I tried your bait method with the tin can lid on the bait and it ties off it works great and the bait seems to not be touched by other beaver as the dead guy keeps them away from trap area so has been my experience so far. Thanks for you ideas and sharing them
Ya I've been looking at vids to learn new ideas as I've been doing the old learned methods for years and I'm surprised how many ideas are out there regarding sets etc.@@NorthernTrapper
I'm getting eager to get after some spring beaver. Most years I'm catching them by now but everything is still froze up tight here. Neat idea with the can lid. It is difficult to pinch a bait stick in those Belisle traps. That's the one thing I have against them. Take care Brother!
The beaver system is brilliant. What i hate about under ice trapping is the scavenger hunt of poles and then assembling the mess. I do not have the patience for that. Have you had a beaver not cut try to take away the wired on bait stick?
We make that type of mouse trap at our cabin on the west coast of Vancouver island. We use a five gallon bucket and peanut butter for bait works great but attracts mink to the dead mice and you know the mess they make have fun.
That mouse trap is awesome! Was hoping to attend the under ice beaver workshop this winter and give it a try but - not this winter. Hopefully next year so I can try your set ideas.
There is a couple fur buyers looking for coyotes and hopefully we make a deal in the next we for the coyotes. The beavers will most likely get shipped to FHA. .
@@NorthernTrapper hope to make a deal this week with GFW with my coyotes. I will freeze the fisher/marten and beaver which of course goes to FHA in the fall.
@ 13;52 that is a nasty wood boring insect damage, usually I have found the "off" taste of those trees the beaver do not like to chew. I know it is only an example. Try some bacon fat with the peanut butter for the pool party.
This was my worry as well thinking that it would be hard to setoff without it firmly anchored. I haven't tried it but this method does work of hanging 330 as this is my O1's go to set in March. I will see in a couple months or try it out on my private land license.
Always something new to learn. The aspen 330 idea is a simple and effective way to get the beavers interest. The fresher the aspen the better.
This set works well in Jan - Feb as their feed beds get stale. It’s like dropping a candy bar in to a kindergarten class.
@@NorthernTrapper good analogy.
Thank you for sharing. Made half dozen of the other day. Put out four yesterday and connected on two today, 18lb and 52lbs
Right on 👍🏻they work well.
Baited conibears like this for beaver have been around since the 60's, but using the can top with the bait is the neatest way I've seen so far..
Thanks Jim, You should check out one of my recent video on the baited beaver trap hanger.

Happy to share with fellow trappers. Glad it worked for you. Hope you catch many more beavers.

I really like seeing other trappers tricks and ideas. Gives me just one more option in case I run into a situation. Thanks.
Thanks for watching Melvin. 👍🏻
love the soup can idea, the duct tape for your roll of wire seems to work great as well
Heck of an idea! I like the pvc but the can lid really got me!
Thanks Rich. Hope you try it and it works out for you.
Love it trapper ingenuity 👍🏻 great ideas good old soup can lids I used them for securing 110’s on muskrat floats. Keep on sharing 👌🏻
Appreciate the comments Ken. ✌🏻

We are frozen here as well and the ice will be iffy in the next couple days. Good luck in the beavers once the ice opens up. 👍🏻
Saw video on your mouse trap for barn rats worked great good luck with your trap Blake
Don’t think we have a mouse problem but can’t be to careful. Glad to hear the traps work.

I’ve had them go missing before and also had them chewed a bit but they are easy to replace.
It would of course make sense to have extras on hand. I was just curious because other beavers would be attracted to the loose bait stick.
Great video learn a new trick everyday tell Blake great mouse trap hope he catches his limit thanks for sharing Jason really enjoyed it 👍👊
Appreciate the comments and support Ronnie. I’ll let Blake know. 🤞🏻👍🏻

We should be safe from the mink in the shop and I’m hoping we were hearing things. 🤞🏻👍🏻
Great demo. Thanks!
Appreciate the comment. Hopefully it works for you.
Great information and thanks for sharing. Later and you guys be well.
Nice setup.

Hope you do get a beaver workshop in next year but don’t miss out on a little spring beaver action. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

more ideas are always better
Great video, thanks for sharing. Are you going to be freezing your coyote pelts until at least fall?

poplar borer name Saperda calcarata
Thanks for the tip on the wood. The little buggers would probably eat anything fresher then what’s in the feed bed right now.
So do you just let the trap hang free on the cable or wire fasten to the conduit? ???
Yes, the cable is attached to the 1 1/4 pvc pipe and it just hangs from the pipe.
@@NorthernTrapper I'm surprised it doesn't swing to much. But I never tryed it.
Thank you
They are used to grabbing floating sticks under and will come to grab it from the top.

Northern MacGyver
Instead of a wire to hold your anchor pipe from unravelling use a 4 inch nail
👍🏽
Give it a try and let me know if you like it.
Great video!!
We have a video on our channel of us getting 2 beavers on the first check!!
Cool videos and great channel! New sub and friend from Switzerland:) Greetings #tinubbq
Thanks for the sub!
Wast not want not. So your going to show us the mouse trap, skin, flesh and stretch? 😂
We’ll see.....
peace of Styrofoam works for bait they think it is wood
That would probably work but isn’t natural and would end up in the waterways.
