Aaron your a star, by far the easiest tutor to follow for learning Photoshop learned more in one week following your 30 days of photoshop course than I have in the past six months watching many others THANK YOU
Thanks Aaron for Day 12! Good thoughts on ethics. I used to simply want to take great photos and now I can see there is so much more to telling a story, the emotion evoked and purpose.
I just want to say a very big thank you for this series. You have succeeded in making me love photoshop. I never knew i could ever use the program but at day 12, i already can work on pictures. Thank you Aaron.
I like the way you go through the whole tutorial before you mention the reason why we should use the smart object instead of layers in general👍🏼, it is a real experience, and make meaning for people to deeply memorize and imagine that if you didn't convert the image to a smart object, you'll be wasting a lot of time re-edit or make changes. Aaron's video is really worth-watching👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼!
Just thought this might be worth mentioning. When I went to use the Ligiufy Tool I was getting a very strange affect on the image. It was as though the image was 'stuttering' as the brush moved. It wasn't anything like the nice smooth image being shown in the tutorial. Eventually I found that the default setting for 'Show Backdrop' was ticked. When I turned this off everything was fine. As I say it was a default setting and so others may encounter the same problem.
Aaron is one of the top three PS teachers that I’ve found on UA-cam. He may, in fact, be the best of all those folks I’ve seen. Thanks for helping us learn, Aaron.
Dude you are the best, I love all your videos and how much effort you put into these videos. I just came to Day 12 and I already feel I am getting good at the workflow and at the skill at the same time. Kudos to you!!! 🧡🧡. Could you also make videos for After Effects and Premiere Pro too? That would be amazing.
I needed to clean up a man's blazer shoulder that got stretched way to the side when I was removing an object that partially covered it and didn't know the name of the tool I needed. Some loose googling landed me first on some terrible dude's video about liquefying that had all kinds of gross comments about bodies. I am so glad once I knew the tool name, I ended up in the Phlearn channel, where tools are explained in a kind and clear manner!
So if you don't want to affect the background, can you make the model a selection and bring that selection to a new layer where the liquify will only affect the model and not the background?
you can definitely make the model a selection and bring that selection to a new layer where the Liquify will only affect the model and not the background. ☺
The main reason is that smart objects are not directly editable! Try using a brush on one:) Also, don't turn things unnecessarily into smart objects. They take a lot more space than regular layers.
Aaron, can you re-do a tutorial on using the Liquify Tool for PS 2024? My PS is current, but the tool does not at all work fluidly (Is that a word?) like your tutorial in your 30 days of PS, and I wouldn't be surprised if functionality has changed. The forward warp tool does not act like your video from four years ago. In the current version the tool is hardly visible, and there is no visible result until you hit okay. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I've checked all my settings from the right side, but it seems to hardly make a difference. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
Aaron, I just noticed that the Liquify tool performs just like your Day 12 PS tutorial ... in the Beta version. Why would the effects be different? Curious.
@@cfr1205 sorry to hear you're having trouble with this! The Forward Warp tool might have changed its behavior slightly. Try experimenting with different brush sizes, pressures, and angles to see how they affect the warping. Consider using the Freeze Mask tool to protect areas you don't want to be affected by the warping. We will add this on our list of to do tutorials! That way we can give you a more in-depth walkthrough so the updated tool.
@@phlearn Thank you, Aaron. I will do just that. But, in the meantime, the Beta version of PS is giving me the results I need. Thanks for your response. Much appreciated.
heeeeeeelp!!! My "twirl, bloat, pucker" don't work AT ALL! I've reseted preferences and all and it doesn't do anything :( all the others modify the image but not that one :(
I just realized Photoshop has a huge bug! If you liquify a smart object and then flip or rotate it, the "liquification" does not flip or rotate with it!!
For some reason when I go to the "Liquify" option right at the beginning, it says "Could not complety liquify command" and from there I dont know what to do haha
Aaron, thank you for verbally including the extra smaller steps and magnifying the tools and options making it easier for all the newcomers to PS.
I second this!
Tons of tutorials about PS here, u r surely one of the best
Really engaging teacher and a great series! This guy and the series is a treasure on youtube!

Best teacher! Best tutorials! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Thank you Aaron. Always great stuff!
Even though you're an expert but the way you're teaching can be understood by an absolute beginner also 👏👏😊
that's literally the one job of a tutorial
Only a good teacher is able to do so. I know many Pros cannot break it down to these easy steps

Thank you very much.
this is great.
Thanks aaron, these series are awesome. I want to subscribe in Phlearn, but it seems your video hosting is blocked in my country
Im actually getting addicted to photoshop bc of you
Can you use the liquify tool in the iPhone app? If so I can not find it
enjoyable....thnx

is there any reason you wouldn't always want to automatically make *everything* a smart object????
The main reason is that smart objects are not directly editable! Try using a brush on one:) Also, don't turn things unnecessarily into smart objects. They take a lot more space than regular layers.

I don't understand about small object will you please elaborate?
I always saw you working with your Wacom tablet. What happened to that?
starter help: you can convert the image with ctrl+j. it will copy into a smart object and a new layer, so you can see before or after
Young Jordan Peterson, thanks for the lesson
Awesome, think I would have changed the shadow shape 🙈🙈
Thanks ..

MY TOOLS ARE GRAYED OUT IN LIQUIFY AND ALL MY FILTERS. Do you have any idea how to fix it? All the tools are missing in the filters.
I have the same problem too. in the end, I didn't convert the layer to a smart object so I can use the liquify tool.
