- This Lenten series was given as part of the celebration of "The Year of St. Paul." The lectures were given at St. Mary's Seminary in Houston, Texas.
I've never heard of this guy before and I'm Scottish, but hes obviously studied a lot of stuff and hes given me a lot to think about.
He is absolutely amazing. I found him from watching The History Channel when they did an entire series of episodes about Jesus Christ, his disciples, etc. They use him as an expert to explain things. He is actually a Professor and the tone of his voice and the way he explains everything is perfect.
Wow the ending is amazing!!!!
@23:57 finally! That's the best explanation I'd never heard for all those choppy sentences by Paul 😁 thank you, Ben
Ben is very good, he is a great teacher, I love him right with J P Moreland.
Love his work - so intelligent. One thing tho': the German phrase Sturm und drang = storm and STRESS. The German word for lightning is actually BLITZ (hence, Hitler's "Blitzkrieg" or lightning fast war tactics )
Rhetoric to Paul was secondary. Primary he was an evangelist with focus on declaration. He was not interested in dialectic.
This was marred by the inappropriate voice change at 44:36. He came across as ridiculing Paul's genuine appeal as an old man and prisoner for Christ.
Agreed! He's a man of many talents but the fear of God ought to curb our parading of gifts in appropriately. I've noticed the diminishing of the fear of God in other scholars' manifested in different ways too. Such a pity!
Am I the only one who finds it ironic that a North Carolinian with a hick sounding twang mocks an English, Home Counties accent?
I shut the video off during the shameless self promotion introduction.
Take the contents with a grain of salt. It will be good for you.
