I was once on a acid and shrooms trip. Listened to this song and I saw Jim speaking to me . I looked down and I looked like a microphone. When my trip was over i woke up and my friends told me I was singing the lyrics word per word. Best . Day . Ever RIP Jim Morrison , All Hail the Lizard King.
Man, I wish i could have lived when he did these things! I like the Doors, but this song is my most favorite of them all, i just never get tired of listening to it. I envy the people who could listen to this live.
I've said this before. The best live band that there has ever been. So much more than music - an atmosphere, a performance, a story, ideas, poetry, sexuality, stimulation.
This version is the best of this song, the one on absolutely live is different, sounds softer to me, this is the version with the most energy and feeling in it, this version is one of the songs that changed my life
mysticjaz well born in 74 never encounter them in rl but took acid as well together with doors at the speakers. I can tell u they touched my hart as well and that night i lost something not something i couldnt miss but innocent believes in society and how they would care for us all. the doors bring my emotions in the right balance and not thinking how fucked up the world really is. Jimmy being a anarchist is something u can spread to music i thank u for that R.i.P
More years ago than I care to mention, my friends and I took some acid, and listened to the version of this on Absolutely Live. Shortly thereafter, with this unearthly music reverberating in our heads, we walked outside in subzero weather and got into a misadventure that nearly cost us our lives. Many bands are "rebellious", but none are truly dangerous, nor pose a real threat to social order like the Doors. Sure, they fucked up; but they had POWER! What's become of us?
this is my favorite version of this. Its just fucking raw as hell I love it lol Jim is on point with his vocals not sounding tired or not into it and just going through the motions like in some of the other versions of this.
@daviddemola It is from the Doors Box Set - Disc 2 Live in New York (released 1997). It may be on another live album. But that is the one I have that this exact version is on.
When it's barely snowing at night but it looks like a blizzard and you pull off the road because you're scared to drive in the blizzard, you're there. Like CSN said, Long Time Gone. Peace to my 60s brothers, who grew up in the 60s, but are now in their 60s................weird man weird.
I love it around two minutes. WAKE UP... Has this dream stopped? This whole compilation in reference to the manufactured reality that is blinding us all, and the key to free ourselves. Recognition of it, and embracing destiny. It's fucking deep man.
today me n eight of my friends tripped on mescaline at the beach and i witnessed 5 of these ppl tripp fuking bawlss to this song. like fukin peaking and i felt their insanity within my presence watching their eyes n body twitches me on the other hand listened to "the end" and i felt in control of the clouds i was looking up upon... today was a great and indecisive day... with everything lol
Thank you for posting. I used parts of this version of Celebration along with other live versions to make one complete song and video synced with it. It's on my channel.
Epic is an overused term on the internet, but this truly is an EPIC, EPIC, EPIC journey of a song. Im intoxicated right now and this is tripping me the fuck out, If I was actually present in this state when this was recorded I feel I may have had a narcotic euphoria induced auto-orgasm. Feed youf head
@dustin3792 no....my point is you'd never hear about him in the first place. They could never get this kind of music out there today. Look at the market.
@bombhillsnotme2 I've had things like that but not with Celebration lol apperently I was rockin Soft Parade in the midst of a really potent Salvia trip. DIdnt finish the song cuz the trip didnt last tht long lol but my buddy said I got pretty far lol.
@fupasack2 The Lizard King was an alter ego that Jim made up as the "shaman" or "erotic politician" who could literally do anything he wanted to without recourse, which was his antithesis to the "free love hippie", like a tormented Adonis who's only desire was to stretch the bounds of reality and living poetry, to become a visionary through "a long boundless and systematic disordering of the senses".
I remember trying to work out what this all meant at the age of 15. Acid and mushies featured heavily in my equation though it never transpired to much! Wonder why though?
@stevom31 There's a big cloud around his death and I mean I blieve that she could have been involved as much as I believe he did just have a heart failure in the tub, His heart took alotta hurting but there's trons of research to do while he was in Paris Pam cntd ridin the H train and he joined her and I read that a close friend of Pam's had said that she did infact acidently leave out the wrong bag, He thought it was coke so he snorted it, I could see it.explain Pams major stability issues.
alguien me podría decir en que disco viene ésta version de "The Celebration Of The Lizard"?, me gusta mucho mas que la que viene en el disco de "Absolutely Live", en especial por la parte de "Not To Touch The Earth", le echan mas ganas no creen?......si le dan con tocho
it's pretty cool, but it is cut. Jims intro is a bit longer, and the is everybody in part is missing. Not to touch the Earth is a bit longer. buy the new york 1970 box set... all 4 Felt Forum shows uncut (almost)
a poet! a visionary! an artist! the world is enrichened by you...long live in the souls of mankind Jim!

Pure poetry. At its best. The man was as a master blacksmith of words, the stage, his forge, the microphone, his hammer.
This version is the best of this song, the one on absolutely live is different, sounds softer to me, this is the version with the most energy and feeling in it, this version is one of the songs that changed my life
It was a shaman no show man, JIM FOREVER
"for eternity..and beyond that too"

This rendition of this poem made me fall madly in love with Jim Morrison and The Doors.
He was a magician, musician, who could evoke deep emotions from people... Disturbing their souls
The Doors gave (ive) the best concerts ever!!!

Jim was destined to never see what the baby boomers would become. Can you imagine what he'd say?
Aaron Gowins Jim would yell...You're all a bunch of sell outs.
lol yeah a large amount of them became exactly the type of people they were protesting against.
Oh gosh me too!!!
The doors for life!!!
man i wish jim was still around i would have love to listen to the doors live

This song reminds me of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
I just think of that, "Once I had a little game" bit and BOOM! Reptiles are everywhere...
It is the: thus spoke Zaratustra.
The middle part is a song from their 1965 demo called "Go Insane".
an epic poetry masterpiece
@crashedsurver "the doors box set part 1 ", disc 2, produit par Bruce Botnick and the doors, editeur Chris Charlesworth.
