WOKE UP is their most rap-focused single yet, essentially doing away with the idea of a melodic hook. 808 bass infused with sounds unique to East Asia. Cocona been wanting to shave her hair off for a long time. XGALX Entertainment wasn't ready for Cocona shaved look back in the beginning of her career.

Great reaction bro'! A lot of people have already given you some really good information about these young ladies but I am going to try and add some additional information. They range in age from 18 to 22 years old so they are young but extremely talented. Each is a student of r&b and hip hop/rap. They get a lot of hate and tend to snap back in their songs. Woke up in particular, if you listen closely you can tell that they are telling detractors to back off. Maya, who is the fourth girl to rap, even raps a warning "don't talk down to my kin." She is referring to the XG fandom and her fellow bandmates, They are very protective of each other and have gotten better and better at their craft. With "Woke Up" I believe they will ascend to their rightful place in the music world, and that's on top. That said, I recommend X-Gene (it's short but showcases, rap, vocals, and dance), Losing You, which is a cover form a trio named Flo, XG Tape #2 is really good as well. @@gabeokashi Sadly a lot of the hate is coming from the U.S. and Korea. In the U.S., several people are accusing the group of appropriating the music and complaining that they don't write their own lyrics. In Korea, there is some animosity because of some comments the CEO of XGALX's parent company (AVIREX) made. That said, they are winning people over in both countries as we speak. It doesn't hurt that Woke Up has accelerated that acceptance. As for the writing of lyrics, they have written some of the mix tapes MV's and I have no reason to believe they won't have more input as they are quickly growing in popularity.
If you want to get the gist of XG and what and who they are, you must begin with XG Move #1:Everybody Mad(dance crew), XG Tape#1: Chill Bill(multilingual rap), XG VOX#1: Peaches(English vocals). From there be prepared for a plunge into the enormous rabbit hole that is XG. Seven members, all Nihonjin, sings and raps primarily in English. Fluent in Korean, English conversational skills not there yet, except for Maya, the only member who is fluent in English, but for the other members, the English diction and enunciation for their releases are becoming top tier with only slight inflection problems that can be heard on their earlier stuff.

There are plenty of talented female rappers who can rap circles around male rappers, so I'm sorry if I made it sound like there are barely any out there doing it, or that it's male vs. female. What I really meant to convey was that in the American market, female MCs don't tend to rap like this because it's not as popular or common as it was in the 90s. And they aren't rewarded when they do because it doesn't sell records. As a hip-hop head, I think I was trying to sound deep or address something else without properly giving context, so sorry if that sounded rude! I am a housewife in my 40s who loves BLACK MUSIC, and I am really amazed by XG's rap! It feels like the day has come when Japanese people can compete on the world stage. I think these girls are the first Japanese people who rap well and look cool. And they are women, still high school students, or around 20 years old. I recommend their "XG TAPE #2" from when they were about 16 or 17, and their recent "XG TAPE #4". I'm looking forward to reactions. They are easy to understand with Japanese subtitles. I wish I could understand what overseas people are saying in their reactions...

彼女たちは全員日本人のガールズグループで2年前に韓国でデビューしました。曲は全て英語で歌っています。ラップのレベルはご覧の通りで素晴らしいのですが、驚くことに全員がダンス、歌唱に対しても素晴らしいスキルを持っているんです。4人のラッパーと3人のボーカリストで構成されているのですが、この曲は全員のラップだけという新しい試みでした。この曲の1つ前の曲では全てバラード調で全員でハモってました。ですので、ラッパー4人とボーカリスト3人だと思っていたのは間違いだった可能性すらあります。
彼女たちはHIPHOPをリスペクトし、自分たちの音楽をXPOPと呼んでいます。UA-camで彼女たちがデビューするまでのビハインドを見ることが出来ますがデビューする数年前からラップスキルがかなりのものだったことがわかります。
加えて、彼女たちは全員日本語ネイティブで韓国語も苦労なく話せます。英語は1人だけがネイティブに話せますが海外のインタビューなどでは通訳なしで答え、リスニングでは日常英語に苦労していないように感じます。プロデューサーが日本語と韓国語のバイリンガルでアメリカでの経験も長かったために英語も加えたトリリンガルに近いと思われ、そんな彼とメンバーは3ヶ国語が混じった彼ら独自の言語で普段話しています。
彼女たちは3ヶ国語でラップしますが、これは彼女たちにとっては凄く自然で一番表現しやすい言語なんだと思います。

Great reaction bro'! A lot of people have already given you some really good information about these young ladies but I am going to try and add some additional information. They range in age from 18 to 22 years old so they are young but extremely talented. Each is a student of r&b and hip hop/rap. They get a lot of hate and tend to snap back in their songs. Woke up in particular, if you listen closely you can tell that they are telling detractors to back off. Maya, who is the fourth girl to rap, even raps a warning "don't talk down to my kin." She is referring to the XG fandom and her fellow bandmates, They are very protective of each other and have gotten better and better at their craft. With "Woke Up" I believe they will ascend to their rightful place in the music world, and that's on top. That said, I recommend X-Gene (it's short but showcases, rap, vocals, and dance), Losing You, which is a cover form a trio named Flo, XG Tape #2 is really good as well. Ask me or any of the other Alphaz (XG fandom name) and we will be happy to give you additional discography information. Peace.

Honestly by the way they rap, I could really tell that they put in a lot of effort to study the skill of hip-hop and rapping. That's hard for anyone to do it like that at that level.

@@gabeokashi Sadly a lot of the hate is coming from the U.S. and Korea. In the U.S., several people are accusing the group of appropriating the music and complaining that they don't write their own lyrics. In Korea, there is some animosity because of some comments the CEO of XGALX's parent company (AVIREX) made. That said, they are winning people over in both countries as we speak. It doesn't hurt that Woke Up has accelerated that acceptance. As for the writing of lyrics, they have written some of the mix tapes MV's and I have no reason to believe they won't have more input as they are quickly growing in popularity.

Fluent in Korean, English conversational skills not there yet, except for Maya, the only member who is fluent in English, but for the other members, the English diction and enunciation for their releases are becoming top tier with only slight inflection problems that can be heard on their earlier stuff.

There are plenty of talented female rappers who can rap circles around male rappers, so I'm sorry if I made it sound like there are barely any out there doing it, or that it's male vs. female.
What I really meant to convey was that in the American market, female MCs don't tend to rap like this because it's not as popular or common as it was in the 90s. And they aren't rewarded when they do because it doesn't sell records. As a hip-hop head, I think I was trying to sound deep or address something else without properly giving context, so sorry if that sounded rude!
At the end of the day, XG is an amazing group, and there were and are plenty of talented female Mcs doing their thing!

I am a housewife in my 40s who loves BLACK MUSIC, and I am really amazed by XG's rap! It feels like the day has come when Japanese people can compete on the world stage. I think these girls are the first Japanese people who rap well and look cool. And they are women, still high school students, or around 20 years old. I recommend their "XG TAPE #2" from when they were about 16 or 17, and their recent "XG TAPE #4". I'm looking forward to reactions. They are easy to understand with Japanese subtitles. I wish I could understand what overseas people are saying in their reactions...
