- Featured are 2 game reviews where Leela Chess Zero (LCZero) plays without a knight. The first game (5+3) is my first encounter with LeelaKnightOdds on lichess, where Leela is white and without a queen knight. The second game (3+2) is where LeelaKnightOdds plays as white without a king knight against 12-time Czech Chess Champion David Navara. Observe just how devastating Leela can still be at knight odds given opposite sides castled positions, space invader pawns, and/or the bishop pair! That is so crafty. Beautiful play
Posting during the candidates Jerry?
I intend to cover some games yes. 👍
As an Australian I have no clue what you are talking bout so it ain't that important.
@@ChessNetwork you're the best, ty!
@@ChessNetwork that's what we want to hear 🥰 thanks for your excellent content 🤩
Surely you have chess in Australia. World Champion Candidates. @@lilgiuseppe2501
Hello Jerry: thanks for the lesson
Hi Jerry!
Hi 👋
Sorry ... I'm 30s late
Impressive
Alpha zero trash
incidentally, such short time controls are ridiculously bad for any human (except maybe hikaru and such)
Magnus and such,
Whats hikaru and such lol like hes 1st
game 1:
an excellent plan ... but you did not execute it, trading only ONE piece (before the house fell in) !
I surely can not win Leela even with Queen odd, too strong
wow
😮 this is insane
a really fine win for Leela. Thanks Jerry.
It's one thing analysing other people's games and another playing against a silicone version of Morphy.
Never let leela the bishop pair, never castle on opposing side, never underestimate leela pawn push ability and react really early. Glad to see you came to the same conclusion :) do you win the rook odds one ?
I beat Stockfish and my credit score went down 200 points.
Best way to beat an engine is to not play an engine
N. Best way is to smash comp.
Leela without a knight is just trade them until they have to defend an end game
Well like Jerry said, easier said than done.
Leela won’t let you trade down
Hi Jerry.
David Navarra fared rather well versus Leela in this matchup.
i recomend Boris Trapsky bot. Whats the time control?
5+3 in jerrys game and 3+2 in navarras game.
did you actually watch the video? both time controls were mentioned by jerry.
This is more interesting than the candidate actually
no its not
Jerry loves Leela
I don't understand 32. Ra3 - Bd7; 33. Ra2. (What does Bd7 do that makes White change its mind and move the rook back one square?)
(Does move 39 - d5 provide the solution?)
Probably because after black doubles the rooks the white rook on c1 will need more protection in some lines involving the opening of the c column. I imagine it's some sort of deep computer prophilaxis..
Leela (like all computers) was probably just shuffling because it saw no better plan. Many computers such as Stockfish do this as well.
I wonder why Leila played 32. Ra3, then 33. Ra2 on the next move? Seems like a complete waste of a tempo. But I guess the robot must know something I don't.
(Oh, read that right áfter posting same question.) Indeed.
Leela (like all computers) was probably just shuffling because it saw no better plan. Many computers such as Stockfish do this as well.
Really cool
Stockfish is like a sniper always finding the most insane tactical sequences 20 moves down the line.
Leela is like an anaconda, never winning all at once but just squeezing the life out of you until you're completely paralyzed.
Leela without calculating a single ply is about 2300 strength just from her evaluation function. She sees so much without variations.
SF crushes leela
bpfh 2 strong
Jerry would be proud that he became stockfish for a moment there with the classic alpha0 trapped bishop lol
0:35 Dude, you’re so considerate!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Was I the only one that got scared after watching?
Be very scared…AI is here. 😎
🥸
fr fr
No. That was a bishop pair from hell. Very scary.
@@ChessNetworkI mean yeah but human vs human is where fun is at. AI can’t steal intuition and psychological warfare with your opponent r8?
That game vs Navara is one of the most terrifying things I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing these with us Jerry
👍 It’s a really impressive bot. Give it a try sometime.
What I find crazy about these bots is how much control they maintain down a piece. Even games that I win against stockfish don’t feel like I’m up a piece until very late in the endgame.
Amazing.
A piece of the future in the past.
Learning self teaching
Software able to change its own code.
Where will this go when instead of 64 squares its the World ?
The Future is here.
Nice video
Stop bullying the robots; they have unlimited memory.
A robot never forgets.
Caught this on stream. That bishop, man what can you do? Great effort either way
killer Bee's~!🐝 never underestimate the bishop. ty ChessNetwork~!
Incredible
Does Leela have a wtf moment at the beginning? Ok user, stop effin around. Where's my knight?
Leela's evaluation can be sort of unhelpful early on in these odds games. I think because it considers the position so completely losing, lots of opening moves are sort of equally bad, so it considers moves like 1.f4 acceptable.
This is a Leela net specifically trained to play with a Knight odd. So, in a sense, this Leela is an expert in this position
@@sonicast5631 Small correction; the net itself isn't trained to play with knight odds, but the bot uses a relatively high Contempt so it pretends to only be down a pawn or so.
Awesome video! Is Leela single?
No, runs on at least 64 cores, I believe.
Thanks Jerry really appreciate your commentary! scary stuff remembering us that Leela can defeat a 2750 super-GM with a knight odd!
Looks like a fatality. Doomed by a heartless machine. Bishops looked like unavoidable laser sabers. No pity.
I love watching your videos while I eat my lunch.
Do you live in the states usa ?
👍😎
awesome
Leela scares me. Stockfish plays like an AI, it's fast, but predictable. Leela NEVER does what I'm expecting. Stockfish makes me go "Damn, I missed that move", Leela makes me feel like we're playing totally different games.
I love these analyses.
Yeah playing Leela in this odds format has a really different feel.
