The Eufy s1 was the #6 overall (it was close enough that it could have been a tie with the Ecovacs T30s)
The bad carpet performance was a big factor. (it was one of the worst scores on record for carpet deep cleaning)
In addition it lacked many features that the other flagships had such as:
      No mop edge cleaning
      No hot water washing
      No self cleaning Bin
      No dirty water detection
      No clean along floor direction
No ability to leave pads behind
      No auto avoiding of carpets
      No virtual assistant
      No dirt detect

I think this list needs a variation for "strictly hard floors" and "strictly carpets" with results skewed either way. I have 2 robots, one for my main floor which is 100% hardwood (Roborock S8 Pro) and one for my second floor which is 100% carpet (iRobot S9). I would love to know the best for each type, since there's no overlap. For example, I gather the Eufy S1 is pretty fantastic for hard floors, but didn't make this list because it's a general list. I'd like to see how it does on a list without considerations for carpet, and also what would be the best robot for carpets without considerations for hard floors. And as always, really enjoy the vids, keep up the good work!

I have the s1 pro. It mops better than anything I've ever seen. Only thing better is using my hydrosteam bissel crosswave. Vacuuming is good, but the s1 pro is mop first vaccum second. I haven't had any issues with the navigation other than it stays a few inches off the wall from my kitchen cabinets. Floors are clean.

    • @matthewcurry8618
      @matthewcurry8618 6 місяців тому +5

@patrickrk44 That's what I felt like the result would be after reading all about the design. My plan was to have a two robot system (shark robot for vacuuming, s1 pro for mopping), so in reality, the vacuuming on the s1 was just an added bonus. I feel like the s1 pro would've made it into the top 6 at least, and I trust vacuum wars, so this video makes my decision tougher.

Have you looked at the SwitchBot S10? It looks like a real contender for a great all in one. Dustbin, a separate water filling station which can be plumbed in and doesn’t need power as the pumps on the vacuum do the work. And in future there will be humidifiers and dehumidifiers where the robot can ferry fresh water to fill and waste water to dump(or even use). Would love to see you review that.

It would be great to know which vacuums handle thresholds/transitions the best. I have a few in my house that a robo vacuum would have to overcome and I’m unsure which one can handle it best. Also missing is effectiveness underneath objects, what kind of clearance minimums are there, to know if it can get under my chairs.

I’m new to the channel and appreciate the work you put into the reviews. Just ordered the Eufy s1 pro and the dreame x40. I was torn and would’ve loved to see a head to head on these two since they seam to be the best from what I’ve seen on different reviews. I have mostly tile in my house and carpets in the bedrooms with some area rugs. Deep cleaning carpets isn’t something I’m too worried about. I want everyday good vacuuming and good mopping. If I had a big mess I’d break out the regular vac and mop for an unexpected mess or spill. I have cats and teenagers and just want something that can clean well with normal day to day traffic in my home. I’ll post an update in a couple of weeks and let you all know my results and which one I decided to keep.

Its also much quieter the the Eufy s1 however the Eufy does mop very well.... If i do decide the to go with the s1 it will be with a hope that the software gets better, like separate mopping from vacuum for example. I would probably be happy with either if I'm being honest. it will be hard to decide but for now leaning towards the Dreame x40.

1: "No mop edge cleaning" it not perfect but in all reason it does a very good job and definitely doesn't fit in any category of "no edge mop cleaning"
2: "No hot water washing" Instead hot water washing it has Ozon which actually sanitizes the Water and the end result is that you could basically eat of the floor, sanitized is the key word, not hot water washing when going back, but constantly sanitizing
3:"No Self Cleaning Bin" I am not sure why you state it has no self cleaning bin - It does, both for vacuum and dirty Water - you might want to check on that again, unless i got you wrong and you're talking about a self empty system(which is in the making, app already has that feature, manual/auto)
4: "No dirty water detection" At the moment that is true
5: "No clean along floor direction" At the moment that is true
6:"No ability to leave pads behind" Why does a roller Mop need to leave the Mop behind if it gets constantly cleaned on the go - please explain that
7:"No auto avoiding of carpets" That is simply not true - Granted atm the Software for Vacuuming carpets is not up to par and the S1 does not deliver on carpets
Summary: Inferior or not needed mechanisms prevent a Superior Machine like the S1 to take the Crown in the mopping category

What i am missing lately in vaccuum robot reviews, is the test which height of steps the new robots can climb... Since in my flat every room has a step between 2-2,5cm this is an important feature and every channel stopped testing this a long time ago. But i think since every robot now has some cleaning pads installed they can not handle steps like this....
Another thing is the check with different carpets... In the past every robot review channel checked this, now this is gone, too.
And i miss the Xiaomi Vacuum x20+, it wins every budget review this year, since it is a robot with water and dust station and is only 399€ here in Europe

