I know for this tutorial, I used several Japanese ingredients to make the bento.

thank you! there are bento tutorials, but everyone uses like extra tools and REALLY japanese ingredients. i try to make my bentos so anyone can make it anywhere. ill keep my bentos this way. NO extra special tools :] i dont wanna use extra money myself too haha

you can find them on Amazon or there is company Laptop Lunches that make Bento boxes you are likely to find at Walmarts, Kmarts and stores like that.

for those of you wondering how to make the bullet bill, its pretty simple. First roll out rice into the shape of a bullet, gently wrap in seaweed, and lastly garnish with cut out cheese shapes.
Excelent! It is not difficult, just a bit complicated (need time to do).

I was telling someone up there that if you like spicy foods, red pepper powder or paste would work(things like sriracha or korean red pepper paste) or even just something as simple as food coloring.

Probably could use any type of tomato sauce or cook a separate batch with food coloring. If you like spicy foods maybe Sriracha or any hot pepper pastes.

You could probably also use a red radish, though if that's the case I'd just carve the mushroom straight from that without the egg.

Dark konbu or black sesame seeds, though it may take a little more time to shape it with them.
People in Japan mix Ketchup into rice all the time. I think for Mario's skin color, if you don't have the furikake, you can do a very small dab of ketchup.

Could you please make a tutorial on how to make either pretty cure bento or fruits basket bento? The little rice ball that represents Tohru is so cute and I just love the rat that represents Yuki and the cat for Kyo of course Either 1 of the cures or candy from smile pretty cure. What might be a good alternative to nori? I love all the little faces and the cute things you can do with it, but i know my husband hates seaweed. Granted, he could just pick it off, but i hate to waste food.

hi! I'm Japanese :] but I grew up in America so I'm fluent in English. Currently I'm living in Japan, so it's true it's a little easier for me to gather the Japanese ingredients, but you could also get most of these in America if you have a Japanese/Asian super market near you.
