- In this weeks video I make a hexagon shaped LED lamp that can be switched on by pushing down on the top of it. The switch is often something that bothers me next to a nice designed lamp so I decided to make this lamp with a hidden switch.

Really good design, but in my opinion using less LEDs is possible, because the end product "eats" lot of the light
It could be done with less leds indeed but then there is also less light on the outside.
Can you link the templates and link the electronics you bought?

I agree that it could look awesome with some hard wood as well. I do like the look of the layers from the plywood though.

Well made. Next time Id use a router for the outer and inner side, just finish off the inner corners with a jigsaw.

Thats an option too! Didn't think of that but you are right if you make a template for the router its easy to make them.

A beautiful lamp. Can you tell me the thickness of plywood and PVC? Do you have plans for this lamp?
The plywood is 9 mm and the polycarbonate is 4

I love this concept but I felt if you used a darker wood it would have made for better contrast with the LEDs.

Hi Tilak, At first I wanted to make it with some other wood, But In the end I decided to use plywood because of the nice layers. Thanks!
Brilliant design, perfect realization and a very well equipped shop. Congratulations. The only thing that I would change is to use a metal tube as the central column. This would let the LEDs run cooler (although it would also make the lamp much heavier).
Yeah, it is indeed better to have some heat conductive material for the led's. I didn't have a metal tube that I could use for it.

With a couple of changes it can be made with very few tools actually, there is no need to use the lathe.

What is the best glue to glue acrylic to wood?
I used clear bison kit for this build. Also because I didn't want the glue to be visible when done