Awesome review and information overall not just because of the usual reasons but because I think this video is going to (or should) cause a reevaluation and innovation of the mopping tests… the only thing it seems that would keep the S1 from taking the top spot in my opinion could be the lack of edge cleaning (inherent in its design) but even that is a stretch for it to be #2. Missing the top 6 altogether for mopping is just an alarm bell that there’s something in the testing that is either over or under weighted in your scoring. I can’t speak to exactly what it is but I think something with the glow in the dark test ought to be utilized to display that the S1 does a much better job reducing, or even eliminating, pushing around soiled water/solution on its mop. This should have been evident in the glow in the dark wet test but I think the scoring is too easy and allows for the other top end mops to still score highly there when in practice they are good yes, but there’s a massive gap between them and the S1

I've read @vacuumwars responses to the questions about why the S1 Pro doesn't rank higher in mopping. And i gotta say the scoring system needs to be overhauled with some kind of weighting. The S1 pro smashes the competition in mopping. To score it 6th based on minor issues is wild when it is significantly better at mopping than those ranked higher.

I can't believe the Ecovacs made the list of top navigators. I had two of them and they were both awful. One thing none I've tried do well and that is avoiding cables and cords. Surprised the new Eufy S1 Pro didn't win the mopping section.

What about offline operation? There where multiple instances the last few years where companies bricked products by disabled servers or online frature denial. I want a vaccum not to upload my floor plan and to be managed locally only. There also should be a repairability score. A robot vaccum can easily last 20 years with a few easi repairs if modularity and parts availability are ensured.

I think these days obstacle avoidance is key. Even if cleaning is mediocre, a robot that does not get stuck can just keep cleaning. A robot that gets stuck is super frustrating, and I am convinced that nobody is sufficiently testing this. Every house is different, and a simple living room with a sock, a cord, and a plastic dog poo is not even close to a sufficient test.

Why don't you take into consideration the warranty, parts availability, and durability. I recently bought a Dreame product, although the mapping is great, you can not get parts easily and they don't have a warranty registry for repair. My unit has gaskets sticking to the dust bin when I clean the filter. I also tried to get an extra dust bin on Amazon. It doesn't work at all with the unit. Dreame offered me another dust bin at extra cost, I am still waiting on the part. I usually keep 2 dust bins so I can properly clean and dry them. My shark detect pro has all the parts available and the warranty was great. My lidar got stuck and they replaced the unit at no cost to me. I still have not tried a Roborock yet, but if the go on sale in the future, I will try them. As far as Dreame, they're not as good a qualty as the Shark products.

I bought a Dreame L20 ultra a few months ago, but returned it after a month because the vacuum bag was just about empty. I was using it on carpet and solid floors 50/50. My upright vacuum is like 50 times more powerful the robot. I'm scared to buy the new Dreame model..It worked ok on solid floors but not excellent either. The washing cycle was good but not perfect. Is there another model or another brand coming up soon?

People are sad about the Omni S1 Pro not being on here. Well let me tell you MY experience.
    -Good mopping (very)
-Good obstacle avoidance (ONLY IN DAY)
    That’s where the Pros stop.
Sorry but this product made the vacuum an after thought.
It does bad when picking up hair off a VERY thin carpet.
When I say bad. I had the X10 Omni. The fact the brush has some bristles HELPS BIG TIME.
I usually have to run it multiple times a day to clean my carpet properly.
At night time it gets stuck on wires under my tv stand or computer desk. This doesn’t happen during the day. But I run a cycle at night so I wake up to a clean apartment.
So far it’s gotten stuck 5 times on wires and stuff it should not. Simply cause it’s dark.
The X10 has a bright light. This was never an issue.
Calling Eufy for a return Tomorrow.
I just ordered the DREAMEx40 ultra.
    Praying to god it’s good.
Oh also the s1 doesn’t let you use your own soap. I like natural cleaners that are safe for pets.
    Can’t do that with this.

I M Really struggling here Vacuum Wars! I am very much focused on the X10 pro or the Dreame 40 Ultra.. I’m kinda stuck as Best Buy doesn’t carry the Dreame product for some reason and I have a $300 gift card. There are some things that the Dreame has that are really driving me that the X10 doesn’t. Bigger or being the arm reaching out when needing to.. I’m needing something that really screams at me that I’m not making that wrong choice going with the X10 from Eufy other than just the big difference in price.. & Bust Buy doesn’t carry the Dreame as?? Wish they did as I would go with it for sure! Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!
