What EP of theirs is this from? Never heard this one. I need to get back to replacing the music I had by them and lost over the years! I still have two of their CDs,though.
@@alondathomas293 "In Your Face" is the name of the album. Personally it sounds better if side two and one were reversed...starting at side two. It sounds more consistent.

Angelo is probably the best/most natural frontman, ever. Every frame of him in any of their vids is must-watch, he's amazing live, and his vocals fit just about any style and are just plain cool. Dude pretty much *defines* what it means to be a great frontman.
No doubt. It's such a shame his personality also grated on the rest of the band the way it did. But that's the story of talent all too often, what makes them great is what limits them.
Agreed, but I also love the way Chris carried himself on his songs like Fight the Youth and Servitude. The different personalities and approaches is what made them such a great band. Had Kendall Jones not gone haywire, I really think Fishbone could have been considered one of the greatest bands of all time,
Agreed. My roommate in the late 80's was a dead lookalike for Angelo. Mohawk and everything. He visited his girlfriend in Paris when she studied there on her year abroad from college. The French actually thought my roommate was "Fishbone." At 1st, he corrected everyone. But then--> Paris club owners started offering him free drinks and etc. After that, when asked if he was "Fishbone," he would respond with, "Hell, yeah, I'm Fishbone!!!!! Be sure to treat my friends here with me good!!!!!" He'd have a impromptu party of sorts thrown by the club for himself, his girlfriend, & whoever else was with him. His name was Hal and his girlfriend's name was Paige. We all lived in an apartment in NYC when I took a year off from college. Way back b4 Covid19 and the great re-set destroyed everything awesome about NYC
I've been sent (and signed/added my name) to a petition on facebook-to get Fishbone inducted into "The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" about every year for the last couple years. It would sure be helpful to get more people's views support, It would especially help to please spread the word that there is a petition and to sign it! Be awesome to inject fresh energy and momentum to help to finally get Fishbone where they belong!!!
I hung out with FISHBONE all freaking day when I was 17! My friends were playing a show with them in town and I was in another band. I got there way early to hang out with my friends but they weren’t there so they let me in and Angelo liked me so we hung out! It made my year!! They were so nice and they tore the fucking house down!
one of the all time coolest and most talented bands of my generation. Why they never made millions sucks. Blame the monkeys as usual. Fishbone, if you read this, Thank you for giving your SOUL to us. We LOVE YOU. Keep ROCKING!
Good documentary about them on Netflix. Basically at first, they wanted to stay underground but later were hoping for hits. Because they couldn't be deftly fit into one musical category they didn't sell well. But you are right, they should be multi-millionaires by now like their counterparts RHCP.
it also seems like their record company also owns their masters, so im pretty sure they do not make a single cent except for the money on the crazy glue album and beyond. its a really sad thing to see.
Duan Torruellas BOTH BANDS THE BAD BRAINS, FISHBONE,AND, THEIR MUSIC SAVED MY LIFE, I WOULD BE IN PRISON OR DEAD,IF NOT FOR THEIR BROTHERHOOD, AND, MUSIC!!!
From a cultural, musical, influential, utterly original and live performance perspective, Fishbone at their peak were untouchable! I can't think that history will ever see a group of guys coming out of South Central LA writing and performing music like this... that fuses so many genres so well and mixes humour with social commentary. These guys are definitely the most unsung and underrated band to come out of the 80's and 90's LA scene. They changed the game for me and were a gateway to investigating many different genres of music.
***** I used to be a massive Chilis fan, Flea has said in interviews Fishbone has influenced him and the band a lot. They can play with each other in the same era and take influences from each other, that's what musicians do!
Super late to the party, but the 1989 Chili's song Good Time Boys used a sample from the Fishbone song Bonin' in the Boneyard and had the line "I'm talkin' 'bout my buddies funk it up Fishbone".
Man saw them during the Give a Monkey a Brain tour. Right before they imploded. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Kinda sucks they never had that break through hit. I will say it's never too late. Keep grinding brothers!!!
Saw them in Boston 1986 in tiny basement club in Cambridge... Mighty Bosstones opened up (Bosstones went to my high school - CRLS) They blew the Bosstones doors off times 1000000!!!!! It was the most insanely crazy good show I have ever seen until I saw them again at UCONN a couple years later.. I met them at a party after the show and actually got to jam with them - I played the drums - they said I was "a rockin drummer"!!!! Never forget that!
I went to see them at a club in Pittsburgh, a then unknown band called the Red-hot Chili Peppers opened for them and we could not wait for them to finish so we could hear Fishbone! As an aside, Flea danced in the pit their entire set. Good times.
If you cant get with this song, you cant get with anything quality...just the bass line alone has more character than most music these days...Fishbone should have been right there with the peppers...ask them, they'll would say the same! Awesome creativity and musicianship!! I'll always love me some Fishbone!! I was fortunate to have one of my bands play with them @ the Galaxy in OC, Cal. They rocked it!! Cool cats too! Not stuck up fools like most get when they get some pub...Rock on guys!!!
seriously cool...i remember first hearing them in 1989...ohh it iwas everything that was cool....i bought their album when i was kicked out of school for drinking!!!! lol!! oh man...their humor and comedy is so honest...so real....my music is so different..but i list them as a major influence....god blss FISHBONE! long may they play!!!!
i dont see how anyone who likes old school chili peppers wouldnt like fishbone and vice versa people just wanna be iconoclastic and say rhcp suck or sold out cuz they were the more succesful band in their time both are amazing artists and they have a great mutual respect for each other as should anyone who is a fan of the scene these bands came up in
This band is unbeliveably diverse! I mean, you just CAN'T put this into any category. This song has elements of ska, funk, soul, rock, metal, new wave and even... latin music? Simply amazes me.
Man, I should've started listening to Fishbone years ago. i started listening to them earlier today out of curiosity. I'm really glad I did. Even though I've been missing out on some awesome music, at least I listen to them here on UA-cam.
This song is so hot!!!!!!! I love this track, I played this album all the time!!!! Why they don't have a SiriusXM or Pandora Radio channel!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????
Yeah they mix funk/rock/jazz very nicely. I saw them in concert in Houston along with the likes of the Gap Band, Maze, and other top black groups back around 1986 and they performed this song. That was the first time I had heard of them and have luved them ever since.
Saw them a few weeks ago, and I honestly believe that they sound even better now than they did 20 years ago when I was in college, and they still have all the stage presence. Won't ever miss them again!

