You are so inspiring...I cannot express enough how much your videos have helped me open my computer and write. Thank you for sharing your journey and I cannot wait to read your debut
it's always so lovely to see these pieces of your life + I appreciate how much you share about the publishing process!! blurbs are also something i had never thought about but they absolutely sound like a nightmare, like how do you not feel like you're being a bother??? 🥲 but on the flipside, if i were an established author i'd definitely feel honored to have someone reach out for a blurb!! congrats again on your new short fic publication
Omg I remember we did side quests all the time before 😭😭😭 also you are stunning in all of these shots 🥹 It’s so satisfying to watch all your LH writing vlogs from beginning to NEAR PUBLICATION !!! I’m so proud of you ❤
My solution: Remember the specific lines in Tagalog my parents yelled at me growing up. Then check spelling online, keep it simple. If you have access to watching TFC, listening to dialogue (as melodramatic as the programming can be) is really helpful. Thanks for sharing your journey with us! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Oh, the bilingual thing! It's so much harder than a lot of people realize. Sometimes, I even have a hard time translating certain things to Spanish from English, even though Spanish is my first language. Not to mention that it's really easy to tell when an author never checked with a native speaker. I'm so excited for Local Heavens! It's been really cool to follow your journey so far, even if I haven't been here long. Your videos are so inspiring. Also, Clemmy is adorable ♥
@@TheSnakeInk translation is definitely tough! i thought it would be a quick thing but so much depends on context, and nuances differ between languages
it’s so inspiring to watch you prep ur book for publication in real time (ish)!! getting to watch your process motivates me on my own journey and getting to see all of ur writing-related activities looks so funnn❤ sososo excited for local heavens, happy debut year!!🎉🎉 i’m so curious how your parents reacted to the plot of ur book LOL like were they shook??
I love the b roll with Rachel and Celine! So sweet! 🥹 I will definitely be preordering LH! I’m excited to hear about your process with TFH, too! I’d love to know more! Congratulations on your published short fiction story! I emailed it to myself so I can read it! 🥰 Clemmie is too precious. I love her! 😻 I was so excited to ask authors for blurbs (I’m traditionally published in an anthology). Kind of nerve-wracking, but also kind of fun. I was given a template, too, so maybe that made it easier.
Your journey has been so aspiring, and the fact that your novel is releasing within this year is honestly incredible! Can't wait for the day i get to finally read Local Heavens!!❤
i love seeing this process for local heavens and tfh and it's so exciting that this is your debut year! 🎉 i love how transparent you are about your debut journey, but oh my god i never thought about author blurbs and that seems so stressful!! lol
If I ever get to sell a book I know I'd feel very similar to you, if not more anxious 😭 when people say "get a support system!" during querying and beyond they *really* mean it. And the blurb part- I would explode I think
I had no idea authors have to personally ask other authors for blurbs. The moment you said you had to draft emails internally I was like, “I’d rather die,” then you said how mortifying it is and I felt so seen lol
@@anysnameever3872 blurbs are more of a collaborative effort! authors do indeed have to do a lot of outreach personally but my agent/publisher also helped out. but yeah it is… terrifying lol
In case I haven't said so before, I'm proud of you and can hardly wait for Local Heavens. Having worked in theatre, I can make an educated prediction that your public presence will always be a tough balancing act. It's bound to take an inconvenient amount of time away from the work. The OCD part of me praises you for fact-checking the 2075 details. Suspension of disbelief is aided time and time again by specificity. Tis true that the lack of a cover (or in the case of films, a poster or trailer) makes people nervous on both sides. The publisher/distributor can sometimes get cold feet on their marketing strategy, and the readers/viewers who already anticipate your work will sometimes wig out on the potential of constant delays in the release. Wishing you the best of luck on Floating House. Until you reveal more context (which I advise you not to do yet for the sake of your privacy), my instinctual advice is that trying to make it work as a standalone is the best bet even if you end up with two books' worth of material.
hello kris, i would like to ask for your opinion on this. hope you'll reply 🫶🏼 my horror novel is written in third person limited - present tense. i plan on having several flashbacks for this book as it does deal with past trauma and grief. So for these particular chapters, I plan on using past tense. would this be too much/jarring for the readers? do i just stay consistent with present tense even with the flashbacks? or can i use past tense? thank you in advance ✨️✨️✨️✨️
I intend this to be cheeky and not rude at all so please don't take it that way but I had to smile at your description of your novel being a queer reimagining of The Great Gatsby when TGG is like... Just so queer. And so queer baiting too! But to me at least - so queer haha. Subscribed and can't wait to read it! Love from NZ.
it really is an incrediblyyy queer book but i don't think most english classes teach it that way. (maybe times are changing. i went to a catholic school though lol.)
@@KrisMF I'm actually an English teacher lol! And while I've not taught it, if I did then I would 100% be analysing its queer themes, and that would be 100% cool with my colleagues and most of my students. I'm in quite a forward-thinking, all girls school though, and I know that while times have changed for me and my students at my school, they certainly haven't come (out) as far as they need to. But I absolutely LOVE doing comparative analyses with my students so a novel study of TGG and Local Heavens would be SO much fun. All the best for the final stages!
Hey weird question but do u and lynn kinda time ur videos to release together? I know ur good friends and u released videos hrs appart and im pretty sure this is the second time (i look forward to both of ur content so i take note lol). Anyway quite sweet if u do, just got curious lol
