The Phantom Menace Maul is the iconic look character and his most memorable appearance, but from a figure and aesthetics pov, the DX18 takes the biscuit. It has a better likeness - the facial features, paint apps, the physique.... are a much closer to Maul in Solo than what the DX16 is to Maul in tpm.

Awesome Comparison vid! Thank you! I actually am on the hunt for a DX16 or DX17. I love the detail in the DX18, but I do prefer DX16 & DX17 for my collection. Phantom Menace! Classic.

I have both of them and tend to lean toward the DX17. Face sculpt is awesome. Great figures each in it's own right. Great video MOHC! Don't forget my wrench lol!

I have a very hard time getting the hands on my DX 17 to stay on, so I am weary of reposing him. Any ideas or tips you can give me?

Nice comparison! I've actually been debating lately which of these 2 Mauls to get. Nice see them side by side. Still leaning towards the prequel Maul since I like the source material better.

That's an awesome pose for The Phantom Menace Darth Maul. I'd go with The Phantom Menace Darth Maul over the Solo one. It's THE only good scene in Solo. But that aside he's still a solid figure. Darth Maul, and Qui-Gon Jinn, are my top two favorite characters the entire Saga episodes 1-6. But I am kicking myself in the ass not getting the Solo one, he's pretty much, both Maul's, sold out everywhere. And being such a HUGE fan I'd like to have all the Maul figures. Luckily I have The Clone Wars Maul ordered and paid off and can't wait to get him!

DX17 headsculpt is too dark (the red). I have it and I am disappointed by it. Other than that, it is a very good figure.
