Another wonderful video of this beautiful sport Paul. Your successful efforts at bringing the beauty of flying a Sailplane to the public and even to each of us involved, make you a friend of the soaring community indeed!
Another great video Paul and definitely one to add to the list to watch during the cold and miserable days of winter when we can't get to the hills to slope soar.
Can only repeat what others are saying. Beautiful video and well matched music. I have long felt that modern competition gliders are a thing of absolute beauty. I would be interested in knowing the glide ratio of some of these machines.
GG is a Windward Performance DuckHawk 15m made in Oregon, USA. (might be first prototype as crew was working out bugs) Windward no longer makes these, low demand, I think 4 or 5 were built and are still flying. All pre-preg carbon, very light airframe.
Was trying to get a ride for some air shots for this video but all the 2 place gliders were 'booked'. You can see soaring legend Karl Striedieck in a few of the shots got to fly some R/C with him on a rain day.
@@sinki19841984 Excellent. You will learn more about Weather, Aerodynamics, Meteorology, Stick & Rudder flying, Decision making, and a bunch about yourself in Soaring. I have both single engine and glider ratings so you can trust me on this. It's a absolutely marvelous sport.
Enid Durt it protects the rope where it is wrapped around the tow ring from abrasion. The ball drags on the ground, instead of the rope where it goes around the ring.
Paul Another great one. I really have enjoyed them. 7-Romeo is still here in AZ.
That brings back some memories from my days of competing.

Nice video, brings back great memories from the contest in 2012
Thanks for identifying the year of the contest!

Nice video, and the best kind of flight. Thanks for show this.
You had me at the soaring bird - 0:08!

The glide ratio of the gliders present range from 40 to 50 .
Gorgeous!
16.00. “Get off of my cloud” comes to mind.

You know your a glider pilot when you recognize everyone in the video by their contest numbers. Go team KS.

Too bad you didn't show us footage from above.
Cool video. And I enjoyed the Description, never knew how these things were done.
The young need more exposure to what Soaring is all about. It's amazing. Music almost sounds like Tangerine Dream. (?)
I recently found out it's not as expensive to start as I thought it would be. I'll be doing my first flights next season for sure.

Paul, Awesome video, this is the best (out of the canopy) soaring video I've seen on UA-cam!!!
Also, GG and pilot Chip Garner won this 15m Nationals!
You mean came 2nd to Jerzy but was US Champion? ;)
Tom
Nice vid !
Low passes apparently not allowed in this competition ? Pity !
Beautiful video! Cringeworthy landing at 17:23

Which glider is GG?
Duck Hawk
infinity upvotes.
Hi! What's the little grey ball on the towing lines for? We don't use that at our club... ??

more or less a take off compilation than a short film.. misleading title
