Lol. Thanks man. I appreciate that. I remember your “ making a metal song with bias” I think it was. …I know you got chops man. That song was fire 🔥 MORE!!
Great song! I've only had the occasion to use a 441 once but it is indeed very nice on snare. It's on my wishlist for hopefully in the not-too-distant future.
Thanks! Great stuff. Also learned something: I always used with high boost and somehow overlooked that it can be - and probably should be - turned off when doing studio recording. But 441 absolutely one of my favorites.
One of my all time favourite mics! There are four mics I always take with me to gigs (doing a lot of live sound), MD441, M160 (a set of two), DPA 4099 (usually carrying three of these) and AKG D12vr. With those and anything supplied by the venues/rental companies I can get through just about anything. The MD441 is my favourite dynamic vocal mic, but most times I tend to put it on some instrument because not many singers seem to feel at home with it in a live environment.
441s sound INCREDIBLE on snare, but they're so freaking huge that positioning is always a problem. I wish someone made a right angle adapter for it like the Grenelli 57. In the mean time, my Telefunken m80sh is working quite nicely. KILLER SONG btw!
If there was a right angle. Dang. It is super long. But that pattern rejects those rear sides. So if there’s any room between hi hat and tom it slides right in there for me. But you are correct. Its a pain
Hey I've seen a couples of your videos and never saw one where you had original music, this is good, I like this, most production channels I watch are mostly gospel or Nashville stuff and sometimes I skip the music
I love the 441! I feel like it’s kinda forgotten about. If people could keep forgetting until I’ve purchased a bunch second hand that would be awesome… 👀
I bought my 441 off an old sound engineer that apparently used it on Tiny Tim and GG Allen. No proof but that's what the dude told me lol. Besides that I love this mic on so many things. It really brings out transients well for being a dynamic and I love pairing it on bass and guitar amps with a LDC (mainly Soyuz's Bomblet lately). I wish I had another one so I could try it on a set of toms because I really like it's off axis sound, especially compared to how ugly the off axis of a 421 can sound.
heyyyy great work! 441 has always been my goto mic for snares! could you please tell me the name of the second song you showed us? (actually i only need the artist name, i saw the song name)
First off that song fucking slaps! Now to watch the rest of the video 😂 Ok done: so i really liked it on your voice and guitar. Kick felt a bit weak and pillow-y, but i can see a use case for that. snare was not as punchy and snare like as i go for, but it could also have been the snare itself. That being said at the price point not sure it is really worth it, as i can think of a lot cheaper mics that can do similar stuff, but not all of it. so if i had the money I’d probably get a couple to have in the studio. But cheaper dynamics would be my go to. I’m sure there’s other sources it works great on. Definitely a workhorse mic though and that means something and I can see why people dig it.
I'm kinda with you on 421s. Though like you I do like them for a 'vintage' take on a bass cab mic sound, or a particular guitar cab sound, usually mixed with another mic. But I still prefer Electrovoice RE-20s as the more versatile, high-quality natural sounding mic. I suppose RE-20 would be another contender for king of the dynamic mics. 421s are much more coloured. Whereas, I find myself liking Beyerdynamic M201s more and more. Bought a 201 as a snare mic. Then discovered it sounded great on clean guitar cab, then upright bass, bass cab then was really surprised how good they sound on acoustic guitar. 201's are definitely a more practical form factor on drums than a 441, which I guess is why they often get used on snare bottom, or vocals. But still, I would love a 441 though, I like how they sound on recordings. There's also something very Star Trek about the design Aesthetics - some think their ugly but to me it's super interesting.
there are so many cheap mics out there killing it. and sometimes the most expensive mic is the worst for doing the job you need it to do. *cough* u47*cough*
@@RecordingStudioLoser Actually, my favorite cheap mic is the Shure SM27. I picked up several of them used for around $200 each and they are great workhorse mics!
Massive respect for the sheer amount of EFFORT that went into this video!
Thanks Glenn! Appreciate you man
Wait...you've had that singing ability this whole time and you've been holding out on us!? Killer stuff man.
Lol. Thanks man. I appreciate that.

Holy crap, we knew you're a kick ass sound engineer, but you're one hell of a musician too! Great song!!!!
Thanks man!
Amazing video man. Wow. Lots of work. Oh yeah, and thumbnail pic at 11:58
That’s my good side. 😂😂
Brilliant way to share your thoughts on a mic...from inspiration to create music. Great song, too.
Thanks so much!
Awesome job man. Wow. Sounds killer on snare for sure. Wow. Open sounding without harsh.
Great, really well done video. I've wondered about these mics forever, and this was a really good review of one. All the sources sounded really good.
Great to hear your stuff..
Awesome!
Hey, thanks!
Dude amazing work on that track! Great to see you performing. Awesome vid. Been wanting to try this mics for ages.
Love it! Sound and visual, keep it up!
Bro! Hats off man that was so good
What! Where have you been hiding that talent man? Vocals were killer!

Need this track on streaming platforms asap
What would my band name be tho?
@@RecordingStudioLoser Just release it under your name. I'd actually listen to your stuff, its great
Agreed. I want to hear this and more like it. Great job
Look at you, all screamy and metal ❤
I like to pretend sometimes.

MAn Dude Killer Vocals. I had no idea. Great video.

thats a solid setup right there

@@RecordingStudioLoser Try it as a Wurst mic.

Nice song dude 👍🏼
It’s a Good song Jeremy! 👌
Song is SO good dude 🤘 hot damn
that was a really cool video, very insightful and creative! :)
Thanks so much!

Rawk On Rawk Warriors 🤘🤘
That song hit's harder than an alcoholic step dad.
Thank you…. And… sorry for bringing up past traumas.
my dad didn't need a step to hit hard, just alcohol ... and two fists :/
if the high boost is anything like the high boost on the e906, it's great for snare bottom but that's about it

PIPES OF FUN!
Nice!
I'd like to hear what you think about the Warm Audio WA-19 dynamic mic. It's supposed to be very versatile and a great vocal mic and overheads.
Fuck dude, I always enjoyed your videos, but man, you kick ass at music! Respect and subscribed!
🫡
I even like 441 for drum overheads.

For sure. It’s not a necessity. I am glad to have one tho
@@RecordingStudioLoser also I wish more channels posted full songs with vocals for the gear reviews and stuff. Yours was awesome 🤘.

FAAAAAAAAAAK is the song on streaming?
Should it be?

I’m on it
Nice singing! So jealous of people with a naturally high register.
I'm jealous of people with a low register... none of us are happy lol
@@RecordingStudioLoser well I'm a baritone so I can't do either, at least not for long 😂
