Old SDTM shows got me into pinball, because of the passion you guys have for the hobby. It made me realize there was something more to the game and I went way down the rabbit hole. Glad to see you fellas doing more shows. You two are great for the hobby and are always entertaining. Thank you for my addiction.
Greetings from.Australia guys. Your passion is infectious and. Despite the drama that we see sometime we are living in the best era of pinball ever. Keep up the great work in showing your love for the silver ball. Cheers
Mmmmmm dude, I love my LE as well (Zach). And Greg has been trying to show off with his scores lately, I gotta catch him. Neither of us had hit a billion yet though, that’s our goal.
I played both the premium and pro models at the Chicago pinball expo and I have to say I enjoyed playing the pro over the premium. Not having the upper level or the shark itself wasn’t a deal breaker. Fantastic coloring and easy to follow the ball. Welcome back guys!
I honestly can’t choose which Elwin I like better. I think my order is Godzilla Jaws Maiden JP and then IQ with Bond 60th still an outlier because I haven’t played it, but code might change that order for me once Jaws is at 1.0. Jaws was a dream theme for me. I wrote a 40 page final paper for my film appreciation class on it. I’ve probably bought the film 6 times at this point between VHS Laserdisc, DVD and, anniversary DVD, Blu Ray and now 4K. It’s easily a top 3 film for me, and the second this game was announced I knew I needed to have it.
Absolutely incredible game. Fast, fun, beautiful, and challenging for all skill levels. The light shows are incredible and the new code is really improving the whole experience. Premium/LE is an absolute joy to play and makes me want to go back for just one more game all night. Well done, Stern. Team Elwin blew this one out of the water!!
Great review, I'm glad I'm not the only one that has a hard time distinguishing between modes and variations in light colors...but as you said, this game will only get better. I play a pro model in an arcade setting where I'm playing lots of the new Sterns side by side and I love how unique the Jaws table looks and plays. The playfield is so open (without feeling "empty" like Zeppelin) and the ball shows up so well against the blue. I'm constantly trapping the ball with the flippers or mini flipper to pause between shots yes the game still seems fairly fast paced and the clips and audio do a good job of keeping the tension up. As many times as you can get the lifering or have the ball feed back in from right outline, it feels very forgiving... that said, I haven't even been able to catch one "bounty hunt" shark yet ...
Very fun, fast moving game, played premium for the first time yesterday. Off one card swipe, popped two free games on score and hit match twice as well. Nice creative shots and playfield. Agreed, Night Swim mode is very cool.
Love ya dudes! Always great to see a new pinball review! Love the shirts you guys are wearing. I still need to play Jaws! Hopefully I’ll be playing it next week with my brother in Canada when I visit him.
Yeah we talked about forgetting to mention that a couple hours after recording. I honestly forget about using it and usually drain trying to get it set. And with its limited time thing ehh. It’s definitely innovative, but it think can be executed better in future games.
Great video as always guys! I agree with both reviews/ratings. I understand what Greg meant about the enjoyability and I think it goes back to the issue from prior. Jaws lacks moments where you end up thinking about the game fondly. Solid game though and very fun to play on the premium.
Going to expo for the first time this year to try to make a decision on game #2 for my collection. Right now Jaws premium is the leader in the clubhouse.
Great review and always good seeing videos from you both I had no interest in Jaws until I played a Pro....then bought one! Would definitely upgrade to the Premium down the track if i had the chance, but content with the Pro at the moment. Playing it everyday and makes me come back for more each time.
Jaws is up there with Wonka for me and right behind Godzilla. Godzilla>Wonka>=Jaws>J. Park. Jaws just shoots great, it really does. Once you figure out where you need to go, it really does play great. The only drawn back for the premium is that when the shark goes down sometimes if you hit the ball fast enough it goes with it and you have to wait for it to get pushed back up. It really sucks when you are doing a multiple ball because the game doesn't sense it's down there so you will end up with one less ball unless you active jaws or you run out of balls during that time. Also on that same shot the ball can get stuck behind Jaws when he is going down (there is a wood piece there that the ball gets jam into) making you have to take off the glass to pull it out. I am good enough not to usually have either one of those happen, but my wife and anyone coming over usually gets the first thing to happen to them a few times. Outside of that, the game just plays really great to me.
