- This restaurant in Weissbad, Switzerland, is remote, to say the least. Perched on the side of a mountain in the Swiss Alps, it’s at an elevation of about 5,000 feet above ground level. Even if you take a cable car, you’ve got to hike steep terrain at least part of the way. That said, it’s a beautiful journey that takes you through a 40,000-year-old cave and by a chapel carved right into the mountain. And you’re following in the footsteps of hungry hikers who have been trekking to this restaurant for 173 years.

Been there. They've changed the owner several times. There are so many tourists, they just can't keep up. Strange to see them promote the place, 'cause they really don't need to.
Last time it was promoted on National Geographic, the whole place went to shit.

In the caves they even found stone age tools and lots of cave bear bones. You can walk thru them higher up the montain, where you find the most beautiful lake ( where i was ice skating as a child)

@Justine carrington Food is great here, portions aren't as big as in the USA and it's expensive, but the quality is great (at least in Switzerland in general, I've never eaten at that restaurant😉)

I was wondering how she got this place built in there and why she ever thought of doing such a thing and what did she have to buy in order to build in that mountain. I'd love to see another episode! This only whetted my appetite!! :)
She didnt build it. its over a 100 years old. and it most likely started as a hickers cabin for hickers to sleep in when they climbed the mountain

Was here in April last year during the lockdown. We hiked all the way there no cable cars. And we were the only tourist there apart from the workers. We sat there and had a ong chat with them then hiked to the top. She was very amazing.

Now it’s just really weird to see places you’ve been to being prompted on UA-cam especially bc they really don’t need to :)) I was there with my grandma and she told me that the owners change quite often bc there are just that many tourists and it’s really stressful bc getting food and basically anything up there is just really difficult
