We put the Fecon DCR Blackhawk and the Fecon DCR Bullhog side-by-side and compared what the two forestry mulching heads can do, the similarities, and the differences. We run Viking knives on both machines.
If interested in purchasing a Fecon, please contact Cindy Warning at (513) 686-1381 or CWarning@fecon.com.

I've watched about 20 or so of you're Vids John and Family....You inspire me.
All the best from Downunder.,
Awesome! Thank you!
I just bought the ASV 100 Forestry package. What an awesome machine! WAYYYYYYY better than my Bobcat T770!
Glad to hear you're happy with it!
An excellent and comprehensive course by Professor Jon Byrnes on the use and disuse of different Fecon cutter heads. I loved the explanation of the difference and why he doesn’t use the method known as “pawing,” attacking the tree from the top down. The only reason I’m familiar with that term is that I picked it up a from a previous video by Professor Jon. Having seen other mulching videos featuring that type of attack, I always thought if I had a machine I would never do it that way, because (a) it seemed like showing off, and (b) because Jon doesn’t do it, and if he doesn’t do it, that’s good enough for me. Now that he explained why not to do that my understanding is clearer. Jon would be in his element teaching students at a construction operators school. I see his success with Willie, Josh and Mike. I noticed that their style of operation is the same as his, indicating the same teacher. Heck, if I was an engineering student at nearby Clemson I’d offer to serve under Jon as an unpaid intern for a summer or two. Not only would I receive a quality education on running the machinery, but I would be educated on the local environment, it’s trees, soil and topography. Just watching these videos I’m getting an education.
All I have is a high school education, ha!
@@UpstateBrushControl You don't need to be a professor to be a good teacher. Duh. What you do need is a passion and working knowledge of the subject. You also need to want to teach. Lots of teachers just want a paycheck. They don't give a damn about their students. You also need students that want to learn. Hard to come by sometimes. Your guys are apparently great students. They are also great workers. I have watched all of your videos. They work hard for you because you work with them and respect them. That ain't always the case.
@@UpstateBrushControl You shouldn’t knock yourself for your supposed “lack” of education. College is overrated. I have worked with college graduates who couldn’t get out of their own way. I’d much rather spend my time talking and learning from you than wasting my time with them. Why? Because you are light years smarter than they are; you know your subject and can communicate it. Josh, Micah and Willie are getting a quality education beyond anything they can learn in most schools. One of the main reasons I subscribe - other than to see you big shiny machines in action 😉- is because I always come away having learned something, and I worked in road construction while in college myself. I have a healthy respect for what you do and how you do it. You are a real professor, a real teacher, because you live your subject.
Great job as always from the A Team... Always best to hear about a product from someone that uses it for a living...
I love it when a plan comes together!
Thanks Jon, great video. A side by side comparison on the two Fecons. I didn't realize the how wide the Black Hawk was. Now I see why you use the Bull Hog in tight situations. Enjoying your videos, keep them coming.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks, John! Was just talking with my sales guy today about maybe upgrading my mulcher head later this year and wanted to get more info on Fecon’s options. Perfect timing! I saw your first vid or two when you first got those heads. Very helpful to see them in action. 👍
Glad the video helped! Thanks for watching!
Whatpart of SWVA are you in? I bet you stay busy!
@@cathiwim We’re based near Roanoke and serve the surrounding area. There is definitely quite a bit to do around here. 😁
Southwest Virginia Land Clearing I’m not far from you In Danville. Trying to get into the business down in this end of the Piedmont.
Quality video once again! Keep up the work
Thanks buddy! Get some rest.
Excellent training for other operators to follow your fine example of safety first & efficient use of the equipment. Thanks.
Awesome video John. Hope all is well with you and the family. God Bless you and the guys. Yall stay safe. Love the tutorial.
Thanks for watching and the comment!
Great job on showing the difference, value and limitations of each machine. Look forward to your next clip!
Thank you for watching!

Just awesome guy’s. Stay healthy and safe from Alberta Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks!
Appreciated explanation. Love watching y’all work
Thanks for the explanation. I have been looking at both trying to figure out the pros and cons of each but without being able to run both its kinda tough. Thanks again!
Great vid John! Answered a lot of my questions about the difference between each head. What’s the average hour life you get out of one side of the teeth?
Can I get your email address?
@@UpstateBrushControl Sure!

