I passed the video through software 4 times, firstly reducing frame rate in half. This was as good as I was going to bother to get. Inconsistent frame rate even from scene to scene makes this a nightmare to properly "fix".

*menacingly vibrates*
Interpolation usually destroys animation, but this has nothing left to destroy. It just made it more cursed.
@Mial isus to interpolate is to add points between two existing points. Like, if you had a set of data {1, 3, 5, 7, 9} and you wanted to add more data that didn't wreck the trend, you could make it {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9}. Extrapolation is doing the same, but adding data outside the existing set based on the trend within the set.
Interpolation in this case is looking at all the frames of animation and saying, "what's something that could go in between each of these 24fps frames? I need to fill it up until it's sitting at 60fps." You add a bunch of frames by averaging the image. Like adding tweens, basically, except done by a computer.
The problem is, it wrecks keyframes. It makes animation look bad.
@@seansimonalle8896 ohhh
tldr
before you have frames A and B, with interpolation you create a frame “AB” that is the average of frames A and B. This however usually has a pretty.... undesirable effect in animation.
@Mial isus basically the computer guesses a frame in-between 2 of them
When I started using interpolation for anime I was comparing the source with interpolated output for like an hour and decided to watch that particular anime entirely with interpolation.
Now I get a headache when I forget to start SVP before playing an anime.
There is only one problem with "live" interpolation related to certain backgrounds (like fences).
Like I was rewatching an anime almost right after finishing it. I forgot to boot SVP and the episode I played started with a sliding shot of a recently introduced character. Without interpolation it was extremely hard to notice any details and with interpolation I had no problem giving that character thorough examination since the whole shot was like 5 seconds long.
If your brain can deal with watching a slideshow (which anime generally is, as it's only 1 or 2 frames per second over the minimum your brain starts considering "movement") then you can deal with with a bit of occasional blur.
But whatever floats your boat.
Repeat this thirty seven times and we might have some competent animation.
You mean that one decent animator named greg for no reason
The original frame rate is still so low that it won't generate inbetweens for the repeated frames, making it even choppier

This is still terrible but actually better than the original. Then again, it’s damn near impossible to be any worse than the original. The interpolation actually gives it a decent motion-blurry film-like look. It’s still garbage, but I’m totally running this on the whole disc to see how it looks.

EDIT: wow thanks. Like, the motivation drawn from horniness was powerful. Animated with interframes, this would have looked pretty damn on point aesthetically as an 80's anime. But for whatever reason, it didn't. Do I not like this video? Of course not. It's a cautionary tale - your anime is going to look like ass if you don't add interval frames. I'm glad that it wasn't an installment in a franchise that people liked, but it's probably just as sad that it's an original animation - yet from the other recommended video about this anime, it sounds like the plot for this movie kind of went nowhere.
