I made a bee vacuum based on your design and it worked perfectly! Thank you for sharing.

Wonderful! We have been using ours for 5 years now and only had to replace the rubber seals a few times.

I have one very similar to this one. Works great for removals or swarms. I add frames in the deep, gives the bees a place to cling after they are in the vac and for the ride home. Makes transfer east too.

Been running this one for four seasons, starting to need some maintenance but works so well.

@@BeeSanctuary will do, i just went out to my shed and found 2x 8 frame WSP boxes and 1x 8 frame box that I will make into this vacuum. I have 3x swarms at work, that have landed in wind turbine blades that I need to collect. This vacuum will be awesome

Built one similar about 20 years ago. The only mod would be halving the amount of mesh so bees can hide away from airflow. If you don't understand let me know

Great idea. I was also considering using Perspex over the one end so we could see inside the box.

@@BeeSanctuary perspex is ok, I prefer wood or glass for other reasons. Over the years have made lots of different types, the one I use presently is a motor unit that sits atop a bucket and an electronic suction controller. If I get time I'll probably buy a battery vacc and modify that. It'll save on petrol using a 240V genny.

Some great ideas here, we have electricity blackouts daily here and always have to plan our removals around the schedule. We could cart a generator around, but if you see our vehicle it is quite full already.

I add frames so the bees have something to stand on ,in thedeep box

I considered placing their frames from the comb removed into the box at the removal site. I am thinking that the bees will climb onto the comb during transport, making the transfer even easier at the apiary.

In thehive box I put 10 deep frames for bees to rest on

I was worried the bees might get injured during vacuuming. I assume this was not your experience?

you don't need the lower super. run the hose out of the deep.

Yeah, that will work. It will make it lighter too. I've left it like tis as I wanted to experiment with opening the box on site and placing the frames in the brood box before transportation. The hope is that the bees would climb onto the brood during transport and then when we get to the apiary we can just place the box onto the floor and put the lid on. Have not tried this yet.