Thank you, guys!
Thanks so much for the heads up on things do you ever have problems with small trees being slung behind you through the undercarriage
Great video, I still like the older Fecon!
Great people!!!
I'm kind of partial to it myself
Really like your channel John keep the videos coming
Thanks for watching! We appreciate your support on the channel.
Thanks.
You're welcome
Great Videos sir. Helps me alot when making a determination about which unit I am going to buy next.
Great informative content, really basic and honest just what to expect from Honest John, and the boys. stay safe.
Thanks for watching. I tried to say what I would want to know if I were interested in purchasing a fecon.
Excellent instructional video great comparison
I like the smaller unit better. Looks like it would be easier to get around in the woods and places where it might be tight and it does a great job!
Me too!
Great run down between the two. I’m pretty sure I seen your set up heading down Tubbs mtn rd yesterday. Badass machines fellas!
That was probably us!
Awesome thanks a good video y'all be safe out there bud
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching
Good commentary on machine comparisons (hoodie and all).
Thanks! I appreciate it! We'll hopefully get some hoodies out next fall 🤞
Enjoyed the show
Great video John 🇺🇲
Thanks! 👍
Thanks for sharing
Great machines both of them, lot looked great👍
It made a big difference!
Still no hoodies in merchandise store......
Just awesome machines man. Pick the one you like best and I'll take the other one.
Awesome Video!!
Quick question, when you guys transport the ASV with the Blackhawk head is it lighter and take up less space on the trailer? I am sold on the RT120F, just want to run the Blackhawk or a Cimaf head. I used to work for GyroTrac but we don't get along and these new heads seem like they can kick GT's butt!
I thought the bars were used to protect you and rake. I didn't know it protected those hoses. Good to know. Also that last limb you blasted thru, great way to end the video
That’s why I like the bullhog I’d be scared of opening the cab door and sliding/falling in front of the cutter head
If you ever got a chance to demo a denis cimaf 180d would you do it?
Stumbled upon your channel looking ways to protect the back of my Kubota 95. I really like what you have done with all the protective bars and cages I did here you say that the plate steel around the bottom of the back of your machine was 1 inch. I take it you ment it was a 1 in thick ? And did you build the cages or did you by them from the dealer. Very good videos thank.
Yes, its a 1" thick plate. We built come of the cages for the machine.
Great comparison!!!!!
Thanks!
Right on!!!
...good one, stay safe...
Thank you for watching!
Fill the inhex heads with silicon when you change the teeth it makes the next change easier. Just dig the silicon out with a screw driver.
Good information thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Like ur videos. Always a good job
Glad you like them!
Very interesting!
What's your camera setup?
You were on pope field road when you did this video. In Easley
Did you see us working there?
No I watched your video and recognize where you were at.
12:48 you crazy doin that.
Can I use a CAT HM315 MULCHER HF XPS on a Kubota 97-2?
If you watch BattleBots on TV, you will know that vertical & horizontal spinning heads are dominating the event.
I'd recommend wearing safety glasses!
Ha! Totally!
hi josh i hope you are doing well
How many hours do you have on your older 120
2800ish hours
Nice work and great demonstrations. 👍🏽🤠 05/13/24
Thank you!
I like the Bullhog better.
I'm partial to it as well.
Nice video John. I see it all the time, operators lifting up and dropping down on trees. It’s ridiculous, it’s not efficient, all it does is throw material all over the machine and make the windshield dirty. Keep it Low and slow
Low and slow and safe...I like it!
No winch in the rear
So one is more for finishing
I think it's easier to finish with the bullhog, just my opinion.
Just now SUBSCRIBED!! 😁👍 05/13/24
Awesome! Thank you!
油圧モーターの位置が変わると幅も変えれるでしょうね。
These would be great to mow down some zombies 👍
Dude the machine it's pretty dang fast on cutting trees
thinking sweep machine.
I thought the DCR was a good head until I switched to a Prinoth 450s head. It’s a night and day difference. You really need to consider a different head then Fecon. You are limiting your daily production and the quality of your mulch with Fecon.
County Landworks, I see the post is 4 months old. How is the Prinoth holding up? I am considering buying one myself.
This video is ridiculous. This guy talks more than he works. Save the long drawn out dissertation and allow the viewer to actually watch the video. I'm not interested in being a student.
