Fabulous woman. Very enjoyable. My grandmother immigrated to America 🇺🇸 in 1915 from Italy 🇮🇹. When I was a little girl I can remember grandma rocking back and forth on her kitchen chair telling me how she remembers when they shot the Czar and his family. Grandma had tears in her eyes while telling me.
When I hear this scenario it reminds me of the French Revolution where my family members the Charpentier, noble at birth and descended from ancient Kings, had to flee France wearing servant's clothing and pinning money to their undergarments. Leaving all wealth and possessions behind and board a ship to Canada much like the Romanovs. The memory of my grandmother stays with me still, she loved her French heritage and spoke only French, raised French poodles, and loved French food. I researched my ancestors Marc Antoine Charpentier, a French composer, and Jean Baptiste Charpentier, a painter.
Her wit, charm, character and charisma somewhat render her quite attractive and engaging in spite of her visibly advanced age. Women from her era were truly formed in far more superior moulds to the ones of this day. This was truly the golden age of parenting!
Very true. My parents took their parents for granted. I really wish my grandma had been younge enough to teach me what she knew. My life would have been so much better.

Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna, the Grand Mother of Princess Olga had two sons and moved to Canada after WW2 after escaping to Denmark, such a great Lady and died in Toronto Canada. She was a great artist. It is such a sad story.
The grandmother of Princess Olga Andreevna is Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna, elder sister of Grand Duchess Olga. GD Olga's descendants are not Romanovs and she married morganatically. @@sonaves5640 I’m 6 months late but I was confused and did some searching up. So the Grand Duchess Olga is the direct daughter of Tsar Alexander lll of Russia. The Lady here is the great-granddaughter of him. So technically grandniece of Grand duchess Olga. Grand duchess Olga has the title of grand duchess rather than princess. Princess Olga is the daughter of Prince Andrei, grandson of Tsar Alexander via his mother Grand Duchess Xenia( sister of tsar Nicolas ll, Grand Duchess Olga). I’m guessing her sister was overseas during the revolution like many of her other relatives. Unlike like what most of us believe, there are living direct lineage of Romanovs due to them being overseas or in a safe place from the revolutions. I know that most of the times siblings of kings or queens would have the title of Duke or Duchess rather than Prince ir Princess unless given I think? Please do correct me if I’m wrong thanks.Hope this clears it up?
I thought these people were very rude to her, and she kept a smile as she diverted each oddly personal comment they made about her. In general polite conversation, one doesn't ask cleverly about someone's finances or flippantly bring up the question of your murdered great uncle. Maybe the Swede sense of boundaries and politeness aren't the same as the English.

@@oliviajrh390Jrh, I am from the Slezka family, the earliest known ancestor being Mikhail Slezka, a 17th-century printer and book publisher. We are descended from Sleszka's oldest son who left Lvov (Lviv) to join the Zaporozhe Cossacks. The Slezkins were registered as belonging to the Russian nobility of the Chernogov province in Ukraine. My grandfather and great grandmother fled Russia through Yugoslavia, first, they lived in Florence, Italy for a while and later settled in France. My grandfather eventually became a French citizen and joined the French army during the 2WW. Hence the "de" prefix which was added by the French as well as other slight spelling variations. Other family members remained in Russia under the communists while others managed to flee to Argentina and the US.

Charming lady. Incredible circumstance to be so closely related to those historical persons. Probably the life of any party she attends. Can just imagine her laughter filling the house. She mentioned quite a few relatives in the States. It's surprising how many do actually live here. I remember in the 1990s a lady passed away, no children, never married, lived in a modest apartment, worked as a bank teller for decades. When her bank security box was opened there was discovered a parure set of royal jewels set with enormous peridot stones, and was discovered she grande Duchess of the Holy Roman Empire. That's the way to leave behind the royalty and live a quiet private life, for anyone who TRULY wishes to do so.

