I’ve been a follower of street machine for 35 yrs , I’ve read countless stories on how the cars were built and you get a rough idea of how it goes but to watch a video of how it’s done to professionally is absolutely awesome I’m a falcon man and this xc blows my mind ❤😎
Howard, this is exceptional what you are doing and capturing it all in a build series, I know you and the team are under the pump to meet deadline Summernats, but keep up the good work, viewers appreciate it.
Once again another exceptional video inside the Astill inner sanctum. The craftsmanship that is going in this car is totally mind boggling. Thank you Howard 👍
From a non-car guy this is so fascinating. Really appreciate the "educational" component too, giving an insight into many of the great tradespeople and specific skills they have learned to be part of this journey!!!
The radiator is another work of art to match the whole car. Can't wait to see that interior finished ! Top shelf again Howard and Louise ,getting anxious now it's ending ! Hopefully Thursday nights continue in the new year.
Really starting to come together now, looking good Howard 👍 and a thumbs up to Louise for what she does, I'd dare to say there's some hours in producing these videos 👍
What a legend of the old school radiator, not many of them around. Arundel street radiators cranbourne was the bees knees for this work until it got messed up
Fantastic as always. Loving the in depth explanation of why you do what you do. Said it before and I'll say it again, I want to see the end result , but I never want this build to end. Well done.👍
Luv it luv it luv it. This car is amazing. As a mechanic for 38 years never really seen how a radiator is done even if I knew how they do it. Visually is better. Keep up the fantastic work, hanging out for the next vid
The build cost of this must be hitting 400K+! Thanks for doing all these detailed vids! Plenty of people will gain plenty of tips and tricks for their own builds.
I don't envy you right now Howard. It's a pressure cooker situation right at the pointy end too. I have all the confidence you'll pull it off mate. Can't wait to hear it fire up and drive down the road. Look forward to the coming episodes too. Regards Tony
Really enjoying the in-depth look at how you are building the car, the quality of the work being performed is outstanding. Seeing pictures in magazines of the finished car is always great however doesn’t capture what your videos cover.
been watching this build from the start from South Africa and this is level 10000, stunning work guys....finally awesome to see the ROLLS ROYCE FALCON XC come together ;) 😳
Awesome Howard 👌 coming together nicely.. That was pretty cool on how the radiator is made old school is the best.. Attention to detail is phenomenal once again mate.. Awesome content as per normal mate 👍 👌
@@AstillDesign exited to see this thing finished here on UA-cam I've been following the build for a while now and I'm exited to see the finished product!!!
Looks Bitchin Howard. The owner will have one very special piece of Australian Motoring History that will endure the best times of the Australian Car Culture. All the best to ya m8 ✌️
Its coming together really well, what a team is trying to achieve in a little over 3 weeks is a massive workload, on the few cars I've put together by myself its been 12 months from finished paint to assembled vehicle on the road and they were simple street rods. just the job of wiring in the modern elements of this car is a huge task not to mention trim and all the rest. top points on this series, I'm enjoying the process unfold.
The car is coming along really well and all the little detail stuff is worth the work if you want something to look great and be functional you don’t cut corners all the work going into this car is amazing keep up the great work looking forward to the next episode.
It has been a pleasure watching your work and seeing the car at this stage really brings home how close you are to completion. Looking forward to the next months uploads. Christmas on the backburner this year Howard? 😉
Another great video. My goodness the detail blows my mind (whilst also giving me anxiety ha ha). I hope you take a well earned holiday post Summernats! I’m scared to ask if there is another job waiting post this 😂
Well Howard you are a master craftsman. I have been watching this from the get go. You impart your knowledge and skill. Absolutely amazing. Started my apprenticeship as mech in 1978. Am Ford nut and have mucked with paint and panel. Currently building the Fg Group C. It's a FPV Super Pursuit with massive rear flares running 355s on 14½ inch old school deep dished to the rear. Rob Herrod suspension, Rob Herrod chip tune cold air and full free flow exhaust, shaker installed by me, oh true track locker, Currently flaring the front to run auto art 11½ inch rims deep dished to the outside with 295s. Just about to finish the first gaurd mould within the next week. My job is simple compared to yours. Thank you
Hey Howard great videos mate very educational for us not in the trade you tell your story in a down to earth real way , this has given me inspiration to finish my resto on my xa ute that I painted black in the 80,s and fitted a XC front end to be more modern lol going to replace all glass thinking of buying from Glass 4 Classics in plain not green - anyway just took back to metal and painted in PPG grabber blue , anyway your videos have helped me to understand that I am on track do it once do it right Merry Xmas!!!!
Hey Howard. Do massive projects like this live in your head permanently while you're in the build process? I imagine It must be hard to switch off at times.
There is a good one in Bendigo, does old and custom copper radiators, nearly went alum for my Cleveland until he talked me out of it, totally worth it.
G’day. How is a build like this one costed? Is it a quote system like building a house or is it based on an hourly rate plus parts? Thank you for the amazing insight into show car builds
It's great you going to Summernats sadly I was supposed to go sadly I got put in hospital and part of foot cut off so I had to cancel my Summernats because I asked for a refund Summernats of band me for life 🤣🤣🤣
Nice Build mate amazing body work and paint but have to say don’t like the modern fg plastics going in ruins the original design. Original dash and facia would look better
I like the look of the car it's just I find chrome really stupid for a car if you are gonna actually use it, and I really hate the concept of a "Show only Car"
Howard again you are heading towards disaster with a big block Ford behind a crossflow radiator. Those radiators could not handle a stock cleveland let alone a 429. You need an expansion tank of at least 1 liter capacity as growth room for any water based coolant. You need a proper WATER PUMP,. I will put my bottom dollar that you do not know what liters per minute and head pressure the pump is capable of , and yet you are willing to trust in the manufacturers mistake with respect to the XA,B ,C,D and E Falcons with the V8. I have run the $ 429 Big Block in an XB so I know the problems you are about to confront, best of luck .
Brass/copper does look proper cool in old school rides and suits them much better. Doesn't work so well when you have tight Jappa engine bays and the trade off is more turbo for less radiator🤣 A half size dual or triple pass alloy radiator are the only option efficient enough to cope with big power.
I’ve been a follower of street machine for 35 yrs , I’ve read countless stories on how the cars were built and you get a rough idea of how it goes but to watch a video of how it’s done to professionally is absolutely awesome I’m a falcon man and this xc blows my mind ❤😎

