olivier Messiaen!
"And WHO told you you were naked, said the Lord?
;-)
I offer for your reflection.
The mouth of death makes me think of the expression “out of the jaws of death”.
Hello sir...can you suggest some of the books to get better understanding of Biblical symbolism
It was very helpful. Did he do a video on going into Egypt?
What is your view of the historicity of Genesis, particularly the first 11 chapters?
Don't know if you kept following the channel, but it depends. Do you define historicity as alignment with the physics of the progression of time and movement of matter? Then he'd probably range from no to I don't know and add that it's pretty much irrelevant. Think he addressed this in his February or March q&a
Reminds me of the homilies of Origen!
This all fits perfectly with Flat Earth. Yeah, I know. I thought it was crazy too. But I'm being serious.
I still can’t tell if Pageau believes that people who know Christ will actually be with Him one day after they die
Why are the little sparks of life hidden in chaos?
Interesting ❤
A video on Marshall Mcluhan sometime? Also check out "On the Origin of Circuits". Its an article.
Oh, and I'd also love a break down of phonemes. All words with "gl" in them have to do with light passing through an interface. Glacier, glass, glare, glisten.
L always means light, lightness, elevation, elect etc.
G has to do with grip, grab
R has to do with run a along a line. A rim, rip, ran
m is both water, and repeating waves, a cycle that regenerates
K/C/X is the external action. Outside of the circle. going out/kathode
P is specificity. A person. part, place, point
N is a network, connection, nativity/nation
B is birth, beginning
V is splitting up, viral, vital, a branching tree.
The vowels seem to have more spacial/time dimension aspects to it.
etc etc. I read a book that handles the gl part, and the rest you can figure out on your own.
@@scruffyrex4797 What do you think about these ideas 3 years later?
I guess there may be some analogical connections between forms of movement of a mouth/tongue and sounds, phonemes, words.
That born again baptism is the mystery of all the ages, the opportunity to be made new again. But I don’t think the stone refers to a single church. Paul writes Christ is the stone. If he is in us, then we are the church.
