    I have found that doing my root touchups every 3 months instead of monthly as helped the health of my hair. Also, I do a light root shadow to make the growout less unsightly. Works well. I know they say to do your roots every month (bleaching), but it is VERY hard not to overlap. It also gives your hair a kind of rest during the three months. I've also found that breaking up the process between two days really helps. So you do the back of your head one day, then do the front, the next. That way you don't have to rush through the process and can make sure you get every hair. Love that your man is so helpful!

      I think that is SUCH a good idea and eventually I think I will try that. The longer period of rest would be so good for my scalp . . . to be honest, I don't worry as much about my hair as I do about my scalp . . . I think if it hurts this much (and it always does) it can't be good!!!!

    Bravo! Beautiful job! I’m an at home bleach blonde too so I know how stressful it can be. I also make my husband do my roots lol, except I trained him to do the whole head lmao. Couple things that might help u that def helped me, try a better bleach than blonde me, everyone and their mom swears it’s the best on the market, but it’s not. It’s not a bad bleach but there are better ones, I use the joico blonde life cream bleach, it gets me white with no toner in like 45 min max. I only use a 20 vol developer too, and my hair is naturally a level 4. I’m telling u this bleach always gets me super blonde and leaves my hair very soft afterwards. I also recommend using a cream bleach, they’re gentler on the hair and scalp and have more oils in them so they stay moist longer and are more hydrating for the hair. Also a tip that I’ve learned along the way is when you think it’s ready to rinse, give it another 5 min then rinse it, that has also given me a great result. You def are right about doing ur roots every 3-4 weeks. I always do mine every 4 weeks like clockwork lol. You def get great results doing what you’re doing but these are just some things that have helped me get to the end result much easier and with less damage. I don’t have a license either, I get all my professional bleach and developers from eBay, I just make sure I find a reputable seller.

      OMG OK I'm writing it down: joico blonde life cream bleach. When I run out of blondme I will definitely try it!!!!! There is a hair store in my area where I think I can get things like this without a license. I would LOVE to be able to step down to a 20 volume, because I am so worried about damaging my hair. I think getting to a place where I could bleach without toning is my ultimate goal. I have also seen some clips of grey/dark Charcoal clay bleach on instagram? I am VERY interested to investigate that because they claim the same thing.
      tiny question . . . how do you and your husband deal with sectioning your hair? Do you pre-section?? This is my biggest struggle. We get it done, but it's just not really fast!!! There isn't enough time in the video to talk about all the things, but it takes us so long to section the back that I think it has usually already been 40 minutes before we even *start* the front. Time management and sectioning really stresses me out!

      @@kaylacupcake yes, I love that bleach so much, I’ve been using it for the last 6 months and it’s amazing, it’s also a white bleach so u don’t have to worry about a blue cast deceiving u. I just the dedicated 20 vol joico developer. All I use is a 20 vol, and my hair is darker than yours so u def could use a 20 vol. I saw the charcoal lightener as well and I was def intrigued but when I looked into it more all the ppl using it were saying it’s hard to see when it’s ready to rinse because the bleach is so dark and leaves such a dark cast, and I was yea I don’t wanna fuck with that haha. That’s why I love white bleaches, because u just wipe a little away and you can see exactly where you’re at, cream bleaches are the way to go. I remember I ran out of my joico blonde life cream bleach once and I had a powder bleach as a backup and it definitely was a good quality bleach but when I was done washing it out and my hair was drying, my scalp definitely felt more irritated and I had scabs and my hair didn’t feel as hydrated. Every bleach will cause a little scabbing and irritation but it shouldn’t be excessive. So for the sectioning, we use four sections and we always start in the back and work top to bottom, it’s just easier that way, and keep all your other sections out of the way and sectioned while ur working on one area at a time. It’s gonna take awhile to apply, I’d say like 45 min, my husband usually takes that long so as long as yours isn’t going over that you should be fine. Also, if you’re using a 20 vol he can afford to be a little slower cuz it’s a lower vol developers it won’t process as quickly as a 30. That’s why I love a 20 vol, it may take longer but it’s gentler in the hair and usually by the time ur done applying ur almost ready, I usually let my bleach sit on for an additional 45 min, I set a timer for 30 min when I’m done applying it and then I check it every 5 min until it’s ready. I also put olaplex in my bleach as well and that also helps a lot! Again, I get it from eBay, I have one seller I usually get everything from and I know it’s authentic.

