Peter Knowles was a forward for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 1960s. Great things were expected of him, and he was on the verge of breaking into the England team. But a chance encounter with some Jehovahs' Witnesses changed his life forever, and he ultimately left the game behind as a result.

we came 4th in the league that season who knows we could have won it if he had stopped. That was a tremendous Wolves team the one I grew up with great memories. Tremendous player was at his last game too and went on the picture at the end.
Wonderfully talented footballer. Went to his final game v Forest. I really thought he'd make a comeback at some point. He gave up a lot, but no doubt he never regretted it. Great man.
Yeah clear he’s found happiness and he can’t be knocked for that
Excellent football channel.
Thank you!
Agree with you, it only matters how he feels about the decision he made. All the best to him and glad he's happy. Great story Finners.
People can rip into him all they want but not many find joy in life, so it's refreshing to see someone do that
I'm not so sure he's happy now as the world was supposed to have ended in God's battle of Armageddon many many years ago.
Peter Knowles, brother of nice one Cyril.
Remember them well. 👍
Read up on Cyril in the research, he had a very sad story
@@afcfinners Just looked myself, yes. Lost his son in a very strange car incident, his knee troubles that resulted in him retiring, and then brain cancer that got him too young. 😐😔
I interviewed Peter a few years ago. Smashing Bloke. It’s a myth he was spotted by Wath Wanderers by the way. Peter also told me his conversion didn’t happen in The States either. It was in this country the UK. Enjoyed this video never the less.
Blast, print the legend eh? Glad you enjoyed though, I watched an interview he did with a couple of kids. Seemed a very nice bloke. Doesn't seem to hold any resentment towards the game and doesn't mind being asked about what he did.
Thanks for sharing. My first football hero. Devastated when he retired at such an early age! Thanks for the memories Peter “Knocker” Knowles! ❤
Well you did say Jehovah
No one is to stone anyone until I blow this whistle!
That's some story...😂