Elwyn games are made to reward for knowledge of the rules and it totally does same thing with jp and godzilla . They are complicated yet when you figure then out you can do insane things
Awesome to finally get another Review from you guys. Hopefully you’ll get around to doing a Venom Review sometime down the line ( just picked up a Premium and would love to hear your opinions)
I can do a venom review for you! It's the worst pinball since silverball mania. Just trash. Venom sucks. Venom sucks. Venom sucks. Venom sucks. Venom is TRASH.
You can beat the modes but I think they needed to do more with this. The modes beat and you don’t even know. You don’t know if you beat it or it timed out.
Hey fellas... For many of us pinball novices... you need to drop some links in the video's description about who "Michael" is. You guys reference designers, etc. And us novices don't know anything about them... Thanks! :)
The movie snippets on the screen for landing shots feel very cheap to me. I would prefer someting that matches the desgin and the theme of the board and gives you a feeling of accomplishment when hitting lanes or combos. And this compllaint i have to many stern tables. Some pixel drawings that repersent the shot similar to the boards you have on consoles or the older ones a way cooler and i still hope that one day thay will create such board. It really lovers the quality when they just put some movie snippets in. Its just too easy and often doesnt fit the board itself
I agree with the missing the feeling of progress of the modes. I absolutely love my premium but can agree with feeling I lost in the midst of a mode. Still great fun!
Was waiting on this one. Enjoyed it. I have a premium JP, Zilla, and Stranger. Got the Jaws LE. Glad I did. Beautiful cab. Pr/LE upgrades necessary on this one. Do not like the premium artwork. LE is gorgeous. I would say, when my friends come over, this is the one they like to play. None of us are good btw. But it shoots so smooth. And we are all late 40s, so this theme is money to us. I find myself playing this one the most alone. Could be because it's newer. But it's a much longer game. I love multi-player games. And honestly, Jaws is not good for that. The turns take too long. But people that don't play much love it the most of the 4. Awesome machine. And fellas, I did have 1 magical over a billion game....
And by the way I don't think it's a bad game but it's definitely not Bond 60th I do wish it had some sand for the watchtower down towards the bottom of the play field break up the monotony of the blue
@@SDTM like I never understood why they didn't do that from the factory there's a lot of blue accents of blue lighting. Having some sand down at the bottom where the watchtower should be back by the flippers even 4 inches of it would make more sense and make the game more movie accurate and more complete
...honestly, I don't like Jaws. Probably Elwin's weakest pin so far. Too much unused space in the middle and I'm not a fan of captive ball shots required to start main modes, seems to cause weird return angles. Shots to this element can come back uncontrollable and drain, similar to shield shots on AFM. Speaking of playfields, the upper playfield covering the lanes and hiding the ball is also not something I enjoy. That, plus the aforementioned issue with the lip of the shark popup makes the Pro preferred over Premium, which is just kinda awkward from a marketing perspective. (Although I do really like the upper playfield shot, reminds me of Gladiators). I dunno, may be an issue with my local machine but I'd rather play literally anything else in the Stern catalog.
Still would rather add a grand and get a jp data east t2 or demo man rather then get a premium played both extensively. But if your getting all premiums or something this wouldn't be one you passed on.
This reminds me a little bit of when St. Anger came out. Every person with a brain noticed that it was not very good, but all the critics would not dare to speak the truth. This is not that bad compared to Elwins previous games, but it really looks to be the weakest. Stern has cost cut the playfields so much, that it is a joke now. Their Premiums should be Pros. (Pros should never have been made). For the 10k price of a Premium, it should at least contain a few cool toys or other features.
I have a JP premium and looking at the two next to each other there seems to be a lot more variety of shots in JAWS. I think when the code gets finalized the Jaws may be a bit better. Agreed that all of Elwins games have been a lot of fun.

Robert Shaw is Quinten. Looks sweet but I still favor Godzilla.

Easy pass but great for $10 on location. I’m holding out for BTTF, Little Shop of horrors, beetle juice and He-man even if it’s APs doing it.
