We played it recently and decided right away to buy one. That's unusual for us. We're not professional pinball players or collectors-- just enthusiasts who play a lot (me since 1971). When we started doing tournaments for fun a couple years ago, we saw the new machines roll out, and were scratching our heads a lot...but not exactly pulling out the checkbook! We absolutely love the new Led Zeppelin machine. I think it's because we want to play pinball, pure and simple. A lot of the other new machines are like playing video games-- no bueno! This machine is an instant classic, just like the music. Ramble on!
I love Led Zeppelin and I love pinball. Didn’t think this is something I would ever see. If I ever see one out in the wild, I’m playing a few rounds for sure.
Plays fast and smooth. Not liking how that upper flipper hot shot can feed outlane though. You should have shown us that the center ramp is 'accessible' with every flipper...
jjp cant spare the brain power. JJP squeezes their very small group of smart people to make amazing games. Stern has a comparable army of average designers who make average games.
Definitely on a whole a big disappointment for me. I love Zeppelin but not this pin. Still keeping my deposit for Elvira and looking forward to Godzilla
Zach, I gotta say for a "non-competition" player, you've got some excellent flipper skills. When the whole Covid thing finally settles down, you should play in some tournaments or leagues. It's so much fun and I think you would do well.
I got to play it this weekend. I gotta say it is not that bad of a play..but it does feel like a typical Stern... if that makes any sense to the average pinhead enthusiast. I guess I kinda expected more. The artwork kinda sucks. I love a few of the ramp shots and it plays rather fast. Don't think I'd buy one as it just seems like one I'd get bored with rather quickly. Stern has to learn that "Toys" alone do not make a great pin. More mechanics and better artwork just to start. But it's worth a play or two.
Thanks for the vid !👍 any chance you guys make a review video about AIQ? Or will that be in a lot later stage of the code.. Thanks for the awesome video’s always
Looks like a nice shooter, but I'm worried about how satisfying the mode/song shots are. I usually like it when a pin's modes have strong integration, and I like to have fun things happen when I make lit mode shots. It seems like on LZ the song continues either way, whether you make shots or not, and the only benefit to making mode shots is scoring and progress towards a wizard mode. Sorta makes it feel like one long multiball mode, regardless of the number of actual pinballs on the table. Still, that's just my initial impression.
The lit shots in the song modes change when it moves from Verse to Chorus or Chorus to Guitar Solo etc. You have to hit a certain amount of them to complete the mode and then hit a certain amount of them (described as twice as difficult) to collect a Gold Record. Get enough Gold Records you get the main wizard mode.
The tour aircraft is a modern 737 800 that didn't exist back then. No central toy or clear objective? The upper flipper has no flow. Great band though. Thanks for posting.
Premium looks to be where it’s at. Seeing this has slightly changed my mind, but not enough to be 100% on board, maybe like 50% at this point. Anyone else immediately reminded of the Train shot in Addams with that stand up from the upper right flipper?? Basically the exact same layout/shot.
the upper flipper has only one thing to shoot at, and on the pro without the 180 return to the right flipper it's a dead end, wonky, unreliable shot. the lack of a solid return path for the upper flipper makes this pro a no buy for me.
@@CasperInkyMagoo For sure. Like I said, Premium is where it’s at, and I’ll of course play this when I can in the future, but I still won’t buy one either way. It’s one of the laziest Ritchie playfields I’ve ever seen. Really just a shame given how it hypothetically “greater” it could’ve been. GnR is making this look like an absolute joke. JJP starting to assert their dominance in the creative aspect.
Felt like I was trippin on acid with how you started the video with the lighting, fast video shots of the playfield, and ball movement. I take it that was by design.
Bally should have made a Zeppelin pin in '79 when they made Kiss. Like Kiss, Zep was past their peak, but still hugely popular with teens. Making it 40 years later just seems questionable. Maybe it'll be better in person.
Looks decent, but I can't help but feel a little disappointed as AC/DC, Aerosmith, and GNR have all gotten way more satisfying playfield layouts and art packages, and none of them are as epic as Zeppelin.
Definitely a big disappointment. My Elvira deposit stays right where’s it at and looking forward to Godzilla. Will play zeppelin on location of one comes up, but definitely won’t be a NIB purchase for me.
I like this and it reminds me of ST; but don’t see what the centre ramp and angel thing adds. Looks tacky like Mick on a Stick from Rolling Stones. Also and they could’ve done so much more with the Zeppelin, maybe an up post like the left ramp on WPT- lock the the balls inside the balloon to start a multi ball? Slightly dated looking compared to JJP GnR
@@CasperInkyMagoo They can do better and they have done better. In my opinion, out of their last 12 titles, only this and Stranger Things have been duds. Their last title (AIQ) looks really nice and might be my next purchase. The hate bandwagoning is a little much here.
