Some ISTP complain: "You do not ask to hang out with me" and I answer: "You neither, coz you are an introvert lol" (So it could happen that we do not meet each other, we meet each other maybe twice a year). And I know 2 other introverts who are depressed for example. And they said: "Thanks for kickin my butt and asking for me to hang out a bit with you, you know I would not ask for it." But h o w you a s k for introverts hanging out together and what they prefer in order to save their health, might be another story. Those extros seem a bit unfriendly and bold to me.

Introverts need people too. In fact they need people exactly like this!!! So I really appreciate these two knowing their friend so well and trying to get him out because that would be good for everyone including him.

I mean they even created a fourth person to deflect to and make the interaction not so direct and assertive. Kind of like a therapist having a stuffed animal in the room to use for when talking to the therapist is too direct / confrontational / personal, but talking to the stuffie isn't.

I backed out of plans with my friends last weekend. A few hours later my doorbell rings... They said: "If you're not coming to us, we're coming to you". ps: I'm living in another city because of college, they came all the way here to hangout with me lol. They're fucking goated

We recently have visitors staying for a few weeks. I so want to just stay in my room, leave when my parents bring them somewhere, but I should really get out of my room once in a while to say hi. But I want someone with me when I'm with them or else I would feel awkward, cause they're also not fluent in English. At the same time, they aren't my visitors anyway so why should I feel obliged to be joining them every time?
@@moonlight__h3676 I guess that's up to your parents and you. But as part of the family and household hosting them, you should try to make an effort to make them feel welcome. I mean think about how you'd feel as a guest in someone else's home. You wouldn't want to feel people were deliberately trying to avoid you or that you were in their way all the time or that they resented you being there.
Life isn't about just you and if you act like that, life will give you just you / a very small world.
The key to being sociable is to not make it about yourself. Don't be interesting, be interested. Try to think of ways to relate to them and be there for them. Take an interest in them and what their needs and wants and interests are.
And show up at least for most group meals.
As for all activities, you don't have to do everything with them, but you should try to do some things. And some of the main things if doing anything big, etc.
But if you just disappear in your room the entire time that's going to be obviously weird and also taken as rude and maybe even hurtful.
If you see it as part of your job in this world to try to be there for other people and make their time on this earth a little better, that usually ends up benefitting you too. Also, it tends to help you grow and stretch a little and become a more interesting and valuable person.
There's no growth in the comfort zone.
I have heard the word "introvert" used as a verb and that makes sense. When people give into their unsocial tendencies they tend to introvert and close into themselves. Again, that's not where growth and being of value to others happens.
Try to think of ways to serve and help others a little every day (including in the form of trying to make their day and life better, being good company, active listening, taking an interest in them, acts of service, etc), and the good will you create might come back to you in surprising ways. You might even make friends. And even if it doesn't, you'll have done a little of your job on this earth that involves more than just taking up space.

I got burnt out from people for the first ever this past new years. It gave me a whole new appreciation for my introvert friends taking a mental health break. It's made me more understanding, and I've been taking notes from them on how to recharge better in the future. Hermiting for the win!

Sorry to double post, but I have a question after watching this and your recent short (Spencer and the snow😂): We know that you have been involved in theater in various functions (having studied drama and playwriting). Which part(s) of the UA-cam video process do you enjoy more? Is it the actual acting? or is it more the behind-the-scenes tasks such as writing, “stage and/or sound design” (picking out green screen images, background music), editing, etc? Is it a combination of processes?
Also, Oscar or Tony? In a performance category or a show/technical one? (Edit: Here before you decide to answer and say all of the above.)

@@marcwemtrust1480 He's an ENTP. The way he generates different new ideas eachtime for his videos, that's Ne for sure. An INFJ can generate ideas, but usually we'll stick to developing one idea (Ni) broadly, instead of making 100 small ideas. Also, INFJ humor isn't as good as the ENTP.

Aw thanks. U are so cute. Because most of introverts sound more like: NO! Go away, I do not want to BE with anyone. But going for a silent walk or just cooking in silence or playing some rpg together or cuddle or stuff...You rlly sound very different, not like the most intros I see here on web. :-)

The quicker way to get an introvert out of hiding is to pretend to leave the house. Give it five minutes, and they’ll be in the living room eating snacks with the TV on. 😂

I am glad my introversion is not at that level.
The sound of that knock on the door...my worst phobia as an introvert.
I can relate to the part about not getting a haircut. Talking to hairdressers gives me anxiety, especially since I don’t have the option of leaving during the trim. I just have to sit there while they ask personal questions. I might be less anxious if I had a regular barber, but I never know who I’m going to get. That’s why I don’t get a haircut until my hair becomes absolutely unmanageable.
Personally I just answer the questions but leave it p short. They kinda get the message I'm not much of a talker that way lol. But I totally feel ya.

The salon I go to has salons in my metro area, AZ and CA. They offer spa services and such and partner with Aveda. Last time I was there, they had a little sign up that (paraphrasing) "if you would like to simply relax and enjoy a quiet service with minimal conversation, please let your stylist know." I think that is awesome. I think a lot of us would take advantage of that. In addition, there would be introverts or people with social anxiety that are stylists. Or they could be neither and just appreciate the quiet while they work on you.
The other thing I hate about salons is all the questions. I am an introvert. I have a small group of friends. I don't earn enough money to go on vacations. As a single woman whose friends are either busy with their families or don't want to go anywhere, it isnt safe to vacation alone. Because of my age and the pandemic, it has been hard to find work. I don't like the type of men out there that are available. So it gives me anxiety when I get asked the usual questions stylists ask, "any fun plans for the weekend?" "Any vacations coming up?" "Any kids?" "Husband? Boyfriend?" I am tired of saying "no" to all and feeling embarrassed. I have anxiety and depression which is embarrassing enough. If you MUST ask questions, ask things like "Do you have any streaming services? What do you like?". I find that that question can take you both off in a non-personal direction.

I've been on some nice trips and visited some nice restaurants, dated some great guys where the timing just was not right, etc. Growing up, my parents always said I should be a writer. 😆

You can connect with introvert friends by doing individual things together (e.g. cuddle while one plays a videogame and the other reads a book). Growing up, we called this "Alone Time But Together" lol, and it's one of my favorite things EVER!!!!!

Having my boundaries disrespected, being guilt-tripped as a bad friend, or being manipulated somehow into agreeing to outings I do not want… just makes me think people only care about what they want instead of what I need. I do not need that sort of exhausting demands in my life. If they won’t respect my boundaries, I will enforce them. * clicks ignore *
This is a good mindset to have, but do try to make sure that you're not isolating too much. I know personally how nice it can be to isolate, but I also know how it can get out of hand. Just try to be aware of how much time you're spending alone.
As another comment on another video once said: "Introverts need time alone to recharge, but you do not need 5 months to recharge from a single night out."
