Need to also understand that before 2015 pension was not part of defence budget now since govt has included it in defence budget the amount left for modernisation would obviously be reduced.

@@BisboWorld May be the agnipath is good but implementation by government is very bad airforce aspirants who have cleared written, interview, physical and medical only there joining was left government canceled that recruitment without giveing any satisfying reason they have apply for that in 2019 at that time there was no agnipath no corona after 2.5 years of waiting there get nothing and how there will complete in new agnipath after 1 year of break in study (same for army students) these students may appear negligible in Indias population but feeling are real they feel injustice (injustice is injustice it's for whole country or one student)

There should be an alternative system of employment for the retired defence personnels such as their involvement in university in defense related programs or in govt policies which involves defence or in corporates that have stake in defence. This uproar from the youth would not have caused.

I feel 3 changes can make this scheme even more transformative-
1. Minimum Qualification criteria should be made 10+2 instead of 10th so that Agniveers are atleast 12th pass out before they enter the Armed Forces. 50% Credit points under NEP would be granted to Agniveers by Armed Forces post serving tenure so that they can go back to college & earn a degree in half the time, helping them compete with others.
2. Medical Benefits should be made available to Agniveers & their families even post retirement. If incase in a conflict they get injured, while government will give them 1 Cr. as compensation but their & their family's future would not be as secure. Who will run them from hospital to hospital charging exorbitant amounts for checkup in old age, how will they take care of their parents. Atleast allow them Medical benefits so that they know that incase they get injured, govt. schemes will take care of them & their families. It's important to keep their morale high on the battlefield so that they don't think about their future post retirement while on the battlefield.
3. I feel A Phased Wise retirement might be more suitable because if you're letting off 75% in one go, you need to have that much employment. Public Sector will maximum take 25% of those 75% being let go. Half or 50% would still have to find either employment or start their own business. With 10th level Qualifications, even if Army provides 12th level certificate, there are very less chances open to the people with that Qualifications in the market. You need atleast a UG degree to earn a respectable 20-25,000 in the private sector, specially if Agniveers are married in future & have children.
A phased wise retirement-
1. 25% after 4 yrs
2. 25% more after 2 more yrs= 6 yrs
3. 25% more after 2 more yrs= 8 yrs
4. Last 25% serve 4+2+2+11= 19 yrs as announced (no changes)
4 yrs would get Agniveer Package as planned
6 yrs would get Agniveer Package+ Gratuity
8yrs would get Agniveer Package+ Gratuity+ Ex-Military Status (helps them avail Canteen Benefits as well as Healthcare).
19 yrs would get everything being given to current lot who serve 15+ yrs.
This way atleast half Agniveers would serve 8 yrs while half would retire by 6th year. 75% would retire by 8 yrs. Assuming agniveers would join by the age of 18.5 (once they pass 12th), start service by 19 post 6 months training, still 50% or half would retire by 23-25 yrs with half their UG degree done due to 50% credit rating. So they need to spend 1 more year to get a degree. By 24-26 they would be UG, they would have a handsome amount in their bank account. They can start their own business for which they would get an easy loan as announced under Agniveer package & also get employed.
This way the people outgoing per year would be also less which would make it easier for Public & Private sector to employ them as well as since you won't be giving them Pensions still, there won't be any increase in Pension budget, although their could be slight increase due to Gratuity being given to 50% more out of 75% you are letting go currently.
We in India all look at the army as some sort of an employment exchange, not realising its there to fight and won wars, if the age average is the same with CAPF's and our neighbours have the latest tech. Chest thumping and Sentiments don't won wars. Everybody want's to serve the country-IAS and the Armed Forces, while missing the point that our country is in dire needs of responsible citizen too. I guess they missed that point and end up burning public property. With regards to the scheme, I believe it was deliberated by men who think of the country's defense as core priority, let us remember our country is not short of youth and population.
with 11 lakh in pocket and loan of 18-20 lakh available you can start a business or even start you college because 21 is not too old to go to college
Watching this video reminded me there was pink 2000₹ notes few years ago. I hardly see those in atm or given in banks.
That flow of money is intentionally cut down by the government. Now , do you see many raids being conducted and these pink notes being found ? That was the hidden agenda of the demonetisation. Now every flow of big cash is being monitored. Every single penny will be recovered when the currency piles up at a place.
This is a move towards the right direction. Of course government should look for the wellbeing of the personnel already in the armed forces, but when it comes to new recruits in defence, welfare should be secondary in budget.