Although you're generally not supposed to smile at your Royal ancestors funeral! The Romanov Tsar's & family burials of 1998 was a very special & solemn event.
+Moneca Savoie Why did you assume she was wealthy? You don't appear to appreciate that her father and other relatives that escaped to London, left Russia in fear for their very lives. They left pretty much with the clothes they were wearing, and not much else, leaving all of their possessions behind. Did you think they would have stuffed banknotes into suitcases? Sadly, real life isn't that simple. But they certainly had to get out. Look what happened to Olga's father's cousin, Czar Nicholas II and his wife and daughters. They were all executed by the Bolsheviks in 1918. Olga's father and her other Russian relatives would have been under threat of similar treatment.
That depends on what you consider to be wealthy. She is many times poorer then Arab sheiks or the oligarchs of Russia, but I'm sure she could drown all of them in her old-world class. Regardless of how much money she has, she is still a member of the English aristocratic class, as she stated in this interview. At least in England, class and wealth are not always exactly the same thing. She is rich enough to be the owner of a fine old home in England, which was restored by her in the early 2000s and is partially open as a public venue.
Very funny! I actually met another granddaughter of a Romanov in the 1970s who visited the home of my parents. She was quite an ordinary girl. No pretensions ..just like everyone else.
The Tsar was originally invited to the UK by George V but Parliament shot down the idea. They didn't like the idea since people saw the tsar as a tyrant.
The "people" didn't see the Tsar as a tyrant since the "people" have no personal knowledge! They only see what they are told to see! Bolshevik propaganda denounced Nicholas as a tyrant & pro-Bolshevik voices in Britain spread the lie for the people to believe it!!
Wow. Being American we are so distant from these type of Royal dynasties. To think that these people ruled for over 300 years is so interesting. that is one thing I am going to have to take time to read up upon so I can better understand what all matters were really about. Currently I am reading about the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln. But my next list for reading is definitely the Romanov family. There is knowledge and Power in Reading.

😆 She would have given Charles a run for his money too! The English royal family had a knack for thinking they were selecting passive women that were nothing of the sort.

@@carolewilson1311 No, I do not mean revolution. If Princess Olga had married prince Charles (as stated) we would have had no Diana, probably no Camilla, and Olga would have now been Princess of wales, and eventually the queen consort to the new King, Charles.

Instead of that Prince Charles might have had children earlier in life and they would be in their fourties. But maybe he would have met Camilla anyway somewhere, fell in love and so on. When I was a little girl I can remember grandma rocking back and forth on her kitchen chair telling me how she remembers when they shot the Czar and his family. Grandma had tears in her eyes while telling me.
After Pharaohs the only royal family that really fascinates me is the Russian Tsars.
I totally agree!!!!!
Same bloodline
@@theelusive1322 Pharaohs and Russians??? How?
When I hear this scenario it reminds me of the French Revolution where my family members the Charpentier, noble at birth and descended from ancient Kings, had to flee France wearing servant's clothing and pinning money to their undergarments. Leaving all wealth and possessions behind and board a ship to Canada much like the Romanovs. The memory of my grandmother stays with me still, she loved her French heritage and spoke only French, raised French poodles, and loved French food. I researched my ancestors Marc Antoine Charpentier, a French composer, and Jean Baptiste Charpentier, a painter.
The French revolution demonstrated the baseness of humanity which was replicated with the Russian revolution.
As a French, your ancestors are lucky we didn't get them.
One can see in her the family resemblance to Tsar Nicholas and George V. Fascinating interview, we should see more of her and the Romanovs.
vann tedd: Thank you.
Very beautiful.
Mothers of George V and Tsar Nicholas-- Alexandra and Dagmar--were sisters, which explains the similarity.
She strongly resembles Grand Duchess Olga, so I felt, while watching the interview, that I was meeting her grandmother.

Fantastic interview, she just seems a normal person, who accepts her life as it is.

All pioneered by her grandmother. Having lost all, to survive she had to become very down to earth. Nice it is still a quality held by the family!
It's refreshing to know that there are still Romanovs alive today.

Meanwhile, Princess Olga is indeed a Romanov because her paternal grandfather (Grand Duchess Xenia married a cousin, Grand Duke Alexander/Sandro) is a Romanov. She is the daughter of Prince Andrei Alexandrovich Romanov.

Yes she does
I thought these people were very rude to her, and she kept a smile as she diverted each oddly personal comment they made about her.

That was funny to hear she wished she was wealthy lol! I had assumed that she was.

Why did you assume she was wealthy? You don't appear to appreciate that her father and other relatives that escaped to London, left Russia in fear for their very lives. They left pretty much with the clothes they were wearing, and not much else, leaving all of their possessions behind. Did you think they would have stuffed banknotes into suitcases? Sadly, real life isn't that simple. But they certainly had to get out. Look what happened to Olga's father's cousin, Czar Nicholas II and his wife and daughters. They were all executed by the Bolsheviks in 1918. Olga's father and her other Russian relatives would have been under threat of similar treatment.
They murdered and stole the wealth of her family in Russia...Bolshevism.....Slaughterd the children...
@@lorddaver5729 Olga's father's uncle 😂 not cousin
She is though. She was being humble. She owns and lives in Provender House in Norton.
I love to listen to people who has lived their lives but has something that others can learn

And indeed the Tzar was a Tyrant .