Clearly a man with impeccable taste.
Simon the radiator specialist was great, some good info thanks for sharing. Thermo's, clutch fans and paint 👌
No problem 👍

Howard when do you find time to sleep,so much going on wow,did enjoy the radiator segment ,nothing like ''old school'' craftmanship
Yes mate busy busy
This doing my head in and I ain't even building it. 😜 But I love people who are Diligent as I am too.
It sure helps
It’s looking magnificent noticed you put a Xa rear screen no heater element through it
It was the one that came with the car
Thanks Howard for another great video. I do love seeing how things are done old school. How good does that engine look in the engine bay.
Looks killer

love watching your series, hoping to see you at the nats with dad i’m hoping to get some good shots of the car too 🙂
That would be cool!
I hope the interior is bitchinly good
I think you will be happy
What was the black bottle you kept moving at 4:39? Looked like a Rupes compound?
Have been loving this. Amazing attention to detail.
That would be a Mirka bottle
@@AstillDesign thanks. I’ll check it out. I use Mirka papers. Big fan.
Another great Episode, any chance of a pic how you attach knock sensors to engine mounts?..Cheers
Drilled a hole in the solid part of the mount that bolts to the block and bolted them on
Been following since the start Howard, blows my mind how detailed this build is, true work of art. Have you entered Summernats 35?
Yes mate we are entered
Hey Howard. Do massive projects like this live in your head permanently while you're in the build process? I imagine It must be hard to switch off at times.
Yes mate 24/7
Another top video 👌👌 howard do you get nervous when there's not much time left
Always
Not many old school
Radiator repair shops left.
Not many old school anything left

Great, informative video well done. What was the model radiator ? Factory XC with Auto? Sleep fast Howard.
Basic configuration is XB/XC with air
If I ever win tatts you are definitely going to be the person I call to build me a car
Thanks Craig
G’day.
How is a build like this one costed? Is it a quote system like building a house or is it based on an hourly rate plus parts?
Thank you for the amazing insight into show car builds
Hi, normally an estimate then hourly rate, in most cases the build grows in complexity and refinement and the estimate is just a starting number.
Thank you.
What’s your method to keep on track with your builds. Do you have any project planning process that keeps everything on time and in its place?
I do have a plan but it changes every day

Yeah it is but hey not going to keep me down from still playing with my toys witch r 2 Holden v8 powered Geminis 1 a sedan other 1 a panel van