They shouldn’t worry about them being a threat to society. A 4 year stint in the army will teach them to be more responsible and confident. I think they’ll mostly be an asset to the nation as civilians.
However I do feel that they should be exposed minimally to war/Coin as possible. PTSD and a lack of goal after leaving can be a dangerous combination.

I study in the USA, a tenth of the US students in my class have worked in the US army and have now returned to pursue their higher education. They are well treated and proritised for placements. I hope the same for agniveers takes place in india. Social support and net are better in the USA but that doesnt provide justification for withdrawing agniveer, safety net will also improve in india parallely.

Yes it is true that ~12 lakh of money at age 21 is relatively good, but soldiers will be left unskilled in other jobs. This point needs to be considered as this will increase un-employable persons. Neither much income as private security. Bisbo also skirted around this point it felt.

I think as Indians we like get emotional to every thing which is said to us,let's take your channel as example every week you post some of complex and informative videos which make us think. Now coming to this video government says we spending(losing in government's lingo) on pensions and salaries if we cut them we can buy more defence equipment with 37,000 crores it's really sounds amazing but the corporate tax evasion of 2020-2021(only one year) is 75,000 crores instead of thinking of how can we atleast get half of that money we are thinking of cost cutting moreover in defence which is sensitive subject as our borders are surrounded by china(one of the largest army in world) and Pakistan(which is hellbent on Kashmir)so we have cut our salaries to soliders,what happens when we pay less wages people will try to find money from other sources which leads to corruption.......i want to say more like this comment so i can rant out😊

Government should instead of bulldozing in reforms should try to take all stakeholders in confidence before to avoid situations like the farm protest and now this.
Farm protest was a communication gaffe but surprisingly and somehow, government has shown flexibility this time and already made changes

Person with combat/war fight skills can't be left
1. without regular income pray to misuse by different organisations, should be consumed in similar government / private jobs.
2. Combatant can't move freely among civilians without a risk, check can be incentivizatiion programs like covering them like life insurance, medical, school etc.
but the age limit in french army is 40 years

I think Every year 90 cr rupees are used for mp, mla pension. But the army has a very big budget we can neglect them for now.
after every 5 years there is an election. If people continues to vote for the same old dirtbag, then we know whose fault it is.
Reducing number of soldiers will be the most stupid idea that Indian Army can dream off. That too When China started using Pak as proxy to keep engaging India. Nepal is also started blocking the so called conflicting territories like "kala pani", now they ask to handover "sikkim". Assam Rifles is completely failed to handling North East, Myanmar gifted Coco islands to China raising risk to Andaman Islands. All these issues are raised by China to keep engaging different locations and dividing our power. All the above the current strength of Infantry battalions are going to the lowest in the region, it's dwindling to 600 to 1000 soldiers in a battalion.
Relatively our Neighbors have:
- Pakistan Army has almost 500 Infantry battalions completely focusing on their eastern border. that too excluding reserves.
- PLA has officially claimed to have around 1000 Infantry battalions mostly focusing on western borders, considering land border.
- Nepal also goes vulnerable and we may face some physical resistance in the absence of strong Army presence.

Hence, reducing Military strength is a stupid idea. Increase the timelines of serving Agni veers to 6 years. give direct entry to these Agniveers in forces under MHA and state police. Remove open military bases from LAC and LOC to ensure protection from Artillery and rocket barrage from China, Build small tunnels near LAC and LOC and use them as military bases during war. build small caves near to the OPs to store huge amount of supplies. Increase number of Mules, Yaks and Himalayan camels for uninterrupted supply lines.

The process of joining as an officer is the same ie after 12th or after graduation
For officer level you have to join NDA after 12th. All the best
