Tip: save EVERY BIT of scrap from this meal and make Frankie's Rent Week lentil soup with it. I chilled and strained the braising liquid to remove fat, then made lentil soup with the leftover cabbage and pickled veggies. Delicious!
Made this recipe and it is AMAZING! Our local grocery store had a great sale on this cut, so I decided to give it a try. It was perfectly tender, juicy and extremely flavorful. I made tacos one night and Korean bbq beef bowls for lunch (using rice and leftovers from earlier in the week). So good and so filling. Next time I'll make a double batch for extra meal prep uses. Thanks Frankie! You rock!
I decided to make a variation of these with ground turkey today since I had every other ingredient on hand already. I think the turkey worked out quite well! I just got a quick crust on the turkey with some high heat, took it out, then built up the braising liquid in the same pan (I added less liquid since it would not cook nearly as long), then finished cooking the turkey in there. Quick and easy, but the flavors were great!
Korean Tacos?!! JAJAJA~ We call it SSAM(= veggie wrap) I'm Korean girl and really enjoyed Frankie's video. Very creative :) TIP: If Gochujang(red pepper paste) is tooo spicy to you, try Ssamjang. We usually use Ssamjang when we eat Ssam. Wish not that expensive in your country. Also, you can steam your cabbage, make it soft, easy to wrap. ua-cam.com/video/7eJUakJdm7g/v-deo.html Can I expect Frankie version of Bibimbab, next?
This is an old comment, but if you or any others want it still: www.tastemade.com/shows/linear-struggle-meals/recipes/meat-more-bang-for-your-buck#korean-style-braised-beef-tacos
Been doing this for years. Before I knew what braising was. Used shoulder clod and other tough meats. Spices and peppers/onions make all the difference.
Looking good and fit Frankie. Try making a struggle meal with Samgyupsal and how to get the best meat that are cheap and create an instant grill for the meat just to feel the whole korean experience. Thank you for the fresh video.
Yay! More Struggle Meals! Frankie, you make eating as a broke person so much more interesting. Thanks for all the great ideas. I just made that spaghetti with olive oil and broccoli from Season 1.
Question: what to do with the braising juices after the steak is cooked? Surely they shouldn't be thrown out, but somehow reused for some other recipe. Can these juices be made into a gravy or a broth for ramen noodles? Suggestions anyone?
1. got glass noodle? Jjimdak Dangmyeon ua-cam.com/video/9dP1hIhQz9k/v-deo.html - glass noodle: soak 30min in water - Simmer the sauce, put soften glass noodle(drain water), cook 6~7 min. Stir often, so not stick to the pan. - Add some veggie(sweet potato, carrot, broccoli..)/meat/seafood(shrimp, small octopus..) for nutrition balance. 2. got Tteok & fishcake? Ganjang Tteokbokki ua-cam.com/video/G_S_9VWQcAE/v-deo.html 3. got rice & egg? soy sauce egg Deopbab(= sauce on rice) ua-cam.com/video/-3y_AR7zYXM/v-deo.html 4. or...You know how to make curry? Use this sauce instead of curry spice. ua-cam.com/video/ZPKsqqWgG6s/v-deo.html 5. everything FAILED? Don't worry~ Put some more gochujang with chili powder to the sauce. Strong flavor will cover the fail ;D ua-cam.com/video/Iq1vrT8Wt1Q/v-deo.html TIP: Gochujang goes well with cheese, ganjang(= soy sauce) goes well with butter. Highly recommend cheese on Korean spicy food.
Depends on what country you are in. Try getting a local grocery app to get an idea? Or even try ordering online, even if you don't buy everything you will get a price.

Korean Chili Paste will list in the fridge for two years Frankie says.
Not in my house! Haha!
Because you're using it, not because it goes bad, right??
😂😂
@@FrankieCooks ofc
Frankie Cooks, Yes indeed, I would eat that stuff on anything, it’s like the Asian Franks Red Hot Sauce.
Been doing this for years. Before I knew what braising was. Used shoulder clod and other tough meats. Spices and peppers/onions make all the difference.
You are the best person for the new age TY
Love Struggle Meals! Frankie rocks! Also... I’ve got to try this!

I bet that would be awesome with some ramen noodles. Or the base for any soup. Good ideas!

Still watch this video over a year later
Hurray!!! Frankie's back!! Also, I missed the piggy.
Looks delicious!
On a personal preference note I would use Napa Cabbage. Looks good either way!
Recipe isn’t in the notes!!!! 😭😭😭
What can you replace with the paste if you can’t eat spicy
These are great. Chuck steak is getting it's day.
We’ve waited 3 months for this!!
My favorite one
What would be the time equivalence in a slow cooker? On both low and high?
@FrankieCelenza what do you think about Slow Cookers?
Why are there no written instructions with ingredient measurements?? Why??
Looks delicious
I cant have the spice but I finally learned how to braise. Thankyou.
How much money do you think it would be to start on the “struggle meal plan” getting all the basic ingredients?
Depends on what country you are in. Try getting a local grocery app to get an idea? Or even try ordering online, even if you don't buy everything you will get a price.
Where can we get that fermented Korean spicy sauce?
More Struggle🍴Meal video please... 💝😎👍
Hm! I wonder if I can braise the beef in a slow cooker instead?
I'm embarrassed by my bag of fast food/take out sauces once I saw that ridiculously organized drawer of free sauces.
QUICKLES! ❤️❤️❤️
This is looks so yummy
Recipe?
Lol.... I am loving of the sugar in honey packets....😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
The braised meat can be replaced with green jackfruit to make it vegetarian.

seems like you would have to spend 200 dollars in F.F. to get all those 'free flavor packets'
wow never seen 60 cuts in the first 30 seconds of a video
Quickle 😆
Frankie
Now I know that leaf was bitter af you should’ve used red lettuce and not cabbage
It doesn't look Korean except the part using gochujang! It's like saying a dish including dijon mustard is French style food!
This actually looks like ssam
He said it was inspired. He didn’t say it was the real thing.
I bet you're NOT Korean :)

I love to be struggling like this lol.
shocked that no one is commenting on how he says gochujang
