Arijit is on a whole different level when it comes to Bangla. His singing is full of emotions and soulfulness. And when he gets to do it in his first language, he’s simply at his best. Not saying that he is not soulful in other languages. But his Bangla songs just hit different. Bojhe na Se Bojhe na, Mon Bojhe na, Eka Ekela Mon, Mon Majhi Re.. the list just goes on

It's Been 8 Years, Still, This Song is one of my most Favourite Bangla Song. Arijit Da is Simply phenomenal and He has a whole different universe of Himself (in Bangla Songs). Arijit is like a Pure Divine Soul😌❤😇
The first part that you hear, the chant, that is the actual prayer and is in 'Sanskrit' language. The song is in 'Bengali'.

We speak it as asatoma sadgamaya it is a prayer with 4 lines (differs in regions) its literal meaning hey god take us to the truth from lies, take us to light from drakness, take us to life from death. It a prayer of goddess Saraswati (goddess for education every kind of music, art, any kind of edu.).
Almost all best Hindu prayers are about honing your intellect and wisdom and often doesnt mention God.

Waleska, your imagination in terms of the choir comparing to tiny droplets falling into the calm surface of waterbody is such beautiful and adorable. Your understanding of music is much more worthy of appreciation.
Sweet is a relative term.... But there is a reason some languages are considered sweeter than others.... The softness, the rounded and warm tones.... Bengali sounds sweet due to many of these qualities.... It is softer as all harsh and sharp tones are removed almost deliberately.... Originally from Bihar I often speak pretty rugged Bengali.... However, even I am sometimes amazed by how soft and whisperry some people speak Bengali.....
The way Weleska explains the song is so relaxing and relatable like I never thought that using words in the feeling of the song.

Nicely translated, instead of translating literal meaning of the words. Bcs writing is metaphorical.

You guys should really checkout Rabindra sangeet if you liked this. Arijit has covers for those songs too my favourite is probably Amaro porano jaha chay. But rabindra sangeet is the epitome of Bengali classical music and it’s worth to do a whole podcast on just that topic.
Rabindra Sangeet falls under modern semi classical.
