Unfortunately, this is more common than you think. I barely started my nursing career about a couple months ago and I have gotten bit, punched, pinned down, and slammed up against the wall by combative patients. I'm only 21 and weigh 115 pounds so I'm an easy target. The one time I was truly afraid for my life was when I was taking vitals and the patient pinned me up against the wall and nearly choked me to death. This guy was huge and doped up on several drugs so I couldn't fight him off no matter what. Thankfully, because he had disconnected himself from the machines in the process, it alerted the other nurses. Some people aren't always so lucky though. I worked with a tech who was 19. She was working in the neuro unit and was stabbed. People underestimate just how dangerous healthcare jobs are. Especially ER and ICU.

Alex survives, but falls into a coma. While she is in her coma, she relives a traumatic moment from her childhood: witnessing her father's suicide. Once she is done reliving that, she can talk to Charlie. She wants to have a baby with him once she wakes up. Yet, in episode 3x3 Joel kisses her and she wakes up. In the next episode she asks Charlie to give her a little space, because everyone wants her to say that she remembers or that she knows but she doesn't, since she contracts amnesia. She likes talking to Joel at this time. He cheers her up, just the way she needs it. She regains her memory, but has now fallen out of love with Charlie. She and Joel begin to date. Alex gets pregnant, but is unsure of whether the father is Joel or Charlie. In the season finale, Alex passes her surgical boards and has her son, named Luke after her brother Luke Reid. Soon after, the news of Joel's death is delivered.

    I experienced hypovolemic shock once.
I was litrelly 5 minutes away from clinical death.
Yes when ur dying, u get really weak, and i mean, so weak that my eyes are the only things I can move.
I cant even utter a word or move my mouth, let alone move my body.
I really thought I was a goner that time, i already accepted death as my eyes are closing and i cant fight it, someone uttered "dont sleep or ur nervous system wont restart".
But luckily a gym mate of mine called the hospital ambulance and I got IV or fluids, electrolytes and glucose.
But after a day i was still weak, on a wheelchair for another 3 days.
Dying is the same as falling asleep, but the difference is in sleeping u wanna sleep.
In dying, its litrelly ur body going to sleep but u dont want to and ur fighting it. Its like when ur fighting that afternoon aftersnack drowsiness, but the magnitude is multiplied 10 times.

Accidentally over medicated the day I broke my back, started to loose consciousness and oxygen. Luckily my dad has O2 tanks to spare because he is a disabled vet and my mom grabbed one, cranked it up and threw it on me to get me to breathe again. Closest I came to dying. Almost felt like I was falling backwards and the world around me was going forwards. Like a sinking feeling or a trust fall.

@@sierrastar5155 Did you watch it? because what you are typing is contrary to what's shown. Alex's heart rate was high due to her traumatic injury. She had a monitor implanted because of her irregular heartbeat. Dawn called her as she is the physician monitoring her heart sensor. Dawn call's Alex to find out why her heart beat is so high. Alex barely lets out whispers of "help" on the phone. Hence Dawn rushing to find out where she is. Alex has realised how much blood she is losing while she can't breathe (because of a collapsed lung, proven in S3E01) and gathered all her strength to crawl and push that button. Common sense? What's not common sense is you not understanding any of that. To add to that, it is very plausible for someone to think logically after having a traumatic injury. I experienced near death once during a white water rafting trip. I fell out and was being sucked down into the deep icy glacial melt of the rapids. It was a level 6 or 7 rapid and I had zero experience and didn’t know how to swim really(stupid I know)…I kept my eyes shut for what seemed like eternity…at first I was starting to accept my fate…then I decided “no…not without a fight..” I opened my eyes despite being afraid of what I would/wouldn’t see. It was as pitch black as you could imagine and no sound, just silence and pressure against my ears and my chest. suddenly I saw the tiniest pin hole of light. I started swimming towards it as hard as I could away from the boulder I smashed into under the water with what I could only describe as adrenaline. Suddenly I popped up on the surface. Even though it was sunny my vision saw everything greyed out as if I had gone color blind for a moment..I will never forget it….it is totally like you’re calmly going to sleep..I didn’t feel pain I didn’t feel my heart racing…it was oddly calm

It was like tunnel vision ,sound faded and voices had an echo ,by some miracle a guy found me and tied off my leg . . Doctors said I only had 20% of my blood volume when I arrived at the hospital . most people die at 30% ....the will to live was thinking about my daughter .

It sends so much shock and pain through their body that talking is almost impossible. Their only focus is trying to breathe. I know it's a show, but her only chance of survival was to crawl and use everything she had in her to hit that button.