@lmnop otay They'd have been... the Red Hot Chili Peppers. RHCP is a huge deal to me, an all time favorite. They were not copycats; the styles developed alongside one another, and the two bands were friends (Angelo is on UMPP (1987)). But the similarities between RHCP early stuff and Fishbone is undeniable. It makes one wonder...
@lmnop otay Yeah because no black people got fame from music in that era 🙄 Maybe they just didn’t make the cut, ever think of that? There’s thousands of talented bands that get little to no recognition, not a race thing that’s just life.
The youthfully spastic reactions of the lead singer are brilliantly juxtaposed against the feminine undulations of the hula dancers... Goodness! Such whimsical fun! I quite love it! (...hic!...)
They never got huge commercial success but every musician knows and respects them. by the way, this video does not stand the test of time. The song does however. to this day, still no one sounds like fishbone.

I met Fish and Angelo at a show in Covina California. I was looking for a place to get high and they grabbed me and pulled me into the band room and I smoked them out and Angelo gave me VIP passes and tickets to their next show at The Forum in LA. Super cool guys 💯✌️
That might be the best video ever. Oh, my aching childhood.
Saw them open up for Parliament Funkadelic it was the best show I've been to
They were better than Parliament. I hate saying that with it being my first time seeing George live. He's getting old and the band ain't the same.
Funk passing the groove to the next generation
Fishbone is one of the most talented, underrated bands of all time. We're so lucky to know of them.

love how they had Tahitian dancing in the music video!
This jam came out back in the late 80's. I had this cassette. They were great but I didn't hear from them for a while after that. Fantastic band!!!
I had the cassette too.