      Okay this is actually so helpful I need to go through your comments and make a list. . . so far I need to:
      1. cream bleach not powder, preferably Joico.
      2. Only 20 volume, all the time . . . (I tried this two weeks ago and it worked great!!! I'm a convert!!!! No more 30 for me!!!! my hair was way softer!)
      3. 45 minutes to apply and then wait 30 more, then 5 min + 5 min + 5 min and it should be ready.
      When I switch to cream I will definitely go for the olaplex!!!
      TYSM for all the tips, you are the best!!!!!! I think my hair is a little hard-hit right now so I actually have to take a little time off, but I'm still committed to the game. We'll see when I'm ready to bleach again! Maybe 3 months off to regain some strength. About two weeks after my last bleaching, I showered and tested the hair that came out . . . it stretched apart for the very first time... I think that means take a little pause.😳 I think the high-lift color after bleach is doing me in . . . I need to rethink my toner solution!!!! Do you use anything you really love atm?? Would be happy for a rec. I love the cool/ash look xx

      @@kaylacupcake yay I’m so glad to hear that the 20 vol worked for great for u! So the bleach is “joico blonde life” it’ll be way better for ur scalp, trust me. Sometimes it can take a little longer to process, depending on if the room is cold or hot, but I usually end up around 45 min total for processing, not including the time it takes to apply it. If you’re using a low volume like 20 then you can afford to let sit on a little longer and not worry about damage. I stopped using toner cuz I always found it would darken up my hair way too much lol, my husband would always say why are using that stuff? It makes it so dark and defeats the purpose lol. So I just use a purple shampoo, and i find that works best for me cuz I still have that translucency but it’s still toned. If ur roots are not lifted all the way to a level 10 the it will not tone it very much, but I always get my roots really white so it’s not a problem for me. When I did time my hair I always looked for toners that didn’t require a high vol developer and that were ammonia free, like redken shades EQ, or guy tangs toners, I really liked the pulp riot ones too. I think once u switch bleaches and use the 20 vol, you’ll notice a big difference on ur hair and overtime with using such a low vol developer and a good quality gentle bleach, your hair will start to repair itself and recover. I always do my roots every four weeks like clockwork and I actually have breakage that’s been able to grow out from when I used to have highlights, from just using a low level dev and a gentle bleach. The olaplex really does help a lot, you should def invest in it! That also makes the bleach even more gentle on ur hair and scalp so it’s even better for ur hair. Don’t use high lift to tone ur hair! High lift colors are packed with ammonia and will wreck ur hair over time! Those should only be used to color correct bands or whatever, not to tone. It’s way to harsh on bleached hair. Lemme know how it works out, you can also hit me up on IG @theblondedeath

    Wait, if that is your natural hair colour on those pictures, you could totally get away with 6% (20vol). I think you're using the blondeme lightener, it's quite powerful. On my roots, we can get away with 2%(6Vol). But than again my hair is not as course as yours, but you could try 6% and let it sit 5-10 Minutes longer, it should work just as well and your scalp should feel way better, in Germany e.g. you aren't allowed to use 9% with bleach directly on the scalp.

    • @AnotherOpinion1997
      @AnotherOpinion1997 3 роки тому

      And I feel you with the toner, it's expensive! We switched to the colour lines of fanola, it's waaay more affordable. Just be aware that you get the toners for the ends. They also have a permanent colourline which you can mix with like 1,05% and use as toner as it's really gently for a permanent dye, but maybe only do that as the shadow root if you want to try it.

    • @kaylacupcake
      @kaylacupcake  3 роки тому

      Thank you for this nice comment!!!! It's SO interesting that you aren't allowed to use 9% directly on the scalp -- it should be like that, because it hurts so bad. I think I'm done forever using 9%, it doesn't make any sense for me. The most recent time I did my hair (I didn't film it) I used 6% and it came out great! I think it was a lot more comfortable. Thanks for the tip!

    • @kaylacupcake
      @kaylacupcake  3 роки тому

      ahhhh thank you for this... can you tell me what Fanola toner you are using??? (Or toner combo??) I don't really feel like I have the patience or talent to do shadow roots every time, but I think they look SO much better. But I am now 100% sure that I can never use the BlondeMe from this video again -- it is way too damaging for my hair. I have to switch to a real toner, so I would love to know which Fanola color you use!

      @@kaylacupcake We're still trying it out tbh. But the T21 worked great last time, we used that as my ends still had a slight orange tinge to it since we used a medium grey before that, which had a neutral undertone to it. But the T11 I think would work great, too. Those two are from the no yellow line. We also want to try the silver toner from the prestige line, I like my hair more on the ashy side.
      But it's great, they cost just as much as other toners, sometimes even half, but have nearly double the amount in a tube!
      But I'm not sure if those toners are alkaline or acidic, but so far we haven't seen any critical damage from those when we used the lowest dedicated developer.
      I also want to try Matrix toners in the future, too, I think the line is called socolor. They have acidic toners, which are as gentle on the hair as an oxidative toner can be as far as I know. They cost just as much as regular toners, but have 90ml which is more than most regular toner tubes have.
      If you're interested in a bit more of a lilac/pinky platinum, you could try out the instamatic smokey amethyst or muted mauve. They're acidic as well and are supposed to tone yellow roots really well.
